Thread: last ? i promise:-) is there a way to make a thumb img for library browsing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
How about this: 1.) Move the item to the appropriate Library folder. (Using a file manager utility). 2.) Run Pose, and go to the appropriate library. 3.) You should see the guy shrugging wherever the item shows in your library. 4.) Click on it so it loads, then choos the texture render option. 5.) Click the plus sign to add the element, and name it the same name you got originally. 6.) Say yes, when you are asked if you wish to replace the item. 7.) Now it shows in your library. I go back later and save all the appropriate new files (such ast the rsr file) where I backup everything I've downloaded.

One thing about docs/tutorials. I've printed out some pages of the Poser Tutorial and found it quite disappointing in many ways. You have me deleting all my lights, but don't tell me how to get things back to normal. You have me twisting the Casual Woman into a pretzel shape, and don't tell me how to get her back to normal before moving onto the next lesson. I get so that I don't do anything till I see if you tell me how to undo it and get back to normal. If I persist in this good cautious approach, I can forget using your tutorials.

OK, what I did awhile ago was this: I took screenshots of the default folder structure. Then I illustrated how some folders could be added due to installations. I showed how some folders would be added to geometries, characters, props, textures, etc. The key here is the ability to show screenshots of whatever state you're illustrating. That isn't easy unless you have screenshots of the default setup, then make screenshots for any changes you wish to illustrate. I think I may have those screenshots still around...but am not sure. I got to the point where I stopped trying to save stuff to CD and finally just fdisked my drives so I could regain control of my computer. (After the virus I got.)

"Legend has it" that Bill Gates befriended the guys who created the Macintosh, and ripped them off.....Well if I understand correctly Microsoft owns a piece of Apple now? The screenshot I posted is actually from PowerDesk Utilities file manager. I never could stand Windows Explorer. They left out too many good features like copy, move, etc. Or if they are there, you have to stand on your head to make them work. So it's Powerdesk Utilities for me, always. (Besides PowerDesk has so many other features, including built in zip capability, etc.)

I've talked to many technicians, on a daily basis at my workplace. There is no such general believe that Windows ME is the worst version of Windows. As I've stated above, those who have problems with Windows ME, have overall computer problems that they most likely had before and will have again.

Thread: 1910 style icebox | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had a few apartments that had ice boxes. I don't think they were quite that old. But the apartment buildings had a "trap door?!" in the wall. The ice man could apparently stick a block of ice in the door, or pass it through to the person in the kitchen. In most cases, they had permanently closed these doors for security reasons (Minneapolis, MN has a lot of crime), but it was really neat to see this stuff. In one apartment I still had the ice box which of course was not used for its original purpose any more... I got a kick out of looking at it and imagining just how things worked.

Huh. I ran it for a few weeks and had absolutely no problems. (Release Candidates 1&2) The only reason I took it off my computer is that I wanted to have only a "commercial operating system" on my computer till I could afford to buy XP.

ARGHHH. I bought Poser v1 (By Fractal Design) back in 1996, and never figured it out. I left it on a shelf, and then a few months ago, discovered Poser 4.. I've barely scratched the surface, but have accomplished feats I'd never before imagined I could do. And there are countless goodies I'd like to add....when I get money. Now we're talking Poser 5?! Hey I am still trying to figure how to save and buy Windows XP.
