Jaqui scribbled you sticking But what is he sticking to? Is the sticky stuff he's sticking to commercially available or is it still in the testing stages? Does it have general application capabilities or is it designed just for sticking forum members to something and what is the something it's designed to stick people to? and scrawled some more low life sob Hrrm, so what's the difference between sorrow for a low life and sorrow for high life? Is this stating that only low life types can sob? Do high life people not cry/weep/sob or do they have other means of portraying something that apparently is the sole domain of a low life so that they aren't associated with a low life. It's been my experience that high life entities go out of their way to avoid resembling low life entities even though the larger majority of high life entities actually do low life things more often than a low life. Do they have their tear glands removed perhaps? Enquiring minds want to know? Jaqui fell over the space bar cyber stretch And how far can cyber stretch. Cyber is the intro part of the term cybernetics, cyberspace and cybercafe etc.. I've not seen them stretch too far as they all have limits and cyberspace unlike real space doesn't show the reactions to gravity that normal space does, nor does it appear to follow any rational definitions of space because it's actually pretty crowded. And if cyber can't stretch does that mean that inorganic limb replacements containing power cells and nerve/neural interfacing to operate similar to a natural limb wouldn't have the same bending stretching qualities as a normal limb making them no fun on a rack when torturing people? And if a woodchuck was cybered, how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if the woodchuck could chuck wood? Back on topic And finally... this new rule that is used to wield old rules strikes me as a knee jerk reaction to several things that could have easily been avoided if only existing rules were applied evenly across the board for everyone on this place rather than randomly applied unevenly by people who judge things by an internal grading machine rather than site rules utilising eroneous definitions such as "moron factor" and "non-constructive negative" and similar such nonsense, and allow the "all members are equal but some are more equal than others" atmosphere to propogate in the first place. Also, Renderosity management were more than aware of the consequences of closing and deleting the old C&D forum. While that forum was universally ridiculed by large numbers of people it did have the advantage of keeping certain topics comfortably encased within it's walls and having a happy and generous crew available ready to flame/discuss anything into oblivion. Once that forum and it's "tension release" facilities were removed it was predictable that topics previously trapped in there would over-flow to other forums. Creating the OT forum for "discussion" was laughable. Reinstate C&D and use it once again as the general dumping ground of all posts not seen as desirable to have in other forums and things will quieten down to their pre-C&D deletion days. Alternatively burn Curious Labs, Microsoft, NVIAT image makers and AOL at the stake on the Whitehouse Lawn and perhaps a lot of the current "heated debates" will go away and leave the Disneyfication of Renderosity to continue unabated.

Not a lot at the moment. Theres "a" clothing pack for the mil-boy at Daz, though it's very limited in options, and Pre-teen pants-tee & boots Pre-teen hooded jacket Pre-teen Baggy Pants Pre-teen Baggy Pants' Vest Pre-teen Baggy Tee Top at Poserworld. Not exactly winter or wet wear but at least someone is making clothes for the boy. Afraid I'm not aware of anything else. Maybe Little Dragon or someone will know of some.

I know many people might "hate me" for suggesting this - but you might want to concider having serial checks on your download page for your service release packages. At least this will limit the amount of warez people getting access to the updates. This has worked well for Rhino 3d and Vue 4 helping "limit" the amount of people downloading updates for use on illegal versions, Not hating you at all because it's a perfectly reasonable suggestion but you're operating under the misapprehension that it makes a difference. It doesn't. Only in the short term and for casual use. All the updates for all software, serial checked, member checked, paid or otherwise are available if you know where and how to look, and let's face it there's no secret about where and how. :( It would prevent immediate distribution but it won't prevent it longer than a few days unfortunately.

dialyn: AlbertoFly, by the way, has no gallery on Renderosity that I can see, which makes me suspect this fly on the wall may be just another troublemaking fly by night. Oh Albertofly is slightly more than that, they're someone else entirely but I'm not allowed to say who. :)

Thanks Steve. Regardless of my other opinions I sincerely hope that this latest move by Curious Labs will encourage the various communities to keep a watch for Poser 5 warez and to help Curious Labs fight that trade in the way they've done in the past. Perhaps even a little more enthusiastically and pro-actively. It's not easy watching your work get warezed, I know that as well as any of the other companies and merchants around and it's nice when people support you and help by chasing links and sending you information to help fight it. Good luck.

And the games continue.... :( Sorry to hear about this Rena, just yet another step in the game I guess. One can but hope that eventually these niggly little things will get resolved and you'll be able to relax and enjoy yourself for a while instead of having to fight for your rights all the time. Oh well, here's hoping at least this bit gets fixed. Take care.

You tease... Well, for vapour it's looking promising - especially from the short list of features you've offered. OpenGL, Win/Mac/Linux and the "different 3d formats". If you don't mind answering at least a couple of questions. Hey, you knew when you posted this you'd get blasted from people around here with a barrage of questions, begs, wishes and general "wow cool" remarks. :) "be able to read several 3d formats" is a bit ambiguous. Poser can "read" several formats, but it can't work with them properly. Being able to load something is vastly different to recognising the format and using it properly. Poser can import 3ds but mangles the uv co-ords, hierarchy, parenting and most other things contained in the file. Will your app improve on that and utilise the various formats properly or just be another "it's a thing, here it is" utility that only utilises object? That's slightly more important than might at first appear and not just because of the obvious savings in space. :) I don't expect you to give a technical answer but some sort of explanation of that would be kinda nice. :)

Hehe.. Easy mistake to make Cyber, I also misunderstood that definition to start with. :)

Cyberstretch. There's a long thread in this forum from a ways back when the Poser forum got even more rigid about posting links. Started by Renapd I believe following a "you can't post a poserworld link in here" (Poser forum) comment. Essentially you can link to a non-commercial page (home page or freestuff page) but not to a commercial page - ie direct store link or to a "click me to buy this" page. The subject is explored in some depth because in the case of Poserworld and 3DArena posting even to the home page is disallowed. So now Steve posts images of what he's working on and updates go in the store announce forums. 3DArena I believe is still prevented from posting links here because it's a member site with a brokered store. RDNA only posts about their freestuff and Steve at Poserworld links only to his freestuff page, as does Sams3D. So, essentially you can mention to someone that you got "X" item at Daz, or by "artist" but you can't link directly to the product or product page. Nor can you link to pages that require access by registration. In the case of Curious Labs, they linked to their home page which is does not require registration, which contained a link to the product and free download pages and other areas. So didn't break TOS. As CL are directly responsible for Poser the post was extremely Poser related so again, not OT or against TOS. The problems arose from a huge multitude of "WIP and Coming Soon to the store" posts in Poser forum that were starting to bury other posts. Included in this were repeated posts. A few vendors didn't revisit something they'd posted earlier with a new image, they started a whole new thread. It was becoming ridiculous. The PTB here finally stepped in and created the Showcase forum and the majority of vendors went there without complaint - probably happy that they finally had somewhere to post a product that didn't get buried under a dozen "I hate NVIATWAS" posts and two dozen "I think Poser Gallery sucks" threads. :D So the general rule is Product mention ok Product linking not ok Product discussion ok if relevant to question Product spamming not ok Link to site ok Like to member only site not ok Link to freebies ok Link to store not ok. Or something along those lines. In a nutshell. :)

a genuine Red Ryder 200-shot carbine action air rifle BB gun.
Ever thought about doing this one?
Sorry, only just noticed this thread. Erm, actually no, I hadn't. BB guns aren't exactly high on my very self centred interest list. :)
Niles, if you want it, I'll make it, no charge and you can do what you want with it - just drop me an email so I can notify you when it's ready. I can't guarantee when it'll get made as I'm doing a couple things for Ironbear and Silvermage at the moment but I'll slot that beastie into the schedule somewhere. Shouldn't take too long though so I can maybe get it out to you next week sometime.
And just to give a quick taster (coz I can) the image is something I'm working on for a freebie project by Ironbear. The Clothes (red things) are by Xurge. Betcha can't guess what it is. :)

Shame someone has to abuse your generosity Welcome to the modern world. If it can be abused, it will be. A great shame, yes, but so very typical lately.

sigh Thanks for the heads-up Penguinisto. Sorry this happened as it sucks. For various reasons. Hopefully they won't haul you across the carpet for something beyond your control. Good luck for the future, have fun.
