Hi Eric- You can change the background color, but you can't import backgrounds or use alpha in Apo. You would have to do that in another program like UF or Chaos Pro.

"Singin' the fractal blues..."

Hey all-
Thanks for all your thoughts on this matter. I do appreciate everyone expressing their views.

I realize that the majority here, uses post-work to various extents. The last thing I want to do is exclude anyone. I am still fairly new to fractal art, but I am not a 'purist'. If an image appeals to me, it's not based on 'purity'.As stated previously, I knew that I would be making changes to the guidelines. This is a community, and I am happy to be able to work with everyone here to make it an enjoyable place to visit, learn, and grow.

Also, Mindy is correct. I felt that changing the rules in the middle of the challenge would be unfair to those who have already submitted their entries.

While we're at it, if anyone has any other suggestions for challenge guidelines, I'm all ears.

Undisclosed- Don't say 2D, we need you here :)

Hello to all- I do want everyone to be involved in this community. I believe I stated that when I first started. This is only my second contest, and I know that there is always room for improvement. I have to admit that I was helped with getting the contest started, yet I knew that I would be making some future changes. I am always open for suggestions, and I hope that everyone here will be happy to make suggestions. I think the post-processing is a valid point, and one that I overlooked. Please be assured that the next challenge will have some changes. If there are any other concerns, please let me know. I am really an easy-going guy who is only trying to do his best for this community. Thanks for the feedback, Nick

Hey G-Dawg- Check out the Fractal Community main page by way of the above link. There are links to all kinds of fractal info and programs. Many fractal programs are freeware, so there's no reason not to keep trying different programs until you find something that works for you. I am partial to Apophysis for flame fractals, so I highly recommend trying it. If you have a program-specific question, go ahead and post it, you'll find plenty of help here.

It was noted by Tim in the Community Center, that there had been some routing problems contributing to slow performance on the site. Hope no one is experiencing any problems now.

I use Apophysis, with post-work in Gimp. I've played with the flame utility in Gimp, but wish for more control in it (like Apo). Nick
