I read the posts on that forum and it doesn't fill me with confidence. But I did send Gigi an email - though I did mention (nicely) that if they would be requesting money, not to bother responding. They've already got an entire episode to review, and I've already spent a few years and LOTS of cash in MY development. So, we shall see if I get a response. I think it's great that a company would want to help out others to develop their properties, but scammers looking for money is something I (and I daresay everyone here) is not something that will be tolerated.
I'll let everyone know ho this query and the other one I have in the fire works out - one way or the other. :)
Thanks!

Thanks for the information Nance - I will pursue this. I'm also going another route via a LinkedIn contact - though nothing yet going with them either at this point. I would love to get some sort of development going, but realistically it's a longshot. Still, ANY shot is better than none. ;)
Thanks VERY MUCH for the links and info - it IS appreciated!

Out of luck. Received an email back:
Sorry, the craigslist email address you tried to contact (gigs-kzctg-2478099346@craigslist.org) belongs to an ad that is no longer active on the site.
Perhaps the address works for you because it's stuck in your cache? Maybe hitting refresh would show it's actually gone? If you come across it again - or something similar, let me know.
Thanks!

That's very strange. I just tried it again and still get that error. I tried it also in IE8 (1st time on FF) and get the same error. They must not like Virginia.
Anyway... thanks - I'll give it a shot. Obviously can't hurt. :) If I do get anything going, I'll let everyone know here. Might be more inspiration for others doing similar stuff.
Thanks!!

Quote - Saw a post on Craig's List, soliciting content for distribution, that sounded like it might be a fit for 'Scotty Chase'. I know nothing about the original poster, but their language sounded legit:
L.A. Production Company seeks content for distribution
http://houston.craigslist.org/cwg/2478099346.html
Probably the most impressive piece of work I've seen since I began playing here btw. (realized I'd yet to pitch in my kudos on the work)
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately when I get there it says:
This posting has been flagged for removal.
Figures. :) There was actually another similar posting on LinkedIn which I did reply to. His VP of Programming was/is supposed to get in touch with me. I also submitted it to Qubo, but you never know. So many situations are "time sensitive" in that they want certain content at this particular time, and any other content is not considered. Of course then a year later they may actually want the type of content that Scotty Chase represents but forget that they actually had the opportunity. Oh well.
And thanks for the praise. I appreciate any and all.

Not to mention a few extra pounds from sitting in front of the computer for "years" on end. :)
Seriously though, thanks for the praise. But please be careful - I don't need it going to my head, :)
Quote - I have only been working with Poser 8, GIMP and Magix Movie Edit Pro for about a year. I have some stuff on YouTube, but it's nothing compared to your work. I am just at the stage where I am starting to like my renders. I do mostly rendering to image files and put them together in Virtual Dub. I use Magix for dubbing the soundtrack. I do have a leg up there. One of my other hobbies is home recording...
I went from archviz stills to Scotty Chase with nothing in between. It was very much like a baptism of fire - I took on too much too quickly. Advising anyone today, I would say take on a "real" short and do something only two to five minutes max. And in those 2 - 5 minutes... shoot for the moon. Trial and error everything you can. Poser is capable, but if I were starting now and wanting to do more intense work, I'd learn Blender. Considering what Blender can do and the fact that it costs only the time to learn it... I would go that route. Then again, it all depends on what you want to do. I WANT to tell these sorts of stories while NOT having to work for someone else.
Good Luck!

Quote - Very impressive and fun to watch. Thanks for sharing your vision :)
Thanks! The goal was that it be fun and enjoyable for kids - and adults. I was trying to create a cartoon for kids that parents could sit through and not be bored to tears.
Quote - I was thoroughly impressed. You have set a bench mark for what I am aiming for. Of course, I have a looooong way to get where you are. I still have to learn so much. But now I see that it is possible with the right time and direction to make a viewable rendered movie. My hat is off to you, and I look forward to seeing more, if the muse grabs you.
Thank You! It is my belief that ANYONE can do what I've done. I do not consider myself an animator. I was just doing primarily archviz stills with the occasional fly-through. Nearly everything in this short was learned within three years. I came up with the idea at Thansgiving '07, wrote the script (actually wrote and rewrote) early in '08 and started acquiring assets during the summer of '08 and altering them Chris Orwell - Chrislenn from here at Renderosity - created the characters during the Spring of '08. I spent about a year working on creating the sets and control panels and character rigs.
I believe that anyone can do what I did - the most important ingredients are Persistence and Determination!

I love the words from the Dennis DeYoung song:
"Winners are losers who got up and gave it just one more try."
I'd like to think that's who I am. Well... hopefully. :)

Quote - Hope you make a million bucks with your vid(s) ... It's a breath of fresh air !
That was very kind to say - and I appreciate that kind of praise! I wanted Scotty Chase to be different from what we're used to seeing - but still be interesting and fun to watch. I doubt I'll make much with it, but I'm not giving up till I have to. Never give up, never surrender. :)

Quote - Wow!!! I can tell you spent alot of time in planning each shot of this effort
the soundtrack & the Camera work is excellent
Congratulations !!!.
try Contacting THESE PEOPLESeriously your production values are on par with many of their kids shows currently on air.
Thank you! I'll check them out. God knows I'd much rather being doing something like this than architectural renderings. :)
Quote - Your production is VERY professional but, I say again ... well, just view the image above
for my feedback about the website. cheers

Now I understand. Looks like my ctrl-c and ctrl-v didn't quite work in the 2nd embed. I've just fixed it. Thanks VERY much for the heads up and info - MUCH appreciated!

Quote - VERY Impressive !!! :thumbupboth: It appears that Part 1 plays for both Parts 1 & 2 ??? (on your website)
Both vids 1 & 2 appear to play correctly on YouTube.
Thanks! That's strange. I'm previewing with FF4 and IE7 and niether one plays BOTH parts from Part one. I guess it's no big deal, as long as you see about 22 minutes worth. ;)
Quote - Very well done indeed.
Very nice.
My complements
Thank you!
Quote - Very, very impressive! Well done.
Thank you!
Quote - What they said! Great stuff! Better than a lot of TV series!
Thanks. My goal was to base it on the style of the old 60's animation Jonny Quest. It only ran for one season and was canceled due only to always running over budget. It still left its mark on me as a kid.
Quote - Very cool! I could see this broadcast on a Saturday morning!
Thanks. That was actually the goal. Create a kids show that wasn't all of this morphin' stuff and was somewhat intelligent that wouldn't talk down to kids. And of course something that adults could watch too and not be bored to death. Unfrotunately Cartoon Network told me the animation wasn't up to their level and they didn't like the dialog. Oh well. ;)
Quote - It made me feel like a kid again! LOL!
That's great - unless you ARE a kid, in which case I didn't do too much. :)
Quote - WoW! Where did you find those Space ships and stations?!? Very cool story too!
Many of the items I used I purchased at DAZ and here at Renderosity. A few of the items I actually made from scratch, and everything bought has been altered one way or another. My philosphy is... why reinvent the wheel? If you can buy it and reduce your production time, why not? :)
My voice actors are all professional. The main character who voices Scotty - Brent Halfyard - also does the voice of the fox in the CarFax commercials. One of the coolest parts of this show was working with the voice artists - they were incredible and brought the production value up several notches. They were the best!
The first edit ran 34 minutes which I ended up whittling down to the 22.5 minutes so that it could run in a 30 minute time slot. But I guess that won't be happening anytime soon. I wish I had time to create a 2nd episode. The plot I have in mind will focus primarily on the kids with lots of action and suspense. Perhaps one day...
Again, thank you for all of the kind responses. I did work VERY hard on this short and it's great that it is appreciated!
Thread: OT - Project Messiah Animation Program | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah, it would have been smart to make it a Sticky - you figure it could be deleted in a week or so after the goal was met. And I agree, these forums need a MUCH better search function. I wasn't about to report back via an hourly progress report, I just thought some people here would like to start using a serious animation program using Poser assets. Poser is great and easy for creating people, but when comparing animation potential, it falls far short. And for $10 or $40... wow, you can't get anything better for animation.
Good luck all.
Thread: OT - Project Messiah Animation Program | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, and the title of the thread is "Subject: Do Not Post about the Messiah 3-D Promotion - it violates TOS!" First of all, I don't think it does. Second of all, this is an animation program that can help people who use Poser to animate.
As I said, STUPID thread.
And since I said I did look for a thread - but didn't find one - nice of you to point it out.
And yes Miss Nancy, I now see that thread - but again, it is a STUPID (and IMO irresponsible) thread title which IMO is incorrect. I can see if I was peddling dish detergent or anti-virus software, but this is an animation program that Poser users can use.
It doesn't matter, I'm done here. I wonder how many Poser users who animate decided to be smart and try PM out? Far be it from me to try to help out other users. Bah....
Thread: OT - Project Messiah Animation Program | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well... pretty stupid TOS. And I still didn't see it looking at the forum main page. VERY stupid in that the POSER forum wouldn't allow it.
Too bad. :p
