Can anyone tell me how to do shiny but opaque plastics just using IBL?
If I use it straight I get a rather flat object and no nice shiny dot.If I use sunlight as well and manage to get the sun pointing in the right direction with soften shadows it looks better but the plastic looks translucent instead of opaque.
The only work around I've come up with is to reduce the diffusion in the materials lab to get something like a shiny but opaque plastic but using sunlight and HDRI. OK for plastic but not what I want if I'm using any other material and HDRI.
So has anyone else encountered this and how did/have they overcome it?IF they did.

Soory about being tardy in replying but I've been away to Wales for an Easter Break.Missed my PC but got lots of inspiration from the beautiful Welsh hills and the wonderful spring overcoat she has put on.
I can see that after a long period with the site the way it was that you might be a bit annoyed at so many changes at once.I would have been the same if I'd bothered with the site and got used to the lay out but I've had to contend with other sites changing the way they operate and coping with change..something I would have thought creative types could cope with well.Being adaptive and open to change is surely the best way to develop if your work is not to stagnate.
I'm also a little annoyed at the age of 53 to be told that because I'd rather post in a forum set up this way,use an avatar and smileys that I'm childish..But maybe the lack of a signal such as body language or a facial expression has led me to misunderstand what was actually said..If it was meant tongue in cheek? If not I guess I should just put it down to artistic temperament I suppose?
Good afternoon.

I can do without the avatars and cr@p but I found the old style forums too difficult to deal with.Too much clicking on links to get to the nitty gritty. This way they are all laid out.
I think the major complaints are because everyone had got used to the bad old system and knew the quickest way around it.Me I couldn't be bothered so I went elsewhere for info.
I also could do without the rudeness that seems to abound here..Maybe a few smileys might help a posting or two not seem quite so antagonistic. With only text and no body language to clue one into someone's state of mind smileys can help...Frankly I think this will be a much better site for the changes in the long run. It's certainly faster than the old system which even my BB was struggling to cope with.Even the searches are faster and I didn't think t would be possible considering the huge catalogue available..Now I'm going to use a smiley to indicate that I'm not unfriendly or aggressive in replying to you.

Ditto.
Thread: I'm sorry but if this does not get fixed I am speaking with my MONEY! | Forum: Community Center
I think the speed all depends on what time of day you arrive here and just what folk in other time zones are doing. The cross over between the UK time zone and the US time zone(s) can cause quite a slowdown.

Well perhaps for those of us on broadband it may well be that our fellow BB'rs on the same UBR are just downloading 24/7 and maxing out their connection and leeching ours as well.Or maybe those of us in the UK are just hitting a bottleneck somewhere between us and the site. The faster we go the slower we get..Well so it seems to me.Just off to see if I may be allowed to possibly buy something.

I thought it was just me and my sick hard drive. Some days I can't even spend my money here because I forget what I'm looking for waiting for pages to change.

Thread: Broken Links in Free Stuff | Forum: Community Center
I understand about whom to contact in the Marketplace but not Free Stuff. So whom do I contact about broken links in the Free Stuff section as it covers everything?Do I contact the Bryce forum area for broken links in just the Bryce area etc? Sorry to be asking what seems obvious questions but the info doesn't seem to be immediately obvious to link to. Thank you.
