Thread: Too early to start wishlist for Carrara4? | Forum: Carrara
gavotte has a good point. I would like to see the ability to do chamfers and fillets on an edge and set its scale in vertex. Its not a CAD program but real world objects use them. It would save a lot of time over having to model it in the object. I would also truly like to see better effects system to keep me out of after effects. Can I say that? The fire effect hasnt changed from Carrara 0 and is.., wellnot very useful, real enough. I would like to see a better flame. Clouds and fog have always been great but like the flame, need a faster and smother rendering to them. A few more shapes added like a tapered directional cone, cylinder and cube (with controls for taper) would be nice. I would like to see unused shaders and objects removed automatically form a project when saved or an option added to the menu when saving. Transposer!! All the work on moving Poser 5 hair is lost. Please!! <<<<. I would also like to see an auto grouping of the poser objects after importing into Carrara. Mimic works after bringing the animation into premier for timing but can Carrara be trained for audio? Uh oh I said too much. Thank you!! And keep the programs evolving!
Thread: Texture Map Export Problems | Forum: Carrara
I agree with Exxtreme Ed. You should be getting larger file sizes when you change up. It might be better to save a copy of your existing Carrara folder then un-install and re-install it again then apply the patch and test the export. If it works you can then move your old custom files and shaders back. I had to do this a few times to clear up a few un-expected errors when rendering. Hope this helps. George

One major over sight for me before I get too excited, Anyone play with the timing of existing mimic files created with Poser 5 yet?

I asked the same question before CS2 came out. I would like to see something like Bryce lightning for Carrara but I think the master PC running Carrara would be a bit taxed with all that it has to manage. A stand alone render engine, server? that could be put on another PC so that your master box isnt tied up for a week just to do a test rendering would be nice. :) There goes glought dreaming again A lot happening in the background in Carrara (check you CPU usage during a render job) but I think they will come up with something soon.

Thread: HDRI software from ILM | Forum: Carrara
Attached Link: found another one that works.
This program will let you create and modify HDRI files that do work well in Carrara. If it works for you please let them know. :)Thread: Motion capture in Carrara | Forum: Carrara
I have MotionBuilder 3 and it looks like it would save a lot of time. The only thing that is getting me is why buy a new license every year. If a see a plug-in that will work with both Carrara and Poser I would just fork out the $200 and be done with it. From what I have seen the program has major potential for what I am trying to do.

Brother and sister once again! Please just add some enhanced character interaction between the two programs and not force another major learning curve on us. If I could move textures between Poser 5 and Carrara 2.1 and back with out going threw a whole lot of setup and changes I will be a happy camper.

Thread: which pc is the most speedy for 3d? | Forum: Carrara
Scott If you go to a PC I wouldnt touch any thing less then a 2 KHz P4 box for running Carrara Poser 5 or programs like Max. 512 + memory (As much as you can for animation) is a must for PC graphics and animation usage<<. I have tested a lot of the programs running on lesser boxes with a lot of frustration and they have all demonstrated very sluggish response times or lock up when rendering or adding heavy detail and textures. If you go with a name brand, make sure you know whats inside and pay close attention to the graphics card they are offering. I tried 3 top name brands and all of them displayed different colors on rendering and play back of animations. (Try and stick with whom you have used before or see if they can change the card). If you are up to it, also check out what it would take to building a box your self. You will get exactly what you want and what you need. I hope this helps. :) George

Thread: Smoke | Forum: Carrara
This smoke effect looks great. I have been looking for a good Particle smoke tutorial. Have you tried to map an actual smoke .AVI or .MOV file on the sphere particle yet?
