This is what it actually looks like... I didn't get an OOM error, but I noticed a lag so I checked... 45gb+ and I wasn't doing much of anything. If I hadn't killed that node it would have eaten up all 64gb pretty quickly. Clicked end task on that node and returned to work with no issue.... Strange days indeed.

Thread: Future Developments | Forum: Poser 12
I'm not worried at all... I've been using Poser since Poser 2, We've come a long way baby. While some may not see and appreciate the recent developments of the past couple of years, those of us who use Poser as a daily driver pick up on the subtle nuance of new releases. A lot of that is simply taking what's already there and refining it to make it work better, faster and more reliably... Sometimes hardly noticeable other times its WHOA!!! where did that come from? If you're doing animation involving dynamics, you know exactly what I mean... Where in the not-so-distant past it was test and tune.. do and redo... scrap that idea and try something else... Now it just works. I don't know how or why... It just does...I think a lot of that comes from a team of people who are for-real hands-on experienced professionals who actually play the game, other than those who pinch pennies and focus more on rounding corners to maximize profit margins..... I'll just leave it at that...

Thread: Poser Out of Memory Issue | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
I've been tracking this problem for quite a while. Not a solution but a possible work-around is when you get the out-of-memory error, before clicking the OK button releasing the warning, open task manager, expand the Poser entry there and right click/end task the offending CCF node, the one that shows excessive memory usage.(no problem indicated here even though it says poser not responding/ it always says Poser not responding on my system...) .. You can then proceed as if nothing happened, ending that CCF node seems to have no effect on current work in progress(at least in my experience)... good luck

Thread: Queue Manager Problem Sloved? | Forum: Poser 12
Superfly, no alterations to mat's just double click to apply from P12 library. I thought I had mentioned it in feature requests, but I guess I hadn't. I know there was a thread here about the problem a couple months back.
I'll copy and paste this to feature request forum. Unless there's a better place to do so.

Thread: AMD Graphic cards supported by Poser 12! | Forum: Poser 12
If all you do is 'play' just about any video card will do. If however your main focus is getting work done (at least in the current environment) you are going to need cuda cores, AMD cards have none.
My advice (for now) is to get an NVIDIA card.

Thread: Queue Manager running multiple jobs simultaneously | Forum: Poser 12
I cant get Queue manager to run at all, same old .bom error on every submission, even on scenes that ran fine previously...

As I mentioned before I animate...
After 40 years of punching clocks and walking someone else' chalk, I'm retired now and it affords me the opportunity to finally do whatever whimsical thing I want to do, without over-site or directorial/dictatorial pressure. Whenever i was tasked to do a few short 3-10 second animations(150 frames@15fps) I'd be given a 2-3 week time period to get the jobs done, then came the re-do's , the changes the director wanted made, so on average about a month was involved in the process. Then it was off to other team members for polishing, dynamics, materials&render. It was a tough row to hoe, but hey, its a living.
Most of my experience is with Animation Master/ Max or Maya with final renders done with in Iray/Vray... I've used other software but those were the mainstay. Whatever the contractors flavor of the day was. At first I struggled to present content that was up to muster, so many variables, not only with figure animation but there were often interactions between multiple figures and props.... Then in the mid 90's i started 'cheating'... I discovered that i could recreate the basics of the scene I was working on in Poser, do the basic animation/export .bvh- -finish n other software in less than half the time... I enjoyed many hours with family and friends when otherwise I'd have my nose to the grindstone trying to eek out a living....Unbeknownst to my employers.... Shhhhh don't tell nobody... Poser was/still is looked down upon by the industry as sub-par and I'd have probably been shunned/fired for using it....
Fast/forward to more recently....
I often sit down at my workstation without the foggiest idea what I'm going to create, assemble a scene on the fly and let the animation 'evolve' from there...Pure 'imaginering' in its simplest form, I just let-er rip without limitation. I create thousands of animated and rendered frames in just a few days(@30fps), animate during the day and render at night while I sleep. I seldom polish my animations to final product these days before posting(WIP), but for free they're not half bad. I enjoy every moment of my 'work' and live life to the fullest (devil may care, I don't). I post over at 'Rotica these days (Yeah its porn...ick....sue me) I get favorable reviews for the most part,,, great community over there...
Poser allows me do that....

The Bondware team has made a lot of improvements that only animators such as myself would notice, and I for one greatly appreciate it. You can now re-time an entire scene in one action for one. Poser12 is more stable then ever before, the frustration of crash on save is practically non-existent...Thank goodness... Where in the past I would divide my scene into short clips I now confidently animate and render thousands of frames in a single sequence. Not to mention that animations that took weeks to render before now take only a day or two(if that) and at higher quality settings. Y'all can piss and moan all you want, but as a creator who actually gives Poser12 a workout day in/day out 24-7 I have to express my gratitude to the Bondware team for their exceptional efforts. They're taking a neglected turd and polishing it into a glimmering gemstone I'm proud to have in my workflow.
Now if they could address that broken Queue manager(looking for '.bom' files) and out of memory errors in the next update I'd be a really happy camper....LOL

Thread: Create prop | Forum: Poser 12
@davo
Thanks for the clarification.
The reason I came forward to address this is to encourage new users to go ahead and take the 'easy route' when saving props... After all, you don't have to fully understand the fundamentals of electricity to be able to operate an electric tool/appliance. Creativity isn't dependent on understanding what goes on behind the scenes, you can leave that to someone more qualified, if you want... You can do this, don't get discouraged by what you don't understand...

Thread: Need help making a smart prop | Forum: Poser 12
OK try this:
Again zero figure... Enter the Fitting Room/New session.... Select your prop & figure, do nothing else just create a new figure. In the dialogues select nothing NO regroup No morphs.... Just an empty figure ..... Now back in the Pose Tab rename New Figure to Bellybutton ring(whatever) select that figure's abdomen...Menu/Object/ replace body part with prop/ Select the original bellybutton ring and hit enter... test by conforming to figure and if satisfactory delete the new prop(if its still there), save figure to library...
Sorry for double post too late to edit I guess...

I mean like really, is all this jumping through hoops necessary at all? I've been saving props to library for 25+ years never had a single problem.... Add prop to library_click on preview image to reload... It always works....Am i doing it wrong or are the propeller heads Rube Goldberging something simple?...LOL

Thread: Need help making a smart prop | Forum: Poser 12
Try this:
Zero figure. Position object where you want it (parent is universe).... Export to .obj , re-import object (don't center or place on floor)parent to abdomen...save as smart prop.
Y'all have a great day.
