So many people and so many different "valid" ethical points of view. What's wrong with, "If it's legal it's ethical; if it's illegal, it's not ethical." Sure would simplify things a lot.

Good idea Virus. I agree an "accepted" proposal or other form of written agreement is a must. There are times when the profit on a job is small and one has to ponder how much to spend collecting an account. You could (and should) place the following clause in your proposal/agreement. "Terms are: net upon receipt of invoice. Invoices past due are subject to 2% monthly interest and service charge. Invoices past due 30 days are subject to collection and customer agrees to pay costs of collection including reasonable attorneys fees."

There seem to be a few who have constant problems with P5 and are quite verbal about it. However, there are many of us for who have no problems with either the program or the patch (the silent majority, if you will). I'd say get it, you'll really enjoy it. Now I'll go back to lurking.

Some might remember a certain, former Senator Smute from Utah who, in an election year, sponsored legislation to ban lascivious images. A reaction appeared in a Washington paper that went something like the following.
OK, Sen. Smute from UT
seeks to ban smut of ill-repute
Smite smut fiercely Oh Sen. Smute
Smite for honor and for truth,
for us, for them and people of UT,
for religion, for America,
for mothers, for hysteria.
Smite smut to protect our youth
to stamp out all that is not cuth
Smite smut Sen. Smute,
even when the going's tough
For smut when smitten is front page stuff.

Thread: Anyone have any great scripts laying around? | Forum: Animation
Been there, found out. After surfing a bunch of short story sites on Google I found exactly what I wanted. Licensing problems were overcome, I sketched out a story board and I thought I was off and running. Then I found, as you did, narrative and dialog are different. I decided I really wanted a short screenplay. Somewhere I ran across Dan Decker's site. He teaches screenplay writing. A visit to www.screenwritersgroup.com was be enlightening (I'd recommend his book "Anatomyof a Screenplay" - no commencial connection. The result, I think I saw what I was doing wrong and got back on track. Best of luck. George

WTB - First of all, great texture. Second, I don't think copyright is your problem. If you distribute the image you may be liable for civil damages from one (or more) of the invasion of privacy torts ((1) Intrusion, (2) Appropriation, (3) Private Facts, or (4) False light. E.g. the tort of appropriation is the commercial use of a persn's name, image or likenes withut permission (Restatement 2nd of Torts para 652a-652i) Best advice is consult your attorney before you proceed.

Mwa - If recall my tax law, you might just consider selling an exclusive license to use the work in question (but retain rghts of copyright protection, etc.) An exclusive license is treated as a capital gain (by the IRS) but outright sale is ordinary income (higher tax rate).
