That sounds fantastic. If only it was released today. BUT - for that improvement I think I can wait as long as it takes.
I was just confused as how some people were getting render times of under 10 minutes and mine was taking hours.....long...boring...lonely hours....

carodan: I agree. Only thing is if my settings (or lack thereof) is not right then surely even with the release of SR1 I will still be stuck.
Also - not sure how long till that release so until then I would like to find a work around.
But yes.....a huge improvement indeed. So Thanx!!

The hair looks shocking but for comparisons I will keep it in.
As far as I can tell (!) there are no AO nodes in anything.

cspear: Thank you!!
I changed the settings as you suggested and the precalculating took 32min50s and the render is now at 1hr18min and about 85% done. That is a huge improvement. The only problem so far that I can tell is that the "cloth" is not as transparent as it is in the "normal" render. Is that because of raytrace? I will post results as soon as it is done rendering.
carodan: I did find the other render interface of Dimension3d but to be honest I still don't know the effects that half of those settings will have. :( I have read the entire thread though and will go back from the beginning once I can figure out why it is taking over 14 hrs. It is a bit hard for me to do comparisons if I have to wait that long. :)
vilters: :blushing: Yes it is "in" the floor. Once I get the render settings/time under control I will do alot of fine tuning. Also in the image that is rendering now the hair does not work in the scene but right now that is the least of my concern. ;)
As soon as this one is done rendering I am going to try your settings.
Thank you so much everyone. I will post results.

Forgot to mention the image is just the floor and the wall behind her.

I have set up this scene and if I render with the included settings it takes about 35 mins. (including the hair - which I left out here). As soon as I add IDL it takes 14+ hours just to do the precalculating. (I went to bed after 14 hours and it was about 2/3rds done) When I got back it had rendered about 2 rows and stopped as if the render was done.
Now first of all. Are my settings wrong? I am not sure if it should be taking so long and if there is a way to make it faster.
I would appreciate any help/suggestions re this but please be patient as I lost when it comes to half the stuff you guys talk about. ;)
My system info is:
Intel Cuad CPU Q660 @2.4GHz
4GB RAM
Windows 7 64bit
Thank you in advance.

Sorry correction.
It was probably over at DAZ that I found it and it is not for the MyShirt but for MyVest.
Hope that helps

There has been a hooters outfit in freestuff. I think it was quite a while ago but it was textures for the V4 boyshorts and Aery Souls MyShirt. If I remember correctly.

Yes, Rsity didnt handle this as well as they could have: if they were going to require a five dollar purchase, they should have thought of that in the beginning.
Now, having said that...
Folks, we're talking about a five dollar purchase for something else, then all the freebies you can eat. Let me underscore that: five bucks. We come to this site everyday -- for free. We go stomping through the freebie sections looking for downloads -- for free. If this site is like any other business out there right now, it's probably hurting financially; I dont know anyone who isnt, frankly.
I never saw the newsletter that made these all free, so I didnt miss anything in that regard. And I dont mind shelling out a lousy five dollars on something I'd probably buy anyway -- the Halloween freebies just closed the deal.
So bottom line: yeah, they could have handled this better. But after hanging around this place for as long as I have, maybe I'm just used to it now, and it's no longer a big deal.
Yes, it would be nice if someone came along and explained what they were doing, but to what end: so we can beat them up a bit more? Rosity always opens mouth and inserts foot around October/November -- they have for years, and they probably will for years to come. If nothing else, the entertainment value is worth far more than five bucks.
Just my 0.02.
I hear you, although for someone who wasn't going to spend any money right now?? Besides it might be "five bucks" to you but some of us have exchange rates to consider as well. I agree though that they didn't go about it right. Originally it was free. Not cool.
