Quote - > Quote - > Quote - The $50 spending requirement does seem rather high for the average buyer.
Well, with 15% off, that's a cost of $35, so that isn't too high. I must admit, though , that I've been spoiled by the big percentage-off sales at DAZ and RDNA
However, I'll need to have a good, hard look at my wish list, as I have a few Clearance items that I was hoping to use a coupon on, so I guess I need to decide if they are worth the current price or if I should just delete them.
As far as the thread, I think it has given me as a customer a valuable look at what vendors have to deal with it, and It's been good to hear the views of Bernie, Gabe and Laurie, among others, who are skilled artists whose work I admire. I'd like to hear some of the issues that the MP administration has had to deal with the growth of the site and traffic, but this thread obviously shouldn't be that venue. Openness and honest discussion are good, and the I think thediscussion here has been quite respectful.
Thanks icprncess! (in case anyone doesn't know, "Bernie" is me). It's a view (50/50 cut) I've wanted to discuss openly for a long time but wasn't sure what anyone else thought, and I'm glad I see I'm not the only one in this boat. I'd like to see Renderosity's feedback on that as well.

Quote - > Quote - I can tell you from when I was a tester a few years back, much more than just file path errors and missing textures are tested. We were expected to test the actual product for usability, and the review team reviews it for marketability before it even gets to testing. Just FYI ;)
From my experience, it is just not the same level of QC. Yes, Renderosity tests for pathes and such (nevertheless, I got a product with wrong paths more than once) and they check, for example, for all advertised features (like morphs) to be actually in pack and spinning with some result. But Renderosity doesn't appear to test for -quality- of those features. Once I got a product where morphs looked like they were translated with a help of Morphing Clothes with obviously no manual tune-up from a side of the vendor. Promos was done in such a cleaver way that it wasn't obvious from pictures (promos are always like that).
The result looked awful. I coudn't use the product and I coudn't ask for refund, because, technically, the product had the announced feature. It is just that quality of that feature was bad and QC/QA didn't bother to work with vendor to fix it before the release, because, FWIK, it isn't a purpose of testing on this marketplace.
Comparatively with the quality of testing of DAZ3D it isn't the same level. Sure, DAZ3D has mishaps sometimes, but very rarely on my memory in rate of total items and I can always ask for refund if I don't like the quality. So what with the 50/50% cut for that low level testing and no technical support from Renderosity? Not understandable to me.
Both sites don't test for DS quality either. When I buy things from both sites, I still have to reset speculars and ambients. In Poser, everything looks great and shine naturally, and come out nice and colorful. In DS, they come out looking "BLAH". I mean, come on, specular set on black, 100% strength and at 97% glossiness while ambient set at black at 100% and no bump effects whatsoever?? Those are called DS mats??? Put lights on those things and you'll see a tiny barely lit spark on their skins/clothes. Stupid, stupid stupid.
Renderosity, to my understanding, don't EVEN touch DS testing and I get a lot of missing/mis located files from DS mats (which I contact the vendors to let them know since Rendo won't do anything about it).
Us DS users are screwed and STILL stuck with resetting mat settings whether we buy anything at non-DS stores or the main DS store. It totally sucks as a DS only user.
This is why I've been offering so many vendors to do DS mats for them. My stuff look real and render nicely under good lights. And when I do them, I put them under many lights and test them and make sure they load fine.

Quote - > Quote - > Quote - Hey, guys, I know this is a subject of concern for you all, but we in the Poser forum can't do anything about it for you...but, I can, and plan to, move this thread to the Customer Service forum, where store staff can listen to your questions/problems/concerns about it.
Jeni
translation:
we want to sweep this under the rug, so we are going to move it to a forum that hardly anyone visits so we can ignore it until it goes away. No, and you know me better than that, Gabe. I'm not a vendor anymore, so the best I can do is email the store staff (which I already did), and move this thread somewhere where they basically have to pay attention to it. They don't go to the Poser forum. They DO come here.
But, you know, thanks for reading into my post something that wasn't there. That's always awesome for my first day back on the job ;)
I was kinda wondering about that, but then I thought maybe it was to get Rendo's attention on this (since more than likely they don't visit the forums). I'm glad you confirmed, Jeni, I do hope this get's Rendo's attention.
As most can see by now, the 50% cut is unfair, and I really hope Rendo does something about that. I'm not gonna be happy till it's AT LEAST 70/30 in the vendors favor.
This will do good on both sides. First of all, some vendors will provide lower prices. This will make more customers happy and more sales as a result, second, this will make more customers happy since most of the money's going to the creators instead. Rendo will still make their bucks, at the same time, vendors will feel better about their share.
I absolutely don't support sites getting rich over screwing over their vendors. It's poor business practice. That goes as well with Daz, but at least they do take the tab on customer service/returns. (there's things I don't like there though, but that's another story).

Hmm... reading all of this, you gotta think about what's fair to Renderosity....
BUT............ a bit BUT....
All these big stores charge way too much to load contents in their stores. 50%???? I mean, come on!! I thought this first from the beginning when I found out how much you'll be getting from YOUR products, "GAH, 50% is an awful deep cut, it should be at the most 25%. We're doing all the creating, not them. And we're doing all the customer support, not them!".
To this day I still think that. It's totally unfair! But then submit them to a little store (which charge between 25 & 40%) and they don't sell much 'cause the little stores don't get hit much. Make your own website and it isn't gonna get hit much either by customers. So you really don't have much of choice. Sell at big stores and sell many, but be prepared to get paid only 50% of your price. That's really pretty much the reason I haven't been loading anymore products. I don't get the pay I deserve.
And yes, a forced sales isn't what I support either, we as a vendor should have a choice to put our stuff on sale or not. If they want to put stuff on sale, then they should get the cut, not us, we're already getting a big cut.

Nice render, with that pose Ian's or Cage's shorts would've preserved her modesty!
CHEERS!
OMG, you said my DAZ STUDIO render actually looks good? lol.
Yea, this render was done before any shorts were done, I didn't even know about them till last night. Thanks Rogerbee!

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity
LOL... I was just browsing this forum (yea, I finally had a little time to do things for myself rather then for others)... and spotted your problem quote, then was about to respond and thought I should read further to see if they found the problem.
Yes, I did save my scene in DS2 and reopened it in DS3. Not even knowing she had this problem in DS3 (didn't find out till just now).
Still reading further to see any updates. I'm still on page 187, mind you :) Just wanted to confirm this one ;)
BTW here's a render I never did get a chance to upload... done in DS3, worked on lights for about 2 hours to get it perfect hehe.

Thanks guys, I only have P6, and saving as pz2 rather then mc6 is what I'm looking for instead of having to go back and edit in text editors and renaming them. But I'll look into the other options listed (had no idea it was at Daz3D and I'm there all the time hehe)

Thread: Shader Spider | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hmm... why didn't I think of this... when I did my character in Poser 6 (her pose files), I had to save them as mc6 then edit them & change the file names. Does Shader Spider save them as pz2 for you? And where do I get it?

Thread: Shader Spider | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I honestly don't know if there's anything that makes DS shaders correctly (and seriously doubt it). Heck, I don't know any programs that makes Poser materials correctly. I don't mean to open a can of worms at all lol, I'm just saying it's not wise to use Shader Spider as a DS shader maker. They make clothes and characters very odd & shiny looking Since the content creator used them, I doubt they even know how to open DS, so therefore, they won't know how to look at their products in DS correctly. You have to load some decent lightsets to see what they actually look like in a render. If you don't load any lights, it takes all shine away, but when you do load them, be prepared to wear some sunglasses lol. I've even commented that they look like Christmas tree lights before LOL.
I think the best choice is to have an experienced DS user do the DS shaders. There are plenty around that are willing to do that for you, I do them already for a few vendors and they're very happy with the results (showing them the matching renders against DS & Poser with a matching lightset).
I didn't know Poser, and wasn't about to go blindfolded making Poser nodes for Tindra Thompson, so I asked around for an experienced Poser user, which gypsyangel answered. She did a wonderful job too!!

@jamminwolf: Any help with settings for DAZ Studio is more than welcome. Although I own DS, even DS3 advanced, I am pretty clueless on how to achieve an effect like the VSS or even the more simplistic classic materaial system with DS.*
As for the simple DS, I can do just well, but I haven't even touched DS3 special shader or the new math thing, it's very very difficult (even more so then Poser) and many have complained about how difficult it is at Daz3D forums.
In doing DS shaders for other vendors as well (characters, hair, clothes), I'm beginning to think that I need to learn this special DS3 shaders, so that I can match all the math stuff added in Poser or I would be unqualified up to date lol. But, the reason I stuck with DS2 was that there are still a lot of users who can't run DS3, and I do it just to be fair.
For now, I'll start with her for DS2 and will try to do the best job ever :) She might not match exactly, 'cause you have a lot of math going on in the Poser nodes, but I do guarantee she'll look good in DS2 (and higher) :)

Thank you for the responses - I had assumed that there would be no problems if I produced refits for Antonia, but I prefer to be polite and ask anyway to be sure. And thanks for the heads-up about possible joint changes for the toes. I'll keep that in mind when I begin fitting - although chances are that this might be resolved before I have time to work on Antonia's fitting.
Cheers :o)
ooooooooooooooooooo I can't wait for your shoes refit for her!! Your shoes have always been my favorite and I'd love to be able to use them on this gal :) Thanks headkase!!

Here's DS3 render. BTW the Poser lights worked swell in DS3 :)
When I finish doing the DS shaders for this dress set, I'm gonna work on this babe, that is, if no one has done any DS shaders yet...

YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!! OMG the bendings, the scalings, HOW AWESOME!!!
I popped her up in Poser, loaded SaintFox's textures and lights, loaded a hair on her (some minor adjustments, no problem), and rendered. MOST BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!
Loaded her in DS3, loaded the textures/lights & hair, did a quick shader (the shaders already look good, just not so realistic) and rendered. WOW! I'm so in love with this one!!
My fear just might come true, that is, V4 being dropped to obsolete from everyone running after Antonia. I'll tell you what, I was HARD CORE V4 lover, but after seeing this girl, my head snapped LOL!!
Remarkable you guys, thanks so much!
First render is from Poser....
