Above is the post Bagginsbill made with the setup (and attached light material). Make sure to read the stuff that goes with it!

I highly doubt SM has any interest in fixing it either, given the P4 render engine is over a decade old..

pjz, looks very nice. A couple of crits - her shoulders look a bit too muscly, her neck a bit too thin, and her rib cage seems a bit big compared to her hips. Breasts look very nice though. Right amount of firmness and hang. The armpit/muscle area looks pretty darn good as well.

For a top quality render, you need both. Personally, IÂ would put lighting ever so slightly higher. A good lighting setup can make a mediocre texture look good, but a bad lighting setup can make a brilliant texture look awful. But similarly, you can have the best, most realistic lighting in the world, but if the textures you're using are low-res, blurry, or have false shadows and highlights baked into them, they'll drag you're result down.

Are you using Firefly or P4 render engine? What I would suggest to start with is to detach all the nodes, and then add in the colour and trans maps, check that those render OK, and then add in each node back in one by one, checking with a render after each one, until you find the one that's causing the odd colours.

Bear in mind that a lot of the effects you're seeing are due to filters/post-effects (e.g. the light bloom, DOF) and also shaders (normal mapping, specular, etc), so regardless of whether you have the most realistic lighting in the world, it'll still fall flat and be unrealistic if the only attention you give the models in the scene is to stick a diffuse map on them.
Onto the lighting.. one of the best things you can do, as cobaltdream suggested, is devour anything bagginsbill says (he honestly is a Poser god!). His VSS thread has a lot of useful lighting info in there, though 30+ pages is a bit much to read through at a time. His advice on gamma correction is invaluable though, and worth the search. Especially if you don't want your results to turn out looking muddy. The gallery I linked to was rendered in Vray, where it is, frankly, very easy to get good light setups. WAYÂ easier than Poser, but ho-hum. HDRI/IBL would be a good means of getting some "overall" lighting, and then you could have spots/infinites for the special effects, like back/rim lighting, colours, etc...

You can go to his site for his IBL generator and Environment sphere. I haven't used them, but many others have (search for the threads here) and many users have had very good results.

The hair sim happens in the main Poser program, which as others have mentioned is 32-bit and therefore the amount of RAM it can use is capped.

Lemme know how it goes in ZBrush. I bow down in awe to anyone who can use that program and not want to throw themselves out of a top-floor window. =D

I don't really understand ZBrush, but I suppose it's possible to use that.. Most of my experience is in C4D, so I'm not sure exactly how well that translates into trueSpace. I'm guessing trueSpace supports organic modelling and soft selections (i.e., if you select one polygon and move it, it pulls the surrounding ones out with it). That would probably be the easiest way to do it.
Export the tear prop as an obj, and then export the head of your character as an obj. Import both into trueSpace, making sure they're seperate objects. Then simply keep pushing polygons until they line up with the characters eyes. Delete the head, and then re-export the modified tear shape as an obj. Import back into poser and simply re-add it to the library like I mentioned above. I know that workflow would work in C4D, not sure about trueSpace..

Glad you managed to figure it out. :) I wrote that reply after my shift at work, didn't get home until 11pm! Anyway, as far as fitting it to David, you have two options that I can think of - manually refitting it with an external program (e.g. Blender), or using magnets. Magnets might be more versatile if you're planning on using expression morphs.
Unless someone who knows poser better can suggest something else?

That should work. If you want it to be smart propped, just parent it to the characters head and save it, and when prompted, press yes.
Hope that helps. :)
