Thread: XP limitations | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
LOTR uses Linux, 3000 servers of it... OK, you told me you do not have Linux (need I mention it is free?) and if you wish to finish this project in a short time I do inderstand that using it seems daunting ( and not such a great advice). However, consider that all 3D feature films since Titanic were rendered using Linux render farms, so this platform did prove itself for this kind of tasks. On the long run you should give it more attention...

Well, it is ok for me now.
I did following:
Probably something got stuck, I cannot really pin-point where... but it's likely to be on my side and not DAZ, uh-oh :). BTW DAZ showed attention to my mail, thanks Allen!
Thanks, igohigh, for the advice about the cache.
EricofSD, try resetting cache and check if your DNS is setup ok, hope it works

Thread: Moving Poser 5 from HD to HD | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
LonCray, Poser5 supports to have multiple Runtime directories, so moving Poser software is not really necessary to use your new drive. Create a directory structure (without files) on your new drive (I suppose it is D:) that looks like Poser-DRuntime and underneath dirs Characters, Pose, Textures etc. Finally from within Poser, "Add library" --> Choose D:Poser-D.

Rendered with Poser5
Thread: poser libraries..ok im a dummy lol | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi,
Use the Windows (if you use windows:) file manager to move the files to their correct locations.
Search in this forum on "file location" to get handy info.
One useful link:

One word of advise, avoid to unzip files directly into the Poser directory, even when the readme suggests you can (The zip could contain refs to say German or Italian Windows versions and then for English Windows propably the file paths will be wrong). Unzip them to a new directory and then manually move the files to their locations. Edit the .cr2, .hr2 or .pp2 file to make sure the locations match. There is python script that check if paths are ok.
Another point for doing this is that it allows to organize things your way. If you have Poser5, it is possible to add extra Libraries. I put my extra (free or puchased) stuff in an extra library so I can easily see what came original with Poser5 and what I added.
Cheers and enjoy!
Thread: DAZ's updated Flip Hair | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For the update issue, Daz supplies a new installer. Mail to Daz to get it. Mail address is supplied in the error window.

Thread: Where's the texture path? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually all files (pz3, cr2, pz2, obj) can be read with a text editor. I like gvim (http://www.vim.org), it is very fast and lightweight, but there are (usually free)alternatives as gvim is more for Unix buffs :). I use gvim on Windows as it automatically converts between formats and saves in the original format. You may consider to get and learn to use such a text editor because looking inside these files is the best way to understand and hack problems you cannot fix with Poser. I use gvim very often to fix paths inside these files. There are other threads about text editors. Use search to find them.
Thread: I thought there was new policies in Free Stuff... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Free stuff is not an excuse for misbehaviour, or bad quality... Quality standards and conduct should not be measured by price. Unneeded reposts for unclear reasons should be banned.
