Yes, you can get Amapi & Pixels3D (I think) free versions for MAC. Also see this link for several other free/shareware MAC apps: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=515693 There are a couple others but don't have the links handy.

There was a tibook around a year ago at the First Russian poser site, I don't have the URL though. If you can make your own you could go to Appel Product page (under Quicktime examples) for QTVR or MOV files to start with.

Clint has a nice tut on converting the finished model to a Poser model at his site: http://webpages.charter.net/chawkins2/ There may be some more info listed in the tutorials section here for making the models.

The "problem" with adding thickness is that you have to add to the file size. You will be able to see it in the poser preview window & that's the only advantage. It should still render fine even though you can't see the back.
Thread: ripping apart a pismo :) | Forum: Carrara
I just posted a couple links at the MAC forum about this, the second post is probably better as it cocers the bottom slot. Files can be found here: http://eshop.macsales.com/Tech/index.cfm?load=powerbook.html Have fun!

If you plan on using it on that Pismo do yourself a favor & turn off all the 3D "geewiz" features in the prefs. Stuff like drop shadows & zoom look cool for awhile but are taxing on the video chip. Also, I find that if I click on the upper left Carrara icon to "get info" about carrara (after it's launched) that the program seems to be more resonsive (MAC OS 9.0.4). Try it & see if it helps. Now that's a "stupid" answer so don't hesitate on any "stupid" ?'s.
Thread: Is Carrara for me? | Forum: Carrara
I use Carrara on a G3 400 Pismo, OS 9.0.4 & it is pretty stable. Another "thing" to consider is the available resources available on the "net" and user support. Carrara has outstanding support in that area. I use C also for quick concept sketches for outside photo shoots. It's a great help for photographers to do "rael" photographs.

Home: 15" LCD is @ 1024 x 768, CRT (2nd monitor) is same, 1024 x 768. Too bad Carrara dosn't support two monitors. Work: 19" CRT @ 1600 x 1200 for grahics work, 1280 x 960 for anythig else where I have to read alot of stuff.

litst From what I can gather Eric Wenger wrote the code for Bryce prior to 1988 and the first Bryce Camp was in 1989. AtariSt & Amiga were great systems but lost the market to the MAC. Bryce was MAC only at that time & that's why I believe Bryce was the first mass-market 3D app. That's all neither here nor there. My point is that this should be a good move for Eovia & U&I. According to Eric he still owns the source code to Bryce and has vowed to "eventually publish a version through U&I". Info from Eric Wenger (12/17/99)is here: http://www.halcyon.com/alrives/brycetips/messageboards/cafe/messages/939.html Is see that Eric is from Paris, France also. What's with the French & 3d?

Eric Wenger (U I Software) was the genius who brought the first real 3D app to the masses, Bryce. This "must" be a good move for Carrara and new rendering algorithums (just hope it dosn't slow-down as Bryce5 has).

IF you are good in solving math problems then this would be a great exersise to do with the forula function. I've seen a few of these "gordon" type surface models around & they are amazing. Sorry I can't come up with the URL let alone the math for the problem (I got into art 'cause I hated math!).
