What Melanie meant was, after you've successfully added the morph target to the figure, save the figure back to the library, and the new morph will be saved with it. If you skip that step, you'll need to re-add the morph target to the figure each time you want to have it available. By the way, I mentioned opening the P4 fem, but upon re-reading, I note that the morph file you downloaded is named "victoriabreastMT"...so it may only be useful on the Victoria figure.
Thread: HOW TO? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Acury, I'd suggest putting the Morph OBJ files into their own directory under Poser. You can put them anywhere, but keeping them together makes it easier to find morphs when you want one. Then in Poser, set up your P4 fem, make sure the Chest is selected, then go to Object - Properties. There should be a button saying "Add Morph Target." Click the button, then you'll see where to navigate to the particular morph OBJ you want, and the path will go on that line. On the lower line where it says something like "shape1", you can change that to name the morph whatever is easiest to remember. Then click OK, and you'll see the new morph option show up on the dials. Hope this makes sense okay! :) Varian -- http://www.varian.net/dreamview/
Thread: Water ripples/rain drops | Forum: Vue
Hi Hdrider, When rain drops fall and strike something, they splatter. So what you need is to create the splatter/splash effect. One way would be to use a terrain drawing...another way would be to use modified water-like materials on a Carex plant (because it has the perfect shape for a splash/splatter). I've got a tutorial on both ways at my website: http://www.varian.net/dreamview/dreamtools/vue Follow the link to Vue Explorations, then to creating splashing water. There are, of course, other methods too. Guitta did a rather nice image earlier this year showing rain splashing onto a wet sidewalk...I'm not sure what method she used, but the results looked great! :) Varian

Kewl, Bloodsong! Glad you discovered the "trick" behind it, and thanks for reporting your findings! All I know is that you can create some very neat things using an image to create the terrain itself and then also apply the image as the texture to that terrain. :)

Goodness...I must have forgotten not everyone knows everyone else out here. Shame on me! Mike Morris and Katherine Auton are the artistic team I was referring to, and you can see their (amazing -- honest!) fractal/Vue d'Esprit work at their website here: http://www.morris60.freeserve.co.uk/website I don't think the technique is published on their site, but Mike explained the details for the Vue d'Esprit e-mail list about two months ago, so you could do a search for it at the E-groups.com/vuedeesprit message archives and probably locate it easily enough. (Search on "fractal" because that term doesn't come up very often, so it should lead you right to it.) (For those who don't know about the e-mail list, head on over to: http://www.egroups.com/group/vuedeesprit/ for more info and/or to join up!) I have no idea why a scale of 3 is needed for this. Logic would suggest a 1:1, but as you've discovered, that just doesn't do it. Mike and Katherine had to do a lot of experimenting before they discovered 3, and it sure does the job. :) Okay, now I've made amends for my earlier lax! :) Have fun!

Hi Bloodsong, Try setting the scale of the texture to 3. This is what I do when I use a fractal image following Mike and Katherine's technique, and for some reason, 3 seems to be the magic number. It applies the image to the terrain just once, corner to corner. :) Varian -- Treasures d'Esprit http://www.varian.net/dreamview/dreamtools/vue/
Thread: Forests and Waterfalls | Forum: Vue
Hi Dave, Open the material in the Material Editor. Select the Transparency tab. Set the Global Transparency slider to 100%. Under "Effects", check Variable Transparency. When you do this, the Transparency Function area will appear. That should help you finish your forest. :) On the Vue d'Esprit e-groups list, a very talented person just recently described how he created an animated waterfall. You can find the archives at: http://www.egroups.com/group/vuedesprit/ Or heck, just join the list! :) Varian -- Treasures d'Esprit http://www.varian.net/dreamview/dreamtools/vue/index.html
Thread: Since no one is officially doing it... | Forum: Vue
Yes! The Renderosity logo is what I get, too! Makes the new store area completely worthless, but at least I can view the Fun Stuff images...since they are linked to other websites. P.S. back on topic: I second Bloodsong's vote above! Maybe not "build a PlantStudio into Vue," but some options to set trunk width (small, medium, large) or height, keeping everything proportional (rather than stretching it all out of shape) would be nice. Or perhaps a setting for more or fewer branches...anything to help add a greater variety. Having said that, I must also add that the SolidGrowth tech does add a lot of variety to things, so when you buy a $10 tree, you're really getting a multitude of trees, not just a single, repetitious model. Still, some of the species (like Plum) could stand to have a wider variance in the growth. :) Varian

Thanks,Bill! And no,still can't view any images that go through the Renderosity code. (Not javascript, but maybe Java?) That includes the galleries and any image embedded in the message boards. I can still read text, though! :) Varian
Thread: Since no one is officially doing it... | Forum: Vue
_Weeping willow, definitely. The model is nice, but I'd like to see a SolidGrowth version! _Conifers! Larch, cedar, spruce -- any new pine/evergreen! _Birch! Can currently "make do", but a native would be wonderful! :) Varian -- Treasures d'Esprit http://www.varian.net/dreamview/dreamtools/vue/index.html
Thread: I got the Blues, with those Annoying Blues | Forum: Vue
Hi Bloodsong, Apparently, the magic number is 6, as in you need to maintain six or less layers of transparencies to avoid the Blues. In practice, it's not always easy to determine when there are six layers; in some cases I believe Vue traces both sides of a planar item, so you might reach 6 long before having 6 objects. One way to get around the problem is to alter the transparency fade-out colors to better suit your environment. Then set the fade-out number to absolute Zero, and double-check that Transparency itself is set to 100%. It's not a precise science, but these tips should help. Good luck! :) Varian -- Treasures d'Esprit http://www.varian.net/dreamview/dreamtools/vue/
Thread: does anybody know how to get a higher dpi on the pics | Forum: Vue
Hi Hardwick, DPI refers to "dots per inch" which is only applicable on the printing end of things. On the screen, resolution is measured by pixels. To make a long story short, to be able to print with a higher DPI, you need to render with more pixels...in other words, render LARGE. In the case of a poster, render ENORMOUS! You may need to experiment with a minimal rendering to determine the best size, but think in terms of 4-digits for the pixels, for instance, start experimenting somewhere around 1500 or 1600 pixels in width. Check your printer manual for additional info that may apply for your particular printer. :) Varian -- Treasures d'Esprit http://www.varian.net/dreamview/dreamtools/vue/

Thread: Dome style texture | Forum: Vue
Those auto, faces, flat, etc. options are available only when using an image map. Incidentally, check out the texture for the frog model that comes with Vue. It's a pretty cool example of a totally procedural material being used in a manner that one would more typically expect an image map. :) Varian
