Sounds similar to a problem a client of mine had. DW and ME didn't seem to like each other much. Their internal disputes disrupted damn near everything. Usual advice here, confirm all OS, driver, and app sofware is patched/updated (including DirectX). We pared back the amount of memory dedicated to the restore function, that helped a bit. For the diskscan problem, start in safe mode, then diskscan. That worked the best. Several attempts to contact the vendors(both OS and App) became an exercise in fingerpointing at the others product or some mysterious "third party s/w". Would love to say my brilliant technical expertise solved the problem but client upgraded to w2k pro and most of the problems went away (makes me think it was internal mem management problem with ME; MS knows and acknowledges this to be a problem when using apps that utilize large amounts of memory). Sorry about the long windedness, would be interested in discovering what solution works for you. Ron- Agree on the OEM installs, they are a pain to fix. jbear

Thanks all, I have a few more avenues to try now, unfortunately mamma bear (CINC Household) says I have to come out of the cave now and be social with the inlaws. I'll work on this some more tomorrow. Markdc- New PInstall doesn't choke anymore, thank you yggdrasil-I'm working on a PC, so maybe it is the Mac folder (sad shrug), I tried the unzip to temp directory and copying over, unfortunately it didn't work Jaager- Your system sounds easy once you know what you're doing, one day I'll be there :) Sharen- Thanks for the time and effort, I'll lick it yet Down, but not out. Jaager, I thought I knew what you were saying but between reading the solution and the text editor I got confused { version { number 4.01 } prop figureHair:1 { geomCustom Do I change propfigureHair:1? or geomCustom? No hair folder in geometries and putting one there named Custom with hr2 didn't work. There is a hair folder in libraries but it is where the file installed in the first place. This is almost as bad as registry editing or linux installing, but with the gracious help I'll get it yet :)... jbear

The zips had a "icon" file that choked PInstall and winzip. It had a character vis a three letter extension. I had to delete it from within the zip to even open the files, I'm wondering if it was needed somehow? If so, how am I supposed to uncompress, cause I don't think WinAce would recognise it either.

Since they are relatively new, we won't be able to upgrade h/w until next year :(, but they beat the pants off my home boxes. Thanks for all the info though!!! Jbear

Yep. Good boxes, so far. Why we got them for admin purposes I'll never know, but never look a gift horse in the mouth. (I sense a render in there somewhere) Jbear

Thanks. Not sure which build we're using and the IT folks aren't aware of the graphics box (unless they read this post). It seems pretty good with MS apps though. we're running Dell 1.o Ghz with 512M so it will be neat to see how far it can be pushed. Thanks!!! Jbear
