Iz, thats really nice; have you thought about checking some Unreal Tournament/Half Life military mods for modeling opportunities? They could use extra modellers, you could get some stuff in your portfolio, and you could strike a blow for Carrara users everywhere! Some places you could try - Strike Force - UT Infiltration - UT Tac-Ops - UT CounterStrike - HL It'd be cool to see you do more military modeling, this came out pretty real, particulary the irregular oily grimy looking black on the grenade Nebula Supernova Studios Wishing that we could use sigs...

Well, thanks for all the help! I guess, though, this all means, that there isn't any arraying at all in Car? Maybe in that Holy Grail of Optimism, version 2... Also, although no theres is no boning (heh...) in Car, I dont think this should be too bad....the only parts that need to move are the fore and upper arms. Also, I checked the two plugs from the DCG, they dont seem to be Car plugs, rather, RDS. Can plugs be imported? I guess I wasn't clear when I said I need RDS stuff; I only need RDS tuts for MT's because they translate well to Car and there isn't a very large amout of Car tuts available... Oh, and to those of you who say I need my head examined...you aren't the first. Try animating in Bryce, and oohhhh people will think you're crazy. Nothing like the 48hr render-time blues...(-: And the project shouldn't be TOO hard...AZChip has taught me much of planetary destruction, and that Penguin Submarine animation taught me a bunch too... Thanks for all your support! And don't expect to hear from me next week...between AP Tests (which was, btw, the Penguin Sub inspiration) and this...heh heh heh. Nebula Supernova Studios

Well, as a penguin, he hunts and eats Poser Angelfish figures. I thought the angry penguin part was funny too, I got it from anime sequences where you see the camera panning around two people who are about to fight (-: I thought the explosions might have been a little excessive though, I had 5 cameras dedicated to the explosion, and it replays 7 times. I had origanly wanted the explosions to play during the downbeats of the chorus, but I wasnt precise in my estimating. O well, that bugger deserved it. The real motivation for this was the AP Comp-Sci Case Study, which involves a Fish class, and our work on it has been modifying the methods and atrributes of the different classes. Well, I just couldnt take it anymore, so I blew the fish away! Ahahah! Glad you enjoyed (-: Next is another planetary obliteration, Mako Cannon style. Nebula Supernova Studios

I found some bugs that werent listed on the faq- Camera 1 Keyframe Limits: Carrara gets confused when Camera 1, your active camera, has more than about 15 keyframes. Once you get past thoat point, you cannot move/rotate/dolly/pan/bank the camera until some keyframes are deleted. Render Failed Part 2: You listed a Render Failed Bug, I noticed it also occurs in some booleans. Sometimes the bool will work, sometimes not. Seems random. Saving Movies: Sometimes, when saving QT movs, Carrara bugs out and crashes. However, the mov file is intact, but any changes in the scene file are lost. Sometimes this crash can be avoided by going to the assemble room, saving, and then tryting to save your movie. But that doesn't always work. *Note-These may or may not be Mac specific. These all occured on my iMac DVSE '99, 256 mb ram. Nebula Supernova Studios

Quicktime Pro is a good cross-platform alternative. It's cheap and easy to use. If you want to add sound, you just drag the selection triangles around the music you want to use, copy it, and then make a similarily sized selection in QTPro, and say 'Add'. You can also copy and paste video clips of different formats into your Quicktime movie. Also, Quicktime MOVs are about the best compression you can get, and you can edit the compression style to suit your needs. You can order the serial number for $20 at www.apple.com and then donwload either QT4 or QT Preview 5, and enter in teh serial number Apple sends you. Its the best way, or so I've found, to add animations and sound together. However, if youre looking for something more complex, like transitions and complex filtering, and youre experienced with digital video editing, Premiere 6 or AfterEffects may be better.
