I probably seemed guilty as I posted the UV maps for all of the clothing, but I made them with UV Mapper. I didn't know they were available on the CD. Guess a lot of other people didn't know, either. Boy, did my bandwidth get slurped that month! If anyone is guilty of posting from the CD, could you e-mail them privately? I'm one of those paranoid people who assumes immediately that I must be one of the culprits. Thanks for letting us know for future reference!

Try Brycetech (lots of tutorials): http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Program/3093/tutor/bryce/tutorials.html or Bryce Tutorials (links to tutorials): http://www.datasync.com/~gsmithjr/tutorial.htm I've printed a full book of information just from Brycetech!

It's in the 60's right now over here and may be in the 70's for X-Mas. We haven't had rain in over 3 months. Snow -- heard the word. What does it mean?

If clicking the banners covers costs and nets Jack a dime or two I'm going to wear my mouse out. It isn't costing us anything to come here. Despite dire warnings, our e-mail addresses have not been sold. (If they have, they've been sold to the laziest advertisers I've ever run across.) Even the most prolific uploaders have gotten more out of Renderosity than they've put in. Jack & co. are the ones who have paid, with time and dinero. Compensation is more than fair, so long as it is ethical. (Again, they've had lots of chances to make money off of us in less than nice ways.) Not many people here should complain if they make money fair and square. Nice guys shouldn't finish last.

What is Strata? I've never heard of it. I tried RDS and hated it. Carrara looks neat, but I don't trust Meta Creations right now. (Wonder why!) I don't need high end functions, just extruding, boolean cutting and lathe right now with export to obj (if possible.) My learning curve on 3D programs has been pretty flat so I'd rather have something that can do a few things relatively easily. Animation is not a concern.

I posted a new message that gives a bit of hope. It links to an Internet Eye article that can be found at: http://the-internet-eye.com/features/dec99/metacreations_special_report.htm We're not necessarily done for yet! (Thanks to Grey at Poser Forum.org for the original alert!)

You have some nice models. Could you please get rid of the lime green and blue lines though? They're scary!

Paint Shop Pro would work just fine. It seems to be a popular choice here. I haven't tried the Painter 3D program. Thanks wyrwulf, for letting me know that it can be used for the textures!

You need a photo editing program like Paint Sho Pro, Adobe Photo or Corel Photo. What I do is take a texture map (this is included on the Poser Accessories disk) or grab a texture map from this site and over lay a picture on to it. I made a decent Poser guy that way. You'll need to stretch/distort the photo a bit to get it to map properly. It's just a matter of patience and doing touch ups. As a general rule, you'll want to turn the Poser model white. Absolutely white. Make sure that the check box for "Texture change applies to entire figure" is checked. Get every part of the model white. (In the upper right corner of the Render Options box is the drop down list for all the body parts.) For hair, the hands-down favorite tutorial is at http://www.vowel.or.jp/~kozaburo/tutorial/hair.html If you need more help, let me know. I'm not the best on the Forum with this stuff, but I can certain point you in the right direction.

Be ready to monitor it, though. Some of those kids are going to try load to things best put in an adult gallery or best not posted at all. Make sure that there are solid guidelines so kids (hopefully) understand what is appropriate. Can the kids autopost or does it have to be manually inserted? Even though it is more work, you may want to have final approval before it gets displayed. The teen-age group, especially, will try to abuse the acceptibility guidelines. One last thing, you may want to break down the 10-16 age group into 10-14 and 15-18, or something similar. Technically, 17 and 18 year olds are still kids. They get excluded from the kid stuff but not allowed into the adult stuff, either. Be prepared for a lot of Pokemons!

Thanks! This site is great! http://www.interq.or.jp/red/pandt21/DLmenu.htm will show you the various categories, and the categories are in English. When you look at a particular category, the descriptions are in Japanese, but there are thumbnails. I'm filling up my hard drive right now!

Nice tunnel and really nice water. The diver needs workm though. His back is very angular and his arms are positioned wrong to hit the water. Is that sand texture available somewhere? I'm always on the look out for realistic ground textures.
