Talk about synchronicity--I hadn't been to the forum or done much computer art at all for a year or so, then popped in today and found a message from Carrolly--! Hubby will have the car that weekend, but I'll get myself there by hook or by crook. What can I bring??

Haxial will take a one word search subject just like Google, so you could enter 'tabby' or 'cat' and it will instantly cough up everything containing either one...just like our cats do hairballs, but with considerably fewer gross sound effects ;o) Pat

(waves 'hi' to Allie and Carolly)
There is a WONDERFUL disk catalog system called Haxial that I've used for ages now and really love. You can try it for free and then after a while it becomes 'nag-ware' until you fork over the small fee--which, considering all it does and its ease of use, is ridiculously cheap.
Once you get your own naming conventions applied to your downloads, Haxial can give you the exact CD it's on in all of 2 seconds. You just feed each CD to it after you finish burning it and it reads it in maybe 3 seconds and remembers it forever...priceless!
I couldn't do Poser without it, since I have, at the very least, Half-heimers when it comes to remembering where the heck I put stuff!

Thread: DAZ Platinum Club renewal n.b. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'll probably wait until payday (Tuesday, thank the gods!) to re-up my yearly membership, but how am I to pay if I can't use my VISA? I was notified recently that my PayPal account was expiring and I did nothing about it, since I rarely use it....was that a major 'OOPS?' on my part?
Thread: Has anyone bought M3 and not used it yet - like me? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
So I'm not alone, huh?!!! I was determined to wait until I heard from other Mac people that DAZ had gotten a handle on the Macintosh file path name character limit. As soon as I did, I practically flew over to DAZ and gave them all my money ;) Then I got too busy to actually install and play with him, so the poor guy's just languishing in a 'New Purchases' file on my desktop until the Real World lays off me for a bit and I can get back to Posering :D

That's odd....have you mentioned it in the Macintosh Forum? Someone there might have a fix for you.

That's wild! Maybe your computer is haunted.... ;) BTW, many of my problems with Poser4 subsided when I upgraded the OSX that came with my iMac to Jaguar OSX. In fact, I think it was Molly who suggested that I use that version. I had no problems with it overwriting anything (that I could see) and Poser runs so much better :)))
Thread: Renderosity Still SO SLOW | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sometimes the wait seems interminable, other times merely very, very, very slow...sigh. And that's on DSL--I am so impressed with those of you who do this daily on dial-up. Your patience may just herald the next leap in human evolution! waves 'Hi' at jaybutton

I would just love to see a site with Mac/Poser tips :D It would be great, too, if an example could be shown--like a screen of the opened file (in the one above) with the text changes hi-lited--but I realize that's getting into Tutorial Territory and will require more work...I'd be very happy just to have the tips collected in one place!
Thread: M3: When Vertices Go Bad | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That's a very generous offer--maybe you could do it here in the forum under a different thread name so that the other Mac people could learn to do it too :) It won't solve all the problems that BastBlack is having, but every little bit of knowledge helps with an app like Poser ;) I know that a number of folks have experienced the problem and I'll bet a lot of them are not knowledgeable enough about opening up files and changing things to risk screwing up and having to reinstall the product. I'd love to be able to use those MAT poses instead of hand-installing textures :D

In general, I'm a big fan of DAZ, but when it comes to the recent problems with the Mac versions of products, I get very frustrated. My V3Male pak file path name problems required many emails over many weeks before the product was fully useable. They cited an overwhelmed tech support as the cause of the long delay and gave me a nice voucher, but it just did not make sense to me that a corrected version should be so terribly difficult and time-consuming to produce....And my V3HiRes maps still have to be applied by hand due to small differences between the names Poser is searching for and the actual names on the files. And now with M3--surely they learned from V3 about file path name lengths?? I've decided to save myself some stress and not order M3 until just before the sale price ends, in hopes of getting a working Mac version, which is very frustrating for me as I see all the beautiful renders done with M3 on PCs :(
Thread: ~~~~~~ August Poser Forum Challenge... VOTE HERE!!! ~~~~~~ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OMG---first I didn't get my entry done in time and then I mis-remembered the cut-off date for voting :( So I'm gonna vote anyway and at least tell the folks who entered how much I've enjoyed the entries this time--they're wonderful! I got goosebumps a couple of times as I made my way through them and two brought tears to my eyes :O The quality was truly outstanding. It took me several days to narrow my choices down to only 10 (!) and getting it down to 3 was very, very, very difficult, but here they are: Black Rain--3 Nienna Telemnar--2 Carib98--1

Also, are you sure you're not just looking at the face in a display mode other than the one at the far right? (this is in Poser 4, not sure what the equivalent is in Poser 5) This is way basic, but I can't think what else could be causing your textures to fail to apply. Are you doing an actual render after making the changes?

No one loathes the Poser Manual more than I, but the absolute best way to begin with Poser is to go the whole way through the initial walk-through in the manual. Then you will know how to ask questions here much more clearly, using the terminology we're all used to.... And you will then be able to do way more productive searches of this forum, too. Most of the questions you're going to come up with have been answered here many times, but you need to know the correct keywords to search under :)
