it's a thread that the site admins watch so i'm sure your issues will be better "addressed" there.

Thread: Photoshop LE question... | Forum: Photoshop
hmmm if i recall correctly there is a trick to running ACTIONS on PSelements...
They are accessed differently depending on the version of Photoshop Elements, i think it was through the "How To/Recipe" palette. You used to need an "add-on" in earlier versions but i'm not sure if that's still the case. if you do need the add-on look here and go to the power tool section.
you can also read through this older article and see if it help.

Thread: Watercolor / Oil Plugin that gives realistic results... or for that matter even | Forum: Photoshop
Hi Superlite, welcome to the forum.
i've never really gotten good results via plugins but you can experiment with different filters and you might get the outcome you're looking for. a couple of recommendations i have would be:
make plenty of duplicate layers
use different blend modes
use quick mask to expose different parts of the image.
i know this isn't much help but alot of great stuff happens when you experiment

Thread: Dingbats??? Or other symbols - Making your own? | Forum: Photoshop
make sure you close PS before you dump the font into the FONTs folder or PS wont find it.
because PS loads the Font List at launch, any additional fonts won't appear until you launch it again...

2. make a new layer and draw a rectangle with the marquee tool and fill it with whatever colour you want the beam to be
4. While the triangle is still selected (it still has the bounding handles available) change the TRANSFORM from PERSPECTIVE to FREE TRANSFORM by "right-clicking" over the object and choosing it from the context menu. You can now move the beam around, rotate it by moving your cursor near the corners.
lower the opacity to give the best effect when overlaping the beams...
keep in mind this is just a quick way to do it and not by any means the only (or best) way. have fun and experiment and see what you come up with.
hope it at least points you in the right direction.

Thread: is it possible to create | Forum: Photoshop
one of the things that used to drive me crazy was you couldn't easily rearrange your brushes, you could create a "new" brush set but that is rather painstaking method when you have LOTS of brushes!
Well, now there IS a way to easily rearranging brushes, but the process is not to obvious:
There you go! at last we can move brushes around.

Thread: Font Issue | Forum: Photoshop
dreamer, can't you rename the font list file and force PS to rebuild it??
i know i did it in the past but i'm not sure how it's handled in the newer versions... but then again, it could very well be puking on the "too many fonts"... Hoof has a boat-load of Fonts on his system, i can't remember his solution. maybe i'll search the archives.

Thread: Save As VS Save For Web Options - for Renders | Forum: Photoshop
i would use the "Save for Web" option, as it gives you the most control (sliders, visuals...) .
the "Save As" option is more limiting -
BUT
if all you want is the file format to be a JPG (as opposed to saving it as a TIF) and you don't want "any" compression (100%) than by all means use the "Save As" for a quicker method.

Thread: Thumbnails | Forum: Photoshop
Quote - ...was the issue of "CAN NOT SAVE FILE "..." BECAUSE IT IS ALREADY OPEN" because of the psicon.dll or the fact that you have option set to Thumbnails?
that, was the bases for the "finger-pointing" - MS said it was because of the DLL and Adobe said it was because of windows explorers "display as thumbnails" so nether would work toward resolving the issue when complaints arose, they'd just say it wasn't their fault...
personally, i don't have the DLL anymore and stopped saving the thumbnails... i use IrfanView ( "iview") to browse through my image directories... it's faster, supports most image formats and NEVER crashes my explorer.

Thread: Thumbnails | Forum: Photoshop
the issue with the "PSICON dll" is a long running situation between Microsoft and Adobe.
some of you will remember having problems "saving" a file you've been working on and getting an "error" message saying something like "CAN NOT SAVE FILE "..." BECAUSE IT IS ALREADY OPEN" and the only recourse is to attempt to save the file under another name and try and delete the old file (which often refused to delete because it would say it "was still open by another program").
this was because of the way windows explorer would display the files thumbnail and not release the file properly... Microsoft in it's arrogance blamed Adobe for the problem and refused to resolve it so Adobe eliminated the functionality.
i'm glad you can still find access to the DLL but keep in mind, you may still find yourself with the "open file but can't save" problem...

Thread: Brush compatibility issues? | Forum: Photoshop
Adobe has been notorious for lack of "backward-compatibility" when it comes to brushes.
you need to create brushes in the earliest version of PS that you have access to (since you can only really have "one" version of PS on your system according to the EULA...)
stamp out your brushes in BLACK on to a layer allowing white space around it (on separate layers if you have multiple ones...) and save the file. have the person with ver7 open the file and "re"define the brushes in that version of PS and save the set.
this is the "same-lame" workaround for any version after ver6 when dealing with brushes made from a higher version - backward.

Thread: CS2 & Bridge | Forum: Photoshop
There are better solutions to digital management then using bridge as it seems Adobe still hasn't made it robust enough for real-world usage. I don't even like using the "view thumbnails" function in Windows - instead i use iview (IrfanView) to quickly cycle through directories of digital assets to find what i'm looking for...
count me as a non-user too

yup, we're open 24 hours (sometimes even in a row)
don't be afraid to ask a question, even simple ones (those are the ones i can answer... it's the "meaning of life" ones that throw me for a loop!)

Thread: Batch watermarking | Forum: Photoshop
Hey Jack, i still don't have any of the current "CS" flavours of Photoshop yet (both wife and boss say an upgrade isn't in the budget...) but couldn't you make your name and (c) mark as a separate image and run an action that opens it and places it on your image (of course changing the "blend-mode" and adding any "layer-effects" like emboss...) and then run a batch on that??? then you can just make it a "droplet" for future use... i'm in the middle of website construction or i'd make an action to test it out, but in "theory" it should work fine. maybe later tonight before i crash i'll give it the old college try and see if it does indeed work or if i'm just blowing smoke ;) Scott
