Your welcome Cyn and Michelle. I figured Michelle would have been the first one up and going at it. I saw it on American Photo aswell and had signed up for a reminder when they were ready to go. I recieved 2 memory cards on friday provided by the project for free to keep aswell. One is a 512 and one is a 228MB card. Plus all the mentions and honorables one gets along with some money and or a printer or digital camara if you make one of the 53 covers. If you don't you still get some freebies for the trys...

That sux big time! I guess you could have a partition with with the operating system teh scanner used to work with and then give the rest of the harddrive space to XP. so you will end up with 2 versions of windows in one PC. And to Bsteph, you are correct teh price for the pro version of XP is $299 we got our version at $129 since we buy with multiple license releases...

Why do people upgrade to Windows XP? first it takes 1.43 gigs just to install the dam thing. gives you all this stuff you don't need, as it's own propietory video editor and photo editor, which suck. "if it comes with it it's for a reason..." to annoy the hell out of you is the only one I can come up with. Windows 2000 is 4 years olds and still cost $329.00 for the proffesional version while windows XP pro only cost $129.00... and you wonder why? once you install XP is a half bitch around the world to even try to remove it. I have tons of programs I can't install on our video department stations because XP does not support the drivers for our Canon XL1s DV video camaras and the rendering stations for special effects. But XP is what these systems came with so we have to run everything from our servers. If worst comes to worst, and if you still have your old system you could use that as a storage drive. scan the images onto that system and retrieve them to your new station via networking cards. a good set along with 2 cards and a 20 foot roll of cad cable should be no more than $50 unless you want to go wireless which should run you near $120. It's a hassle to have to scan on one location and then run to another to work on it. or just sell you old gadgets on E-bay and buy a compatible XP scanner. ALot of companies have not and are not realeasing driver updates for XP anytime soon.... sorry your stuck if nothing else works.

I have heard the samething about shooting pictures of the White house & the Lincoln memorial from a friend of mines who treid to use a tripod there and almost got his ass arrested and or shot... I guess they have a security messure such as a snipers tripod of some sort to make a direct hit. But thats just my guess.

Thread: Polarizing Filters for Digital Cameras | Forum: Photography
People People People! You are forgetting to answer the question the person asked. Now I'm confused! (as always) So Werner the bottom line should be. Remember to remove your Polarizer when you are using a flash.Whenever I forget to do this, my pictures come back looking a little grainy, with low contrast. I think that the polarizer cuts down the exposure by one stop (or maybe even more when it is fully activated) and somehow screws up the camera's ability to get the correct exposure. That's just a guess, but whatever it does, the results are not pleasing to the eye. If you still want to protect your lens when you're not using your polarizer, get a skylight filter. And as Michelle has said... Polarizers come in two varieties, 'linear' and 'circular.' Each has the same effect visually; the difference is just in the way they polarize the light passing through. If you own an auto-focusing camera , use a circular polarizer, which won't interfere with its automatic functions. My result with using a liner on a digital camara with auto focus on which it's most of the time, I get alot and I mean alot of grainy pixels on anything thats blur in the back ground or in fields of thirds. Maybe I see these more than other because I'm using bright lights in studio production with strobes. But I do also agree with Jordy I have not notice it in regular day to day home shots. now we will be right back after these "fetishes"

I own a Wacom 4x5 for 2 yrs now and it has been excellent. I use it along with my optical mouse and use the tablet as the mouse pad and it is very scratch resistant. The mouse that it comes with does not do it for me although wireless it needs to sit right on the pad in order to work and thus needs to exchange when using the stylus (PEN)so I put it away in a drawer and use my optical... I like using my optical mouse's wheel to scroll on screen when working with the pen. just sit your mouse next to the pad on your desk and use the scroll wheel when you need it. The size of the pad hardy has anything todo with your image on screen, except if you have to retouch huge concept drawings such as for movies. or like to use long hand stroks. I usually just look at the screen while I am drawing with it as if am looking at a canvas. the erase tip is awesom also. the bigger modles have some shourt-cuts built into the pad where you can re-program them such as save image or open new document with out having to stop what your doing and click on file and the open etc etc etc.... also has a tracing cover that you lift to add a picture for tracing. The only really issue you should be looking for is the amount of pressure the more pressure you can apply the better. It feels very realistic especially in painter 1-7. paint actually runs more when you squeeze it more on the pad. I bought mines for $50 new on ebay.com the graphir series are more expensive since you can buy extra pens with finer tips and fucntions. but why when you can change the pen size in photoshop or any other program. I guess that model is for those who want to spend more and are lazy. :O)
