Quote - What version of Poser are U using?
As Poser has installed a very good pdf manual in your Poser folder.
There is even a special chapter on obj files.
I am using Poser 8. I want to look at the manual but right now I have no time. I am trying to find less time consuming answers.

I appreciate all of your responses. They provide useful information. I'm not yet familiar with many poser terms, so I can't pick things up just by reading, but I will learn better once I try them out.

If you go to File>Run Python Script and browse to were the script is it can be run . You then can copy it to runtime/python/poserscripts/scriptsmenu in your Poser program directory if it turns out to be a useful script that you will run often, and it will show up on the Scripts menu after restarting Poser...
Thank you! I will try that! :)

Quote - you will gain respect and help far quicker if you post " i've downloaded the script, read the read me file, i've put the script in the folder recommended and when i try to open it ??????????? etc etc" without which the natural progression is, I tell you where to unzip it to and your next questions are how do I load it and what does it do................... just my tuppence worth
I'm not familiar with how the program works. Before I asked this question, I downloaded one of the python scripts. I thought it would be a type of file that I would have to place in a poser folder. It turned out to be just text. I started reading it and found it confusing.
I guess I will do my own research and look more into it when I have the time.
Thread: Importing Downloaded Props Into My Poser 8 Library | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Once you understand the fundamental folder structure Poser uses to organize and detect content, your next step is to drag those folders into their appropriate folders. I would recommend using the Download folder, it doesn't have content and you can easily keep track of the content.
Thank you! I wasn't sure what you meant but I tried different things to find out what worked. The information that you guys gave helped guide me in the right direction and I was able to transfer the props to my poser library.

How can I install these python scripts into poser? I downloaded one of them from the website. I unzipped it and all I see inside the folder is a .py file and a .txt file. What am I supposed to do with them?

Quote - It is that content folder in documents that you unzip Poser items. You can also create individual runtime folders to sort out each particular item, like clothing, props, hair, etc.
I tried to follow what you guys said in your posts but it's not working for me. I use a mac computer so maybe it works differently on macs.
When I download a file, I unzip it. Then I look into the folders and find files with extensions such as .pp2 Do I have to unzip these files too? If that's required, I don't know how to do it.
When I open poser, the folders that I see are Content_Install_Log, Downloads, Runtime, and Tutorials.
When I open the Downloads folder, there are other folders inside. These folders are Other, Runtime, Scenes, Temp, and Utils.
The Runtime folder also has other folders inside. These folders are Cg, Figures, Geometries, Heads, Libraries, LipSync, poserHtml, Prefs, Python, Readme, Reflection Maps, Scripts, Textures, The Pad_PZ3, ui, and WebLinks.
I have tried dragging props to the downloads and runtime folders but they don't show up on my poser library.
Can I please get some step by step instructions on how to install props to my poser library?

Quote - Python is a programing language that can be used to write extensions to Poser to perform various tasks. The Python functions specific to Poser are detailed in the PoserPython Methods Reference Manual, which should be in the Poser directory as a pdf.
The Python scripts in the Scripts Menu include some very useful ones, such as Partners>Dimension 3D>Render Firefly, which allows you to set and save custom render settings, such as for draft and final renders.

While they are fairly easy to use, writing python scripts requires a pretty thorough knowledge of Poser, so you will likely need to gain some experience, unless you happen to already be knowledgeable about Python...
Thank you for the link! It seems very useful!

Quote - -Selecting the full body of a figure that I choose
In the parameters palette, select the body.-Moving a figure from one place to another
With the body actor selected, move the figure over the X,Y, or Z (translate dials)-Turning a figure around or on the side (the figure itself, not the camera view)
With the body actor selected, rotate the figure over the X;Y;Z with the dials.this is in the manual, is in the quick start video's.
Thank you! That was useful information! I tried it out and it worked even though it's a bit difficult to work with the little controls at the parameters. There are several more things that I want to learn how to do right now but I am not exactly sure how they are done. I don't need many details on their numerous functions, but I need to know how to locate the tools necessary for the job and know if there's any special requirements/procedures to be able to use them.
I need help figuring out how to...
-Zoom in and Zoom out
-Create poses where the figure lays down on the back, belly, or side
-Change position of the camera. Sometimes I have this problem where the figures are on one side of the screen and their heads are mostly cut off from view. I want to change the camera view so that the figures are in the center and nothing is cut off from view.
-Apply hair to bald figures
-Change skin tone
-Change eye color
-Put on clothing or change clothing
-I also downloaded several props but I don't know how to add them to my poser library. How do I know which files are compatible with poser 8 (what extension) and how can I upload them to my poser library?
-How can I change the gray background into sky, grass, or the inside of a room?

And ???"Tube-you" :-)
I already know about the manual and tutorials, but is it so hard to explain how to do the simple things that I ask?
-Selecting the full body of a figure that I choose
-Moving a figure from one place to another
-Turning a figure around or on the side (the figure itself, not the camera view)
