I think your picture is pretty cool, and I like your idea for replacing the cubicle nametag. Sorry, no flame. I'll try harder next time.
Thread: Cring walk | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Rats. I though he did stand on the ground, as did the female. I'll take a look and try to make a patch tonight. I hope people won't hate me too much for having to download all these patches; I know it's a pain. Thanks for letting me know, Doozy. I look forward to checking out the walk when I get home from work. --Terri

Thread: Newbies question about face texture | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm not sure if I understand what your asking, but let me see if I can help you out. Textures (texture maps) are used to control color, shininess, transparency and bumpiness (the bumps are optical illusions, not actual bumps in the 3D model mesh). Morphs, unlike textures, change the actual 3D shape of the of the model mesh. Maybe thinking of it this way will help: Models (and their morphs), are like the shape of a sculpture. Textures are the material the sculpture is made out of. Does that help?
Thread: How did you come to 3D ? | Forum: Carrara
I think I came to 3D via POV-Ray, which I still like, although I haven't messed with it lately. I've always like cartoons and computer animation, and when I came across POV-Ray while BBSing (I think it was still on version 2 then), and had to give it a shot. Mostly it's a hobby for me, although I did get a chance to do a 3D screen saver for my old job, in POV-Ray. Since then I encountered Poser, I found it at a deal. But then I wanted to be able to make my own characters, so I started looking for a modeller. I picked Carrara because it was not expensive, and I thought it was part of the Metacreations Suite. Of course, I bought just at the time that Metacreations was selling off all its 3D stuff. I didn't surf Renderosity in those days, big mistake. I don't know if I would pick Carrara if I had it to do all over again. I think I would have leaned more toward Inspire3D, with an eye toward migrating to Lightwave. That said, I'm still pretty happy with Carrara. I got it for a deal, too (I have trouble paying full retail for stuff, you see). It meets my current needs, as my big interest these days is creating characters for Poser. After only doing one, I'm totally hooked. One thing I can't remember is how I came across Renderosity. Maybe someone posted the link to comp.graphics.3D (or whatever group it was I read in those days), but I'm really glad I found this place!
Thread: UV Mapper | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Could the library cr2 file still be pointing at the old obj file (from before you uv mapped it)?
Thread: Carrara Newbie needs help!! | Forum: Carrara
Akyun, I confess that sometimes I have trouble predicting which way an extrude is going to go. Sometimes using a negative number works (if extruding 1 unit causes the face to go the wrong way, I'll try -1 unit). I'm confident that one of the more advanced users here will chime in with better advice. --Terri
Thread: Cring bug? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've fixed and re-uploaded the patch (and corrected the original file as well). Sorry about that, everybody. Let me know if you guys find any other bugs. --Terri

Well, rats. Probably need to tweak the joint parameters, to make sure they match the right foot. Sorry about that. I'll try and get a fix for it tonight. Thanks for letting me know.
Thread: Cring bug? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Eeek. Sorry, I hadn't considered the differences of other version of Poser. My bad. Maybe if your fix works, we could post your corrected PZ3 files to Freestuff as well. I could always host it, if you're interested. Just a thought. I just don't want anyone to have to download that ~1MB obj file twice.
Thread: How do I create my own poser props/characters ??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

You can make models for Poser in any program that will export to obj. 3ds will also work, that will require some extra steps. If you want to try a bit of freeware that will output obj files, try the above link. Actually, over on the character creators forum, I'm trying to design some challenges that will be geared toward the beginner who wants to make props and characters for Poser. If you want a preview, I've written a quick and dirty morph target challenge/tutorial that takes you through the steps of exporting a cube object from Poser and making a morph target for it, using Anim8or. Thread: Cring bug? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OK, I have corrected the bad Cring.zip file, so anyone who downloads Cring after today should not have weird problems with the left foot. I have also uploaded a patch over in free stuff containing just the corrected cr2 files. Just copy these files over the old ones in the Cring character Library, and you should be all set. Thanks again doozy for catching this one.
Thread: Cring bug? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No, I don't mind. I want to know about stuff like this. It does look like I've messed up the joint parameters. The joint order for the Left Foot should definitely be yzx. Changing the order in the Joint Editor fixes the problem. Good catch, doozy. I will repair the file and reupload tonight when I get home from work. I'll also create a patch containing just the corrected cr2 files so people don't have to download the whole thing. Thanks for the catch, doozy, and thanks for letting me know. Don't hestitate to post here if you find something else. --Terri
