A solution could be the increase of rays in the render settings. I also use the optimal anti-alias. CREAFab, la crtion numique autrement...Thread: Problem With Ray Dream | Forum: Carrara

I've already have this kind of problem on RDS. The solution I found was : - export the meshes into Amapi - operate the boolean operation - re-import into RDS the final mesh from Amapi. Booleans are faster and produce lighter objects than RDS. CREAFab, la crtion numique autrement...Thread: What's the largest file you've worked with? | Forum: Carrara

The RDS 5.02 file for my last image was about 80 Mo. I rendered the scene in 72 dpi in 1600 x 700 in 11 hours on a Duron 920 and 917 Mo RAM. Fabien3D CREAFab, la crtion numique autrement...Thread: OLD RDS 5.5 reading PZ3 | Forum: Carrara

Rather strange Curious Labs doesn't know where the patch is ! Did you ask on the Poser Forum ? Fabien3D CREAFab, la crtion numique autrement...Thread: OLD RDS 5.5 reading PZ3 | Forum: Carrara

You should look at your Poser 3 CD : the poser importer is on the CD. Copy it in the Ext directory. If you encounter problems, install the poser importer patch. FabienThread: Suicide - The Final Moments | Forum: Carrara

Thanks for the comments ! Sure we now chance to have so small computer boxes. When I think of the first computers in the 50's... I used Amapi 4.15, Poser 3 and RDS for the modelling, The GIMP for the textures and RDS for the rendering : 11 hours in 3200 x 2000 on a AMD Duron 920 and 917 Mo RAM. I've never had such a long rendering for a single image ! I think that the more powerful my computer gets, the more complicated my scenes are. I'm thinking of changing my graphic card : I actually have a Creative Riva TnT with 16 Mo, but I'm not very interested in a GeForce MX but in a Powercolor Kyro I (not II) with 64 Mo RAM. I think that RDS does only care of the amount of memory available on the graphic card, not of the new instructions included in the nowadays GPU. Does anyone know about that ? I don't use Carrara, but I don't think the smooh functions have changed since RayDream. Indeed, there is a smooth function in the mesh form modeler, but now, when I have to make a chamferred object, I use Amapi3D 4.15. The modeling functions are much more powerful in Amapi. On the contrary, the Free Form Modeler is easier to use than the Amapi's.Thread: RDS 5.0 Rederings | Forum: Carrara

Well, after the Nebula's reply, I had doubts about the plug-in that was described on the Eovia site. I the checked the Lost Horizon Software web site and found a description of the Carrara Power Pack at this URL : http://www.losthorizonsoftware.com/products/cpack.htm. If you can't reach for it, this is the dexription provided on the web site : "Procedural Shaders- 3d Lumber Yard with Planks: The ultimate procedural wood texture. Lumber Yard uses a 3d algorithm to generate wood that looks real, regardless of the object it is applied to. Lumber Yard also allows the user to define a surface made of many planks, with the option to vary the shade of each plank by a user controlled amount. Planks: Designed to complement Lumber Yard, this extensions defines a pattern of planks suitable for use in a bump channel, or as a mixer for any other shader. 3d Noise Factory: A comprehensive noise package that gives the user total control. 3d Spherical Gradient with turbulence: Excellent for paricle shading effects Other Extensions- Morpher: Morph targets come to Carrara! Morpher provides the capabilites of plug-ins that cost over $80 for Carrara's antecedant, Ray Dream Studio. This plug-in lets you achieve smooth facial animation, as well as many other effects. The process is simple: First, create your base object. Then, make copies of your object and modify them. Apply morpher to your base object, and it will smoothly interpolate between any number of target objects! 4d Volumetric Clouds: Animating volumetric clouds in a variety of shapes, with multiple user definable colors. Noise Tweener: Add randomness to your animations, great for use with Morpher Noise Deformer: Your model looking too perfect? Blast it with some noise! Provides the user with total control over the parameters." Fabien CREAFab, la crtion numique autrement...Thread: Plug-ins for Carrara | Forum: Carrara

There is a plug-in for bones and lipsynch for Carrara. It's availabel at www.losthorizonsoftware.com. It's cheaper than the AFX plug-in. These are its characteristics : Carrara Power Pack Company: Lost Horizon Software The Carrara Power Pack is a collection of 8 extensions that add a lot of functionality to Carrara. Morpher: Morph targets come to Carrara! This extension morphs one vertex model into a one or more different vertex models. Great for facial animation! 3D Lumber Yard w/ Planks: Highly acclaimed 3D wood shader, also generates 'planks' for customized wooden flooring. Planks: Complement to Lumber Yard's planks, this shader can be used for a bump map or a mixer for gaps in the planks. 3D Noise Factory: Highly Customizable 3D noise, including Perlin Noise (turbulence) 3D Sphereical Gradient: A 3D gradient that emiantes out from a user defined point. Great for explosions! 4D Volumetric Clouds: These are animatable volumetric clouds with many controls. Noise Deformer: Deforms the mesh of an object in a random fashion - great for making things look old and busted. Noise Tweener: Randomly tweens back and forth between keyframes, very customizable, great for use with Morpher. That's interesting because I also use both RDS and Amapi to create objects and scenes. It's a good price to upgrade to Amapi 3D 6 but you gan get Amapi 4.15 for free. Fabien CREafab, la crtion numique autrement...Thread: Help - want CARRARA (or do I)? | Forum: Carrara

Well, I don't use Carrara but RDS 5.5. It's very easy to use and to leard 3D. Actuallly, I'm trying to move to Blender, which is free, and can easily be compared to LightWave or 3DS MAX : it has bones, radiosity, etc. The interface is quite weird at the firs sight, but it rapidly appears to be very efficient. You can download it at : www.blender.nl Fabien CREAFab, la crtion numique autrement...This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
