Quote - But be aware that you lose all the benefits of morph capacity by doing that.
What exactly do you mean by that? I'm curious as to what will be lacking by using the figure. What is compatible with it as far as morphs?
In other words, if I have a V4 character face morph, will it work with that figure?

Yeah, I'm aware of that. i mostly am getting it for the memory relief, honestly.

Pfft, oh yeah, free for the win. I'm not spending my money on anything that I'm not completely sure of, lol

I'm really anxious to try it. I heard it isn't as memory-intensive as Poser, which would help in render time greatly, I wager.

Awesome. I'm really happy about that. I've heard amazing things about the lighting system and I really want to try out the lights from callad that was put in FreeStuff. Callad's work is just amazing anyway.
How does it work with rendering bump maps in relation to Poser?

I know Fabiana has released some dynamic clothing, so I wager I won't be able to use that even if I did have the money to get it, LOL!
So really, there would be no harm in downloading it, then? It won't screw up anything with my Runtime or try to convert files, will it? It'll just tell me they aren't compatible, yes?

Quote - You can point DS to your Poser runtime.
Your Poser lights are useless in DS
Some of your materials may be useless.
mc6s that you access from the material room would need to be converted, but MAT poses are fine.
You can't use Python scripts.
Or your Poser dynamic clothes.
You need a free plugin to inject PMD morphs.Maybe forgot something
I can still use my Runtime?! dances around I'm really happy about that. I don't use Poser materials, I just use texture maps. So that shouldn't be a problem, right? Nor do I use dynamic clothing.
Speaking of which, how is the dynamics system with DS instead of Poser?
And regarding the flame war comment, I'm not trying to get into anything with anybody, I just want some help. I mean...if I didn't need help, I wouldn't post. So if they want to flame me, fine, whatever, but it's not very HELPFUL, which is something this community is known for.

...Regardless of whether or not someone has asked it before, I would like to know. So it is reasonable for me to ask.
Thank you ever so much for your helpful reply, jeez...

Thank you all for the tips, I really appreciate it! And the link was great, thank you. The dogtag is perfect.
Much love to everybody.
Thread: Question about Poser 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - try lowering it from 64.
BTW is your machine running any other major processes aside from Poser while you are rendering?
2G RAM should be fine for Poser firefly renders- no matter how "wet" you render is ( sorry, terminology from my musician days )
Nope. No other programs. I close everything else down when I render (unless it's a music player, but even then, I close that down when I'm actually doing the render). I'll try lowering it and see how it works...other than that, I'm...well...stumped. And, sort of ignorant when it comes to the real FEATURES of the program. How I've been using it is fine but a reflection is vital in the piece I want to make, lol.

Quote - Summer what bucket size are you set for in the render options?
64? more? less?Whatever it is set for -you might want to decrease the bucket size, lower bucket number renders draw on less memory ( but the renders take longer)
I'm using 64, I'm REALLY unfamiliar with using the Firefly system... I've used the Poser 4 renderer in all of my pictures other than one, LMAO
Thread: Question about Poser 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - You can just set P7 to use P6 runtime folder as external runtime. I did so with PPro and P7.
...Wow, I had NO idea you could do that.
.......How CAN you do that?! You've piqued my interest, friend. =D
Thread: Question about Poser 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Another question before I forget - I have about 17gigs of stuff for my Poser runtime folder. If I DO upgrade to Poser 7, can I just copy my old Runtime folder and overwrite the new one that Poser 7 creates? I mean, I know I CAN, but will it cause problems?
Thread: Question about Poser 7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - I currently use Poser 6 and have a tough time trying to render reflections. I've updated my system to 2gigs of RAM and it still says that there isn't enough memory to complete the render. And the thing is, it isn't a render full of reflections either. I only had one thing reflecting a character's face and it crashed the program.
What I was wondering, is if Poser 7 isn't as quirky about that sort of thing. Either that, or what I can do to fix the glitch or problem in Poser 6 so I can render reflections without a problem.
Any ideas or advice? Thanks,-Summer
Poser 7 is much better about memory related problems, IMO, than 6 was. It also appears more stable but, occasionally, it does just say "The heck with it" and crash during the odd render. Usually when I just have asked it to do too much on my older 'puter. However, if you're raytracing reflections and asking it to calculate 20 passes... that could be an issue. What are your render settings for raytracing? Raytracing reflections is one of the more intensive processes you'll encounter in Poser.
My settings are standard, I guess. I added a mild reflection to a knife and that was it, Poser 6 gave me the royal middle finger. It sucked majorly.
