For DoF I have used Null's before. Have not tried that in a while though.

Regarding the DAZ Froum software, it was chosen for some tie-in to the newre or some software they are using with the new store. Choosing the best forum software was unfortunately not the driving factor.

Of course, the forum software here also has its pros and cons as well.

It could be that they have not worked all of the kinks out of adding a beta release to everyone's downloads in the new store yet so had to do under the old store.

Also, from what I read, you can only have DS4 or 4.5 on your system, but not both. And trying to go back from 4.5 to 4 sounds like somethign out of the Cthluhu Mythos... ;)

Yeah, but I'm not asking the guys at Lux what the heck were they were thinking, knowing Reality users would be jumping all over it! Edit2: And there was no Lux website + forum cutover. And we can still use 0.9 if we have problems with 1.0RC1, right?

Jogging down the jungle path, you come to a halt as you watch cannibals build a pit trap right in front of you. You continue to watch as they conceal it, and eventually, as your impatience is about to boil over, post two "Pit Trap Ahead" signs, one for each direction of the path. "Finally, the path is clear again" you think, as you leave your hiding place and start jogging down the path again, immediately falling into the pit trap. Later that day, as you are being spit roasted alive, you wonder why the cannibals installed a new pit trip on the jogging path....

More poignant questions like "why couldn't it have been a deadly pit trap" and "WTF was I thinking?!?" elude you...

Much later that evening, the cannibals decide that the new regulations from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Food requiring warning signs for said food are not so bad after all.

Anyway, that’s a long and hopefully humorous way of saying you only have yourself to blame if you install release candidate software just before a big website and forum cutover occurs. That and you should know how much sympathy  to expect from me! ;)

It would be really cool if they did not break plugins, but with a new file export option, I would assume the SDK had to change at least a little bit? If we're lucky, it might only require a recompile or some slight changes.

BTW, looks like the old forums went read-only a couple hours ago. Knocking on wood this transition goes well, so we can ocus on griping about missign functionality! ;)

Just hopping in to say hi!

Man this thread is heavily biased. I mean, no offense to the people working on exporting Poser scenses to to Lux, but Reality 1.2 (on sale right now btw) blows the competition away. If you want to do stuff in Lux without having to hand edit files then DAZ Studio is the way to go. And you can use Reality with the free 32-bit version of Daz Studio and then send it to 64-bit Lux. So that's a little under $52 right now to get a really easy, powerful way to create scenes for Lux. Beat that!!

Besides Reality, the other thing DS has going for it is the highly customizable GUI, free scripting language and SDK (based on QTscript). You can literally make your own workflow.

It can definitely be expensive buying additional plugins for DS, but 1) that's the same model Vue uses and 2) if you can hold out for the five bazillion sales DAZ has every year then you can pick a lot of the plugins up at a much cheaper price.BTW, Reality is on sale right now.
So in some ways it's apples to oranges.

It's interesting that Poser and Vue are in theory superior products bolted to horrible, barely customizable (good grief, I need Vue Infinite so I can change the color scheme and assign differnt kb shortcuts???).

So the best of both worlds imo would be Poser Pro 2010 but with the user-frienldier DS GUI (e.g. that upside down L in the top left corner of each view for camera and render settings), the ease of scripting and creating plugins of DS, and of course Reality.  And for Vue, basically do soemtihhng simialr for the GUI. And make it availble in the free Personal addtion all the way up so that people actually start using it (and maybe sharing how they set things up).

No, I could swear I saw it on here. Maybe I was another site, but I mostly hit DAZ and here.

Did powerage redo the promo images recently? That might explain it. Or maybe it was a clearance item that is now no longer avaialable. I accidently closed the tab before adding it o my wishlist, but I think I didn't worry about adding it back in because it would be ewasy to find. But I've gone thorugh most of the top selling artists.It's drivign me crazy!! :-)
