lol, I like the way you put that, hopefully this gives no more room to any offense to anyone, lol. And (since you have this in your signature) Merry Christmas & Happy New Years to you :)
And Seasons Greetings (without any offense to anyone and all that jazz), to the rest of you :)
So far mine's turning out with a bad taste, have submitted a product here last week and was hoping to make some money by the end of the month to pay the late internet bill as promised, before it gets shut off, but haven't heard from Rendo at all. Am getting very worried. So, I'll take some luck out of your wish and hope it all falls through. :)

Thread: Problems since trashing my C++ Redistributable | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Probably re-install DS since it installs C++ Redistributable all the time (every install installs the same one over and again). And apparently it does it so you can conform things or whatever it does. Hope that helps, other then that, I have no clue really.

Hmm, there's something I didn't think of. Thanks for the answer, kyhighlander!

Thread: Leaving a product review | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Hmmm, I went to a product I bought long ago to look for the answer, but there's no way to leave one. Then I went to a product I bought after the change of Rendo's format and saw that I can leave one. Apparently Rendo's new format doesn't allow us to review products bought before they changed it. That's the only answer I can come up with.

Thread: OT: Why is it | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't think Hollywood is meaning to be rude by going with "boring" stastistics, it's always been that average men were taller then average women, it's life, it's... just... simply... life. If you want to change that, study science, change DNAs or something, do something dramatic that changes the way the world was created... (or boomed, or spoken, or just came into existance, however way you wanna say).
That being said, I've heard numerous times that in history, the man was to care for the woman, to protect her, to "tower" over her to make her feel protected, and to provide for her. I've heard women (with my own two ears) say they want to feel protected, and yes, that they want a tall man.
There's nothing wrong that women these days want to rule the family and beat their husbands to the pulp if he doesn't straighten out, and to go to work and provide for her own self because they hate the "boring stastistics" (you know I'm kidding... lol). Seriously, there's nothing wrong for women to feel equal in their relationships instead of being ruled over. We're getting more and more of that as time changes, and the little men (below average) are becoming more attractive to women (apparently, that's what you women are saying, right?).
But get real, Hollywood is only following average stuff. But, I do see there are shows where women are taller then men, so yes, things change as people change, just be patience. Hollywood would be dumb if they didn't change along with everyone, 'cause they're serving "entertainment" for them, and if the people stop watching their movies, well, it's time for Hollywood to change.

Thread: question about shadows in renders | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Occasionally you see a profoundly stupid default setting in an app - that would be one of those!
I'll say "Amen" to that, lol! What makes it embarrassing though, is that I never got that till just now (3 years doing this) lol.
But, well, like I've always said, even the smartest man who's very absorbent can miss the simplest things.
Err... OT here, doesn't Rendo have a spell checker??? What's up with this lousy new forum scripting? I had to copy/paste everything here to another forum to correct 3 misspelled words lol.

Thread: question about shadows in renders | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
1st render (both renders together since we're only allowed one upload... a very small one that is... at Rendo forums) has raytraced shadows set at 4.0, with shadow bias at default settings which is 1.00. Look at her left shoulder and right arm , where the shirt's gaining in on her skin (and the bottom of the sleeve on her right arm), note the "chopped" shadows. Then look in side the shirt, at her left arm, note the "light" line, looks like there was a gap in the shirt letting the light in. Now look at the partial transparent part of the shirt. Notice how you see a lighted part at the beginning, how shadows start about a half inch from the "belt" of the shirt, and how on the ripple of the shirt, the further away, the further up the shadow? This was also a mystery to me when using partial transparent settings on clothes.
Now, look at the bikini, specifically on her right side. Notice the "blahness" that leaves you to thinking with no outline or shadows? Yes, I used UberEnvironment light for DS, that is, "IBL" in Poser language, which brings in occlusion, but the maximum raytrace distance wasn't high enough for an outside render (less things closed in on the subject of the render). With the MTD set higher, the occlusion would've been more visable on the bikini edges, but I left it alone.
2nd render, shadow bias set to 0.10, now take note of her left shoulder, right arm, shirt, and bikini again. Note how much more "outlined" they are and that there's no mysterious "gap light" in her shirt, and no funny ripple shadows.
Figured this would open some eyes here :) BTW, no funny spots on the lower settings, thankfully. That's another reason why I don't deal with deep shadow maps ;)

Thread: Dynamic Cloths will not load. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - bluebott, when selecting the clothes right click and select merge then it won't delete out v4 this is a studio file thing...lol
Hmm??? Of all the time having dynamic clothes since DS3.0 up to 3.1.2.19, I've never had that kind of problem. I didn't install DS3.1.2.20 though, don't feel like meeting new bugs after already pulling most of my hair out lol. This can be one of the new bugs which is NOT welcome on my computer lol!
Selecting V4 and the dynamic clothes confirming to V4 at load, that's not a problem with DS (Daz Studio) or users, it's that OptiTex apparently doesn't have them conform to V4 anymore, or at least none of the freebies do anyways. Most store bought dynamci clothes conform to her as long as you have her selected. Probably a restriction from the store itself.

Quote - If you want to take it a step further, see what happens when you set blur radius for your raytraced shadows (I like it set to 2.0 lately)
2.0 is nice for ground shadows, but 5.0 is where I set mine when doing close up of, say, a character's face.
zorares, that looks a lot better :)

Quote - I'll concede V4 can be made to look rather nice. Just the default load is a real hound
I agree, she's ugly. But, I've seen her look better with certain textures, was rather surprised.

Quote - Ack don't be like that, nobody said you are stupid!
Look at each light Parameter Dials -> Properties tab and check what kind of shadow the light is set to cast. If it is set to Depth Mapped (pretty sure it is), you can look at "Min Shadow Bias". If it's set to Raytraced then something else is making that bright line under the brim of the hat.
Be warned though, with your render settings that high, with raytraced shadows, be prepared for a long render. There are lots of things to learn, and lots of things to sacrifice in this 3D world lol, trust me. And no, I too disagree that you're stupid, no one's stupid. We may be smart in one area but haven't learned a thing in another area, doesn't make anyone stupid :)
Quote - While on subject of lighting, there are two many shadow casting lights in scene. There are not many circumstances where one sees multiple shadows, and with snowman this would seem unlikely.
At least he's got shadows, which is more realistic then even a lot of promos I see hahaha... when looking at a lot of promos, ever wonder where the shadows are and why lights shine under neith the hair or elsewhere unrealistically? snickers

damn, I hate Renderosity's new post script thing they use for posts and sitemails, you can't tell if your sentence is gonna be "double line enter" or "1 line enter" or "mixed" and it hates Firefox which most people use.
Thread: Can someone identify the hair model used in this image? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That looks very much like the Christine Hair by Neftis over at Daz http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/christine-hair?item=8488&_m=d except with added bangs. The bangs actually look like a separate prop in the promos anyways so I'm pretty sure that's the hair.

Quote - The gap is usually shadow min bias - objects within that range do not receive a shadow. Don't ask why it exists - just decrease SMB. If you decrease it, and see little black spots all over the place, you went too far.
And pjz99 makes a great point - raytraced shadows are preferred in most situations.
That is quite interesting. I've heard that too little SMB creates spots, but never heard the purpose of it. Gonna have to see about that in DS, as it does the same thing when using Deep Shadow Map. Though I never use DSM, as the shadows look too much like garbage/smeared black charcol for nice renders.
