Quote - I can't comment on Vue vs. Bryce, having never used Bryce, but from experience you will probably want the Vue Ecosystem module. I started out with Vue d'esprit but soon learned that Ecosystem was necessary for realistic scenes. Otherwise you have to place hundreds or thousands of individual plants yourself. Look at the price of Vue d'esprit plus Ecosystem module vs. buying Vue Studio. Hope this helps.
Thanks, this is helpfull. I couldn't help but wonder how you shrink a $1400 program down to $199 without a great deal of comprimises. Seems you have to customize the program for your needs. I'll have a look at the gallery as another poster suggested to see if I can get some more insight. I'm having trouble downloading the trial version.
I was getting back to Bryce after a many year absence and was a bit put off by the fact that the interface didn't seem to have been updated much. It forces a full screen, doesn't have multiple viewing angles, and the icons around the edges are miniscule on my 20". Somebody please straighten me out if those can be adjusted.

Thread: Transport and Archive Projects | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - Hi folks,
I'm looking to transport projects in progress from one computer to another in order to work in different locations. When finished I'd like to archive them with all the models and textures in a single folder. I've used one of the scripts that comes with Poser 8 (can't think of the name), but it seems to always leave something out. Is there a better way to do this or might I be doing something wrong when running the script?
The thing which comes the closest to what you want is "Collect Scene Inventory". The version in P8 however does leave sometimes some things out, but also gives a couple of warnings regarding poser helper objects which you can ignore since they are available in each installation of Poser. The P9/PP2012 solved the problem of the missing files
The script copies all the files belonging to a scene (obj, textures, pmd, etc) and creates a new scene referencing those files. You can zip it up and unzip onto another machine with (the same version of) Poser and render
Sounds like one reason to upgrade to Poser 9. I think I'll have to do a combo of what you and Laurie said. Collect Scene Inventory then manually add whatever pieces are missing. Tedious but doable.

Thanks for the replies folks. Actually the vendor came through with the same advice to turn off smoothing and it works fine now.

Ok, there was no CR2 file but a look at the PZ2 associated with the texture showed this:
bumpMap ":GhostV3BFBodyB.bum"
Further investigation reveals that I have the same texture in my runtime but marked with a PP (Poser Pro I assume). These files have a line like this: bumpMap ":GhostV3BFBodyB.jpg"
The jpg files are present. Which solves the problem of this particular piece of content but begs the question; why do some versions of the texture ask for files that aren't present?

Quote - If it's asking for the file than something in the scene/character is calling for the file. You can check the CR2 for any reference of the files in question. However, I thought we used to use BUM not BUP as the extension for Bump maps.
You're probably correct as I don't have Poser in front of me to double check. I wonder if I can still edit my post.

So no love for James, Alyson or the G2 figures?

Thanks for the info vilters, I'll look at the meshes as you suggest. The main thing keeping me from using those older figures are merchandise, hair, clothing, characters etc that seem to be available in greater numbers for other figures. I also like to morph my faces alot to give them ethnic features or age them. Can I do that with the same granularity using the P4 figures?

Quote - V4 has less polygons than V3 does. Something to keep in mind.
Laurie
So are the amount of morph injections the main consideration?

Thread: do you want to make comics in poser? check this out. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Please excuse a newb but I don't quite understand shaders. Are they the same as materials and/or textures? If I buy or download a set of shaders how are they loaded and accessed in Poser? Also would I have to apply them to each individual object, figure, clothing, props, etc, or do I just turn it on like the built in toon renderer?
Thanks in advance for clearing this up for me.

There is some handy tips on here regards creating planets and getting the right sky.
Very Helpful,
thanks

Comes down to trial and error and render, render, render. I need to experiment with more haze and clouds so the planets don't look as close.
The files I found aren't the same as I remember. There were many, many more. I'm not sure if those old files would even open in the latest Bryce anyhow. The ones I found really look dated these days. I think they used ol school materials.

No problems. I found them on Daz's website under "Bryce 5 content pack". Not sure if it has all the scenes I remember but a pretty good start. I wonder if the terrains and gels and such are any different than what comes with B7 already?

Nice. Looks like she can't decide between the strat or the . . . uh . . . what the heck is that guitar anyhow? I've been having trouble getting my Foberstack working properly in Poser. I have to import the .obj files from disk but then the textures give me an error message. Anyhow, my computers been down for a while so I can't work on it now. But keep the images coming.

Quote - Hi false1,
I've tried that Jimi-thing earlier (2008) and wasn't very satisfied.
He looks a little bit like an action figure (I should do him into a blister -- LOL).
It's really not so easy to get a convincing performance in the picture.
BTW: Your pic is nice, but has no vintage feeling.
Henning
Not too shabby. That guitar cable looks good ( not plugged in though, doh!). Still wondering how to pull off the guitar strap. What model is that?

Well, the first order of business was to practice posing and see if I could create a reasonable facsimile of the master. Having come this far I agree that the Tele is not the guitar to use. I can't remember ever hearing screaming guitar tones out of a Tele. Nice looking guitar model though.I'll have to speak to the guitar modeller mentioned earlier or buy the strat I see online.
I'm surprised to be able to pose the fingers as well as I have thus far. The hands on this figure seemed pretty big as is but i don't see a dial for hand size. I understand that enlarging hands is problematic on the more recent figures. More practice and tweaking and I might be able to wrap that thumb realistically. A bigger issue will be the guitar strap and guitar cable. Maybe I'll have to add them post render. I don't think I've seen a poser guitarist with a strap before.
That said, coming back to Poser after many years (my previous version was Poser 5), I'm amazed at the realism and wealth of content available these days. This...is...FUN!
