Oh release getting close !
I wonder if it is possible and not too late to include another "camera" option - one that points to another object other than major collision object. This to allow close observation of cloth/hair items. - Hair is the obvious consideration but very useful in other situations.Say the mane on a running horse. Reason is that with "follow" ACTIVE you are likely to lose view of hair if you zoom in for closer look of simulation. If "follow" NOT active the object animation could take it outside of view.

@VWD this video - not a very good one - is an animation of "Daz Xenia Hair on V4 ' using the same " cart wheel " motion as for the skirt. My first attempts with hair.
I had several problems understanding the workflow from the manual. My first animation had the hair "sliding " off the scalp/. My problem is with selecting the vertices so I have to practice more and learn more about the settings. if the video looks strange it is because I was moving the camera around during simulation -

Any news on the release?
Thread: Just for Carrara Animators | Forum: Carrara
Well its a long time since I posted here - too long I guess. Despite the reservations shown by some ( I assure you there is nothing " suspicious " about our site ) there have been many participating in the forum with some interesting discussion during the past 18 months.
CarraraTors is simply a place for users to focus on Animation.
Right now the 9th "Skill Building Exercise " has been launched that may help improve your skills with MIMIC for Carrara.
A common problem with Carrara Mimic is that it usually results in jerky mouth movements so we are looking to improve this.
Full details can be found on the forum here http://www.bond3d.byethost18.com/index.php?topic=258.0
If you like animation we hope you will signup and participate.
See you there.

Here a test using the da "Artdecer" skirt with a complex animation [ V4 somersault] which I thought was pretty good using VWD default settings - like to see it fully textured.
Actually the model is fully clothed including a loose fitting Artdecer top which raises an interesting question - could this [ in final version] be animated too with the sim?

** @VWD** - Maybe a silly question but - do you have the Carrara Software Development Kit and it's documentation ?
I'm wondering if the answer to your question [ *Do you know if the scripting functions are identical in Daz Studio and in Carrara? ] Looks like the pages dealing the scripts methods are the same?] ** * would be in SDK manuals.
I posted the question in Carrara Forum - If no answer is given then maybe you could ask Daz Technical Staff directly ?
I am featuring your Dynamic Cloth at "CarraraTors" http://bond3d.wix.com/carrarators#!home/mainPage
cheers

@ VWD quote "Let me ask you a question:
Do you know if the scripting functions are identical in Daz Studio and in Carrara? Looks like the pages dealing the scripts methods are the same.
No I have no experience in this area - but I will post the question on Carrara forum and report back here.
Thankyou for answering my other questions - forgive our impatience ! We appreciate your demo is work in progress and you must follow strict development path. I am happy to wait and it will not stop me buying the Poser version when released. Just nice to know it may eventually come as a plug in for Carrara.
I think I will have some comment on the simulator "workflow" in the future but need to use it more first. The most concerning thing for me at the moment is not being able to "clear" the animation in order to run again with different setting/s, without deleting everything and starting the whole process again.
**I think you are already working on this improvement. **
**cheers

@Carrara users : In seeking generation methods for .MDD files, I have found a free script in Python that converts a .PC2 file towards a .MDD file. I think this script will be very helpful to export animations towards CARRARA.
** **
** **Whilst this is very good news - I'm wondering if there is any hope cloth simulator will actually run from inside Carrara or is it intended to create simulation Poser and export animation to Carrara ? - which is great if you like using Poser !!!
**A true plugin to Carrara would be a more attractive purchase to C users. However the export capability will be better than nothing. This Question is really for VWD. **

**thanks for that appreciated!

Question
Is it intended for cloth item and hair item to be simulated at the same time?
My experience is that after importing character [ collision object ] and clothing [ cloth item ] the import of Hair Object button is greyed out and therefore cannot be used.
How do I achieve animation of both clothes and hair as seen in VWD's demo videos ? - I expect I've missed something !

Hi 0oseven,
I just followed the instructions in the manual to get the buttons script working:
You need to have the Python Script window open in Poser.
On a PC press the top button while holding the ALT key. In my case the button label changes from 'Wardrobe Wizard' to '...'
Press this button which now has the three dots and navigate to the buttons script. Click 'Open' and the script will now run from that top button.
After using the VWD program, the button reverts to what it was before (Wardrobe Wizard).
Thank you for the tips - I am not familiar with poser despite owning it for several years and having Poser 10 !! So it took me a while to find out how to open the python menu [ right click on scene ] Now it's a matter of reading the remaining 40 odd pages of the clothes sim manual. Hope to have a video to post soon - and a Carrara version of VWD. Thanks again for your reply.

Having trouble running the VWDbuttons.py script which I have tried in a couple of install locations - currently in the Poser runtime Poser install located on C/ program filesX86.
Tried an install to C:/VWD location as well but when I run the "VWbuttons.py" I get a pop up lasting about 1/2 seconds before it closes - too fast to actually see what it is.
I have python 26 and 27 installed in C/
The VWDClothAndHair.exe file runs ok.
Any suggestions please.

This all very exciting and IF eventually it can be used with Carrara it will be FANTASTIC !
If Google doesn't translate the manual accurately into English I'm sure readers can offer suggestions to correct spelling or grammar - even perhaps a better way of describing a feature in English. But I agree the documentation is important to accompany the release.
I could help you Mike ! With the manual ?
But is it possible to export the hair into Carrara ?
Don't now about exporting from Poser to Carrara - Our hope is that VirtualWorldDynamic will make a plugin for Carrara so all work is carried out within the Carrara environment - This promises to answer what Carrara Users especially animators, have for many years, prayed for !!!!

Anyone have luck with Sparroe Hawke's cloth plugin for Carrara - he updated it a few months ago but I've not had to try it.
