All of them do because of mental ray, which is a rendering option in Maya and Max, and the main render engine in XSI (in fact, I believe XSI was actually built around mental ray). So, if ef would buy a mental ray license we'd have SSS in Poser! :p

I got both Secrets of the Poser Experts and Practical Poser 7 and I'd recommend the later in a heartbeat! Very useful book. Secrets isn't bad either, but I consider it more of a source of inspiration than a book I can actually learn about Poser from. Focuses quite a lot on postwork and I didn't really need any Photoshop info. As an inspirational piece though, it rocks! Practical Poser 7 on the other hand, contains a lot of tutorials and information that you'll very likely put to use immediately.

Do we need one? I think Apollo does a heck of a job taking its place, and with DAZ's wonderful new "ExP Technology" I think I'd rather not see a new DAZ release...

Anyway, an advantage to using the casing is that you gain an external hard drive! :)

From your original post I got the impression you would just grab the files then discard the drive.

In cases like that, I usually just get an enclosure such as this:

This basically turns your laptop hard drive into an external one. These usually come with a USB cable with 3 plugs. Use the main plug on the hard drive enclosure and the long one on your computer. If the drive needs more power, use the extra plug for that. I've never had to do that though. I'm currently using that particular one I linked to, and Newegg is very respectable so you may want to look into that alternative.

Posette V3 is not a "collection of other people's morphs". Heck, she's not a morph (and she's certainly not Posette made to look like V3 either)! She's Posette with rearranged UV's so she can take V3 textures. That's it. DPH made a mistake including someone else's morph in the original release due to his enthusiasm and it has all been fixed already. Please, don't post confusing stuff like you did up there as it hurts the incredible work that DPH did on this model. Remapping UV's like that is a true labor of love. Anyway, I recently downloaded her DPH and I hope to use her soon - just have to get that Objaction mover. I would have preferred RTE but what the heck :D.

I'll be all over that once I get CS3 Extended myself. I'm currently evaluating my upgrade options. I own CS2 Premium and I'm very interested in the web Premium to gain Flash CS3 and Dreamweaver though if I can pull a miracle with a new project or two in a short timespan I may be able to splurge for the Master Collection. Gaining all those apps will give me a heck of a geekgasm!

I'm assuming the SE updater is simply that - an update for the SE content. You don't need it if you don't have it, or if you don't use the stuff. The Content Updater should be an update to ALL the content that the program includes except, of course, the SE update - why update SE content for people who don't have it anyway? Thus the Content Updater should be for everyone. I haven't been able to download it though since it's never worked when I try, but I'm just using my experience with past release.

Then, there are the Service Releases. These are supposed to target aspects of the software itself and as such, they are much more important than the Content Updaters. And if there's an SR 1.1 update, well, be glad ef is tackling the aspects of Poser that need fixing. Maybe what's fixed is something minor and thus it doesn't justify a full SR number so they added a .1.

Anyway, that's not unheard of in the software industry. I use XSI at my workplace and I recall that about 4 months after the release of XSI 3.5 they released the ill-designed XSI 3.5.1 update. That update broke a lot of render options so they had to hurriedly release an XSI 3.5.1.1 update. Pretty absurd huh? But it happens, even in the highest end segments of the market (and XSI's a heck of a piece of kit - used to be $14,995 for the Advanced package back in those days, it's around $8,000 now).

Those character presets are in the head. Choose it and under "Morphs" you will see "Full Head and Face" and "Character Presets". That's where they are.

Those are just the default dials? Man, I must say Apollo's one impressive piece of work! Can't wait to get my hectic schedule under control so I can get to spend some quality time with your creation. He's quite something!

Though I'm an AS fan and I have supported them for a while by buying quite a lot of their products (and yes, I purchased Alice the first time around), this sets off alarms in my head.

Make morph, sell 500+, pull it off, create big controversy over pulling it off and continue showcasing it in all their renders, creating huge demand then put it back for sale for a limited time only. I guess it's a great way to hype something up for sales but it just looks bad IMO.
