What about when you have files that give you an option of P4, PP, P5 or P6? Which should you choose? I noticed that the PP version of one of my props rendered blown-out, but the P5 version was fine. On other props, the PP version looked better, if there was any difference at all.

Quote - And I still don't get the point. We can use nodes to fill the "Background" with anything we want, but if you save with transparency, you pretty much have completely discarded it, right? Why bother programming a background if you're going to ignore it in post?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't background affect the edge pixels in a tranparent png? I've gotten different results in the past when I've rendered over the default gray, vs. over black, vs. over a background image or background color. Yes, the pixels are partially transparent, but wouldn't the matte color that affects that transparency change based on your settings? Especially with items that have a high transparency or translucence.
I need to do some tests to try it out, but when you affect the background, even if you're exporting with transparency, I would assume you'd get different results. And then when you composite later (for example, if you need to composite many elements into one image that would be a pain to render all together), you don't get some halo effect or an unrealistic transparency. Is that incorrect?

So as a beginner, what wouldn't I want to put ambient occlusion on? Will it work on skin, hair, eyeballs? Or is it really only good on flat surfaces?

Quote - a mac pro maxxed out for 3D will cost more than $10,000, in case anybody asks.
That's only if you buy everything through Apple...which, unless you're a trust fund kid, is just lunacy. As long as you don't buy the things you don't need to buy through Apple - like monitors, memory, and hard drives - it won't cost nearly that much. You can get better components much cheaper through NewEgg. All you need from Apple is the machine, the OS, and the processors.
But all of that aside, I guess there's not much experience or knowledge around what Poser can and can't handle with quad cores? It's just a trial and error thing right now?

Quote - Other folders that you see inside the Libraries folder are morph folders that contain morphs for different packages that you have installed. So do not change any of those.
I'm guessing that the "morphs" folder is different than the "pose" folder, which might have morphs in it, correct?
Sorry, this is just all a tad confusing.

So just for clarification, I can rename my folders and subfolders to anything I want? I had tried that before with DAZ, but it seemed to cause linking issues that gave me a ton of errors. With Poser that's not an issue?
If so, that makes things much easier! I can just rearrange as I see fit, which is what I wished I could do before.

Ok then, so answer me a question: I thought that if you rename your folders, the files would not be able to link to other files correctly, and suddenly your library would come up with all kinds of errors. This had happened to me in DAZ, but is it not an issue with Poser? Can I just rename my folders and move my files around into subfolders as I see fit? If that's the case, then that's easy, and answers my question!
