I really love Vue but it gets harder and harder to defend the render times; I'm also a bit irritated that they can't implement rendering by graphic cards.
My NVidia card has 192 cores a' 1 Ghz (= 200 Ghz render power; Crysis looks like a dream, lol) and still I have to render on a measle quad core (4x 2Ghz).
Maybe Vue needs a totally new engine so that we can render in realtime (like the Sandbox engine/Crysis)...E-on should contact Crytek asap! :-)
I played Crysis Warhead om my new laptop and I also created/rendered a Vue scene...Vue almost burned my quad laptop and it took 1 hour to render a simple (Glob.Illum.) scene while in Crysis I walked around in real time with much better scenes compared to what I created...I feel embarassed! lol

In my eyes a 3D graphic file/model (*3DS, *MAX etc) cannot contain nudity...it's only splines, vertices and 3D virtual surfaces with texture... unlike a REAL, living photomodel/person.
It's a huuuge difference between a lifeless "naked" 3D model and a REAL one...imho.

Many thanks sirenia!
Those lovely blipping effects lol come from an ancient softsynth from 1996 called "Simsynth" (http://www.threechords.com/hammerhead/simsynth.shtml ) ; I just recorded a few blips in *.wav format and imported them in Cubase SX adding them to the track.
I love to play with synths but I sweat blood when I have to create complete song! :-)))

Thank you guys!
The idea was to make music AND animation ( animating a detailed spaceship/flyby etc. in Bryce or Vue) but right now I don't have render resources (for HQ animation)...I'll do it sooner or later though! :-)

Quote - Nice, very nice! :-) My favorite is Galactic Journey.
The song titles would make great image titles as well.I noticed the omega character. That reminded me a lot of an old hungarian band, also called Omega. Is there any relation?
Thanks Rutra!
No, it's just a coincidence...I just made an image in a few minutes for that page.
I was thinking I should make some spaceship animations in Vue and add the music to it but I don't have render resources (for HQ animation) right now.

Thanks Bryster!
I still wonder if the new i7 quad core can behave like a 2 x 4 core processor with hyper threading.
I ask it because I would like to know if I have to buy a double processor (double quad core) computer or it would be enough with the i7(with 4 cores) which simulates 8 cores.

If you've read this far.. than you are probably either confused....Got a Headache or wished you just took my Quick Answer advice.
LOL, thanks for your detailed answer; now I know everything I wanted to know about program- and file transfer; I've learned a lesson so I will install all my important apps to the new system one by one without messing with clones/imaging etc...thanks for the tips guys! :-)
Now I close this thread! :-)

Quote - Quick thought - do you actually use and need all the programs you're talking about? Setting up a new system is an excellent time to prune brush and sort out what's important, vs "looks neat, I'll get around to it someday when I have time" (mea culpa..;) kinds of things.
That's true; I don't need all the programs I installed on the old one but those I use have many plugins and user files etc. so they will need some extra attention... :-)

OK; thank you Annie/weezer for your input and suggestion!
I have of course an external HD for instant work backup and the DVDRW so I'm well guarded from losing my Vue/Bryce and even Cubase files.
I felt a bit scared when I was thinking that only in Cubase alone I have 30 softsynths with their own user settings and saved files...it took "years" to install them and make them work not to mention the subfolders of Bryce and Vue.
Thanks for the tips, they were appreciated; I'm going to install these progs/folders during a longer period and will check out the mentioned GHOST app.
