This sounds very interesting to me, too. I'm just starting out with Infinite and have loads of stuff to learn - but once I get forward (which usually takes its time as I can't spend too much time on the computer...), I'd be happy to share things I have come across. Seems to me, there is a big need for newer Vue help - as mentioned, the manual is very basic and not too much into creative usage of the possibilities.
Thread: Black spots on renders | Forum: Vue
I had a problem like this with V5 Esprit a while back when my system got to its edge with a scene. When I finally managed (after some dozen crashes) to render, one element had those. They disappeared after I changed the lighting setup from Radiosity to Global Ambience and adjusted the lights accordingly.
Thread: "Thank You Santa"..... | Forum: Vue
Welcome to the club! Santa seems to have been exceptionally generous this year - a copy of V5I for me, too! yeah!! I just love it - except for out-of-memory errors when there's nearly 1 GB free :-( but that might be due to not being able to resist installing the latest (beta) update... In the manual, however, I would have hoped for more help on the Infinite-specific features, but from what I see until now, they are not explained any more elaborate than the simplest basic functions. I wouldn't have expected a tutorial on the "standard" way of faking a forest in an Infinite manual - rather an in-depth explanation of the way to do this with ecosystems of trees and undergrowth and such. Ah well, so I've gone straight to figuring it out mostly by myself with occasional reference.

You might also want to check out WorldBuilder. Haven't worked with it myself, but from what I understand it is doing things like forests quite nicely, too.

Thread: --2006- E-On Announces "Vue 6 On-Line" Version... | Forum: Vue
Scary ideas you produce here... Vue is my one of my most frequently used programs. Hard enough to afford in the first place for me - and now to imagine having to pay for every single use (which companies would love you to do, surely) wincing at the thought alone no thanks. BTW: Will you get in trouble for test rendering an image containing nudity at that stage? ;-)
Thread: Vue Esprit 5 (Deutsche Version) | Forum: Vue
Just forgot: Of course, there is a german manual in the box - if that is of no use to you, you'll be better off, having it replaced.
Thread: Vue Esprit 5 (Deutsche Version) | Forum: Vue
I've got a german version (willingly) and it was german after first installing it. However, since I installed the first update from the e-on site, it is english. I guess, I could turn it back to german any time, but haven't cared to do so yet. As I understood it, the basic version is english and it just has a german language pack. P. S.: I'm using a german Windows 2000
Thread: Another problem looking for company... | Forum: Vue
Wow, stupid one... Thanks, wabe! That was it. Had my Poser 4 libraries copied to P6, but not redirected Vue. Things seemed to work fine at first, so why worry?! ;-) Happily going to get on with my project now... Have a nice weekend!
Thread: Another problem looking for company... | Forum: Vue
Thanks for your answers. @wabe: They are in the default Poser6Runtime folder. However, I tried installing some additional objects there and none of them worked in Vue while they are perfectly fine in Poser (i. e. the Log Cabin, the Sun Dial etc.). However, using the Dance Studio from the same directory still works when importing into Vue just as do the playground objects or the Hour Glass. Even the materials of the non-working objects are in no way more complex or much different from the ones that work. The geometries themselves seem to work fine when @thomllama: I don't think I have any other app capable of opening .pz3 format files. And as OBJ works directly, there is no need changing it. @dlk30341: Thanks for trying. Maybe someone else will try with V5E... @SHONNER: Have already saved different objects under different names to close in on the problem, but to no success. Even changing the materials on an object, saving it as a new .cr2 and putting this into a new scene has not been of any use. I seem to run out of ideas what to try...
Thread: New Levee System in the Virgin Islands (CC Needed) | Forum: Vue
Agree to most things already said. Just wanted to add something that I'm not sure about how it looks in reality, but which makes me wonder a little - especially because the rock levee's are the central subject of the image: I would imagine them to have some kind of influence on the water's surface... maybe only some disturbance, but maybe even s hint of foam? As they are there to protect the beach, I guess they should also in calm waters have at least some noticeable effect. But as I said, I don't know how they actually look - you might know better :-)
Thread: OT - Lyne's new family Member! | Forum: Vue
We are, too, still in the phase of getting one cat used to another after some 4 months. They are mostly okay with each other by now, but it's still strange sometimes. One day it's like the big one has finally managed to make the rules clear and is much herself. Next day however she seems again to be really frightened of the little one. They are playing with each other beautifully outside, but in the house at least Jeannie seems to avoid Mandy as much as possible although the latter always tries to make friends - she is a really friendly and loving little cat. Guess, it really just takes some time... I hope, your two guys will be getting along fine soon so you can get some rest and enjoy them being friends. :-)

Alphas work acceptably well for backgrounds, but not for more sophisticated wishes like reflections.

Totally agree - am waiting for this (impatiently ;-) ) ever since I first put my hands on Vue...
