Keep taking pictures. I liked the desert shot. But in my humble opinion I think it could have been better if it were a sunset shot. New Mexico has some of the best sunsets I have ever seen. Make them interesting. It takes time. I have noticed that photography tends to take a bit of a back seat to 3d art on this site. Oh by the way, there are some pics on my gallery from the Santa Fe / Los Alamos area if your interested. All in all not a bad start.

I own two of his earlier works. I love his use of colors. Even though it doesn't change very often I look at his site every day to inspire and give me ideas.Thread: various films, polarizer caps, uv cap | Forum: Photography
I have a Konica/Minolta 35mm myself and invested in clear uv filters for all of the lenses I received with it. The price of a few filters is a lot less than the price to replace one zoom lens. 200 and 400 film is what I use in it. Here is a general list of what each film is good for. 100 - Bright sunlight, outdoor shots, outdoor still life 200 - Indoor flash shots, partly cloudy/sunny outdoor, shots that will be enlarged. 400 - All around general use 800 - fast action, low light I have used as fast as 1600 but it was when the Blue Angels were in town for an Air Show. That was the only time. In most instances, using a higher ISO will result in a grainy picture. Not something very pleasing unless that is the effect that you are trying to achieve at the time. I have just started in digital about a year ago with an old HP c200. Still waiting on my Canon Digital Rebel to arrive this coming Wednesday. Best advice is to get a roll of each and just experiment with them. When you do that I would recommend keeping a notebook with the info "camera settings, film speed, ISO setting, lighting conditions, picture description, ect... so that you can look at each one and reflect back on your settings and see what may or may not need to be different. Hope this helps Best wishes and good luck Jadench

Technically the photo is very good. (IMHO). About the only thing I can possibly think of would be if there were some shades of green amongst the trees. A little bit lighter. maybe have the ap open just a hair longer to allow more light. Kind of like taking a night picture. But the darkness also allows one to make their own picture in their mind. Thanks for sharing.

Have a stupid question. When taking candid shots like this for posting, does one not need a model release? I mearly ask because of a couple of ideas I have floating around my head. Just waiting to get my new camera before I start back up.

Paranoia??? Thats an understatement! You can't breath or even scratch your nose without the Feds needing to know about it for some reason. Someone near me was arrested and house raided with two computers seized for taking pics of a dam here. He wasn't even safe with a press pass. I'm ready to leave here and move.....Maybe the UK.....Nice pic of the dam though.

Excellent shot! Sometimes the most unplanned things make the most interesting pictures. I have seen people try to create things like this with various 3d art programs only to come up short. And all they needed was a camera with a fixed lens. LOL.
