Hiya! Welcome to one of the best Carrara forums on the net. Kixum is the moderator and he knows his stuff! try out his Light Saber tut it is a lot of fun! This forum rocks, especially for inexperienced people like me. From what I understand, Carrara 2 is release ready and has been sent to be stamped. The boxes and things are finished and Eovia has stated that they will begin shipping it, to the people that order it from the website, on June 5th. I ordered it the day it was announced as did most pople on this forum, so I hope to see it in time for the weekend! Welcome onboard! Regards, -Paul

Carrara 1 Bible Carrara 1 for Dummies Both by Doug Sahlin I have them both and started with the Dummies book for a good nuts and bolts descriptions. I would start with the Manual included with Eovia's or MetaCreations Carrara. However the Tutorial Manual in MC's version is ripe with errors making it next to impossible to complete. There is an updated PDF version, but I don't know if you can still get it... -Paul

One thing to consider too, Eovia has announced that Carrara 2 will be released in June. So in less then two months we will have our hands on C2. If I were in your shoes I would consider that. I would also find out from Eovia that if you do by C1.1 now, will they give you a free upgrade to 2. Many companies that announce new versions do this. That being said, I have not had ggod success running C under OSX classic, but many in this group have. C2 will be fully optimized and run native in OSX supporting Multi-processing. Cheers PAG

I have not had good scuccess running Carrara under Classic mode in OSX. I get very strange graphics glitches that make it unusable. It is not a big deal though as it takes a mear 20 seconds to reboot into 9. I alos find that Classic apps run much, much slower on my system then they do in Native os9. I am using a Dual 450 G4 with 1GB RAM. I think part of the problem is my stock ATI RAGE128 PRO AGP card. I will be putting in a new ATI Radeon 8500 with 64MB ram when I get the moolah together. -PAG
