Stacey, I read what you said, and I'm not sure if you ever answered my question. Am I allowed to use the same icon (or make a similair one of my own) that Renderosity uses? If not...what is the reason? Is that icon against TOS rules?
I know you said it would look horrible (and image what all those people have to go through, that have their filters on)...but that's not the same as an answer.

Yes Stacey...that's the one. May I use that as my own thumbnail for my nude images? If not, can you explain to me the reason why I can't?

I tried to wade through this entire mess...but I am still curious about something.
Am I allowed to use Renderosity's default nudity thumbnail, for my own work? Or is that against some TOS rule as well? And if I'm not allowed to use it...can someone please explain to me exactly why I can't.
Thanks

Yeah…I was kinna under the impression that’s “EXACTLY” what you were saying.
I took it as an attack on anyone that has ever used tits and ass for a thumbnail…not just me. I don’t get charged for viewing images, nor do I have a limit to how many I can view in a day. So to say people aren’t viewing your images, because they wasted all their views on the tittie gallery seems rather absurd. Your thumbnail is what prompts people to view your images. I just strongly disagree with your opinion that any image is stealing views from anyone else. There are plenty of views to go around.
I haven’t viewed your gallery, nor will I at this point, simply because I don’t want to be tempted to make any attacks on your work. With that said…if you feel you’re not getting the views you deserve, maybe you should rethink your own thumbnails. I just recently moved, and have been force to use dial-up for the time being…so if I don’t know you, your thumbnail is the only thing I have to go by, to decide if I want to take the time for that page to load, to view the image.
I’m rather shocked at how free some people are, with using words like “titties” “vagina” and mostly “cock”, yet are the very ones that are offended by those images. That just seems a tad hypocritical to me. Maybe it’s time we clean up the forums as well.

Erm...I'm just a blonde here, but I thought maybe Stacey was referring to the comments between me and JenX. And I assure you...it wasn't you that I felt was putting words in my mouth.
I'm not sure when quoting a peson became a personal attack...and I do believe I apologized if my thumbnails were stealing views from anyone.
But if you feel I owe you another apology, for trying to understand what you were saying...and you seemed to have agreed with my understanding...then yeah sure...I'm sorry.
And I'm sure you are equally as sorry, for implying people aren't viewing your images, simply because I have a couple of well rounded tits on my latest thumbnail. Or that people only view my images, because of those tits.

Stacey, I apologize for my part in the personal attacks…but to be quite honest, I’m tired of people putting words in my mouth.
I never once tried to change the new policy…I simply gave my opinion of it (and I was under the impression that I’m still allowed an opinion here, unless I missed that memo). I feel my thumbnail should represent my image…even if there is more to the image than tits and ass. I don’t do artistic nudes, I do gratuitous nudes. It’s eye candy, nothing more, nothing less. I’m not Michelangelo here…and I would never pretend to be. There is nothing “artistic” about Victoria 3 with her ass in the air…at least not when I render.
The fact that people imply that I feel the whole site should bow down to my wants, because they refuse to use the nudity filter, sounds more like the site just bowed down to them.
But I guess that point has become irrelevant, since the nudity filter is now obsolete.

Golly gee JenX…and here I thought it was your wants you were so worried about. Should I be concerned with them too? Or can I worry about me today?
Not once did I ask anyone to change their policies…but that doesn’t mean I have to like them. The greatest thing about being me is…I’m allowed my own opinion. I never implied that you are a bad parent (but hell, if the shoe fits). I simply said we are responsible for ourselves. If my son is watching South Park…it sure as hell isn’t Comedy Central’s problem…it’s mine (of course, my son is twenty years old now, and can watch what he wants).
I do own my own website, and I post whatever I want there. I haven’t whined about any “rights” I feel have been trampled. Did you bother to read a word I said…or is your head too far up your ass to comprehend what I thought was clearly my opinion?
Posting here may be a privilege, but then again, spending my money here would be my prerogative, now wouldn’t it?
I’m so very happy that you have Renderosity babysitting your child for you. But with a mother that says “titties, vagina or cock”…my tit thumbnail is really the least of his troubles.
Have a nice day,
BarbieDahl

You might want to ask some of the men that view my gallery about faces, necks and shoulders. Bless their hearts.

Stacey...I can only guess that you've never browsed my gallery. The artistic merit of most of my images is T & A...I could make a living off the gratuitous nakedness that runs rampant in my gallery (well, except for the fact that no one would buy that stuff).
It just seems like a flimsy excuse to say you don't want nude thumbnails in the newsletter. You said it yourself, you will ask permission from the artist, before featuring one of their images. How hard would it be to place a disclaimer, notifying people that any nude thumbnails will have to be changed before it qualifies?
You already have a filter available for people not wishing to see nudity...how much more hand holding do you need to do?
I live in a house with small children, that come in and out of my room all day...it's not difficult for me not to browse the gallery when they are near. I take responsibility for that...I don't whine to the staff to do that for me. I never felt it was their job.

Quote - So, by all means, create your nudes. There are those of us who love a well-done nude. Just don't shove titties, vagina, or cock in our faces as we go through the galleries to find something that doesn't need sensationalism to be brought to our attention.
If my picture represents “titties, vagina, or cock”, as JenX so eloquently put it…what should my thumbnail be? Butterflies and cotton candy? Imagine your surprise when you go to view that image.
If you don’t want nudity shoved in your face…turn your nudity filter on. That’s the big sign that says… “Warning, this image contains titties, vagina or cock, if that offends you, move along, there is nothing to see here.” This isn’t brain surgery…if you don’t want to see nudity…no one is forcing you to.
I can’t even begin to fathom why the Renderosity team would want to feature images in the newsletter, with “titties, vagina or cock” in them, as long as the thumbnail is of Victoria’s ears.
And I’m really thrilled that Khai will finally be getting all those hits he deserves, now that my tits and ass wont be stealing his thunder. See ya in the art charts hun.

Quote - I welcome the change. no more having to fight for picture hits with the latest set of tits, ass or worse.
I feel I should apologize if my "tits" and "ass" thumbnails are stealing the glory from other artist. But by your own words it sounds like you are saying people prefer to look at tits and ass images...but then, I can't image how so many people would be offended by these images, if that were so.
I thought the nudity and violence filters are here for people that would rather not view those images. And while I can understand the logic of this new policy, I can honestly say...if my tits and ass aren't welcome in the newsletter, it's not somewhere I would ever want to be...but that's just me.

CrazyDawg, the image looks great. I'm happy it worked for you.
As for the size of the shadow, like MorriganShadow said, play around with the light casting the shadow. Try moving it closer or back, to the left and to the right.
For the picture that you poseted above, I believe moving the shadowed light back from the model, would make the shadow smaller. If moving it back makes your scene too dark, you can always add another non-shadowed light to brighten it up again.
I personally like the image...it makes it look like it is later in the day...when the shadows are longer.

Don't give up, adding shadows isn't that hard, and makes a big differnce in some images.
Make sure you have the latest version of DAZ Studio, you can download it free from daz3d.com
Try this and see if it works. Go to your render settings, and set it to 3Delight. Add a wall and V3 close to the wall. Next add some lights, with one in front of V3. Select the light that is in front of V3, then go to the Parameter tab. Lift the light off the floor, and pull in back ( Y and Z translate). Scroll down on the Parameter tab, and you will see an opition for Shadow Type. Try using Raytraced. You can also change the color of the light, the intesity and the angle spread. Make sure you have enough light to see V3 and the wall fairly good. Now you can do a spot render, to see if it works.
Adding the shadows to different lights give different effects. You can play around and make shadows from a chin, on the neck, and so forth. Just keep in mind when adding shadows to a light, that depending on where the light is, is where the shadow will fall. Just make sure you have something for the shadow to fall on. A shadow light behind the person, causes a shadow in front of them, but if the camera is too close, the shadow wont be in your image.
I'm not sure if any of this makes sense, if not, drop me a note, and I'll try to explain better. Good luck with your renders.
