FYI, as I mentioned in another recent post. You can call it crosstalk, you can call it ERC. The problem is that Poser does not respond consistently to it across all versions ( Poser 4, 4.03, ProPack) and OS (OS, OSX, Windoze). Changing the clothing morph name will prevent the crosstalk but you will have to dial the morphs. If you have ProPack you can write a script that will look at the target figure, get its morph settings, then apply them to the clothings (after adjusting for the prefix).
Thread: Micheal's Morphing Clothes Pack ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
FYI, there is a reason that we purposely decoupled the morphs on the clothes from those on the body. During testing of the Vicky 2 morph mapped clothes we ran into some nasty crosstalk issues between the clothes and the figure. What was worse, it did not occur consistently on everyone's machine. Some people saw it, some didn't, on both Mac's and PC's. At that point it was decided to avoid the issue by adding the suffix to the names of the clothing morphs. It is a pain to set the morphs on the clothing by hand but the alternative was far worse. Hopefully Poser 5 will fix this problem. FYI, if you want, you can go into the CR2 for the clothing with a text editor and get rid of the suffix's with a global replace. However, this is something that only advanced users should attempt and you should only try it on a copy of the CR2. At that point the clothing morphs should dial with the figures, however I can not make any guarantees as to Poser's behavior on this issue.
Thread: Any news on Mike 2's Morph Clothing? jbrugion? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, the pak is still in production. The delays the last couple of months have been due to my spare time being eaten up by other priorities. The Mike2 pak will most likely be my last morph mapping pak as I see no reason to try and compete with Tailor at this time. For most morphs Tailor seems to be doing a reasonable job and I give a salute to Crosswinds as I know what they had to do to make it into a production item. So once the Mike2 pak is done I will be moving on to other projects. I think that if Tailor had an option to do all morphs for all body parts in one big lump, then producing clothing morph sets, especially for distribution to Mac and other non-Tailor users, would be relatively easy. If someone has an in with Crosswinds then I would urge them to tell Crosswinds to make that a definite priority for their next release. I would like to thank everyone for their patience, support and interest.

Thanks for the info. Found the BBay stuff. Very reasonably priced. I will redirect everyone there. We need somebody to start doing like they did with the old GI Joe figures, put everything you need for the character into one pak. Helment, uniform, weapons, backpack, the whole smash.
Thread: Semi-OT : Anyone tried dual Athalon's with Poser and GeForce3 or 4 ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah, Poser 4 doesn't do dual, maybe in Poser 5 ? I like two CPU's because while Poser or another app is crunching and eating up one CPU I can still work on the second CPU. I used to always go to Intel but now I'm wondering what dual Hammer CPU's would be like :-)
Thread: Semi-OT : Anyone tried dual Athalon's with Poser and GeForce3 or 4 ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I believe those are Pentium 4 Xeons (which carry a bigger price tag). The Intel Site says they're not making dual vanilla (non-Xeon) Pentium 4's. Pentium 4's and Athalons are in the $200-300 range, Xeons start there are go upward. Also the motherboards for Xeons tend to be a bit pricier. If you want to dream big, try http://www.the3dshop.com/ . We got a couple of their machines for my day job work. Dual Xeons with Wildcat cards. They absolutely rip. Of course, with a base sticker price of $6K ......

Working on it right now.... The Dress Shirt is done and at Daz and the last run on the T-Shirt is cranking right. I will be uploading it to Daz and my testers for a final QA check later today (Sunday). The updated versions of the shoes and boots are done but I haven't uploaded them to Daz yet. They'll be going up as soon as the T-Shirt is gone. I still have some last minute work on the pants, shorts and bodysuit. Mainly running smoothing code that I perfected for the Dress Shirt based on feedback from my testers. My testers indicated, and I agreed, that too much of the Mike musculature was showing up on the clothing. Thus I have been working on toning down and smoothing the clothing morphs to make them more realistic. This turned into something of a challenge for the Dress Shirt and it slowed me down a lot. As I put in a previous posting, the initial versions looked like the "Incredible Hulk". The final version is much improved over that but it took some time. I'm not making promises right now as to an exact release date as my life has also been somewhat more hectic lately, which is the other reason I've slipped this far from January. The biggest consideration for the release date is that I do listen closely to my testers on matter of look and aesthetics. I would rather spend another week getting something just right than meeting a particular release date. I just don't want to release a bad product and neither does Daz. I appreciate everyone's patience and I hope you'll be happy with the result.
Thread: Request to Curious labs, re latest Python version | Forum: Poser Technical
I asked CL about switching up to Python 2.0 for Poser 5. They are aware of the request. I was told that part of the reason that they used 1.52 was that 2.0 wasn't mature enough when they started the poser interface. I was told that there is some coding inside the main poser executable that helps set up the python interface. So, you couldn't just switch out the DLL's. In any event, you'd probably also need to swap out all the other poser files in the python folder.
Thread: Will we ever see a major update for Poser??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is just some guesswork based on my experience building software. Since Poser 5 is supposed to be a major release, figure 1 year to 18 months from the point your developers finished the last major project (which would probably be the pro-pack and the SR's for it). So, you're looking at some time this year as a SWAG by my reckoning. The year to 18 months comes from a normal development cycle for a major program. Figure n months each for requirements analysis, design and prototyping, coding, test, integration, fix and rework, beta testing, etc. As for collision detection, I don't know if it is in Poser 5 but it would be doable for a single CPU PC in the 450 MHz plus speed range. Certainly in an animation/rendering mode and quite possibly in real time or near real time for the GUI. Again, that's based on some work I did at my day job.
Thread: mike 2 clothing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Update for everyone- Slipped into next week. My testers, who've been absolutely great, raised the issue of how much of Mike's musculature should be visible on the clothing. For the Bodysuit and TShirt it wasn't bad but the initial cut on the pants and dress shirt didn't look right to them, too bodysuit-ish and not like real clothing, so I'm smoothing it over some this weekend. Comes down to trying to get a good looking Muscular4 on the clothing without it looking like the he's the incredible hulk about to burst out of it. TIA for everyone's patience.
Thread: MIKE 2.0 IS HERE! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Morphing Clothing Pack is in production at this moment. Currently shooting for a release next Thursday. Will include all the conforming clothing items from the Michael Clothing Paks 1 and 2. As with the Vicky 2 Paks it will include all applicable morphs. Would be out sooner but I have an infestation of relatives this weekend and I must deal with the three word phrase most dreaded by all parents at this time of year. Used to be that meant getting out the pliers, phillips-head screwdriver and a hammer (for fine adjustments). Now I have to worry about clearing hard drive space so that I can install their computer games. A Merry Christmas to All! P.S. Children of all ages check out www.noradsanta.org. My little kids loved it last year.

Daz store has tunics for both P4 and Mike. Browse through the clothing sections at the Daz store and you should find it.
Thread: Sharp edges in poser, coplaner and bevels hoping to help | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Beveled is good if you want to give a more realistic edge. There is another way to tackle this problem. A number of modeling codes have the ability to "break" a mesh. For a cube you would have a total of six four-sided polygons, one for each face of the cube. This does not increase your rendering load appreciably, or at all, and still gives you a sharp looking corner

Actually, the best solution is hit the "BrstNatural" dial a little bit. Pulls them down a little and under the armor.
