Well I have managed to crash 3 times until I got the hang of the instance lab and I have to say for me thats the best thing so far in 7. I made a fleet of ships in about 10 seconds and it worked great. Of course I am good at crashing Bryce. I did have one crash on a save. Tried to re-create it but 2cnd time it worked fine. Probably a hiccup with my new machine. So far I am happy with the beta and if it is any indication of what the final version is going to be like then it will definitely become once again my favorite program. (the scene I crashed saving would have killed itself in 6.1 and 6.3 a dozen times at least:) )
Thread: No new Renderosity FreeStuff? | Forum: Freestuff
Personally to me free is free and worth the wait at times. As for pop-up ads I never get them. There are a lot of free programs for download that looks after that little problem besides the settings most decent browsers come with now.

Actually I will have no problem staying away from it as I think my IP has been banned from the site now. I have a way of making friends and influencing people you know. Let me introduce myself..............................:)

Well the webmaster is an arrogant jerk but I am sure he thinks the same of me:). I wasn't real nice to him and more or less let him know what a crappy webmaster he is. Not as nice as that though. And he definitely thinks he is all that if you know what I mean.
Thread: PzDB 1.1, Does It Work With Poser 8? Is it worth having? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well I am pretty sure I won't bother purchasing PzDB since I am still waiting for a reply from the "free version' Tech support. I won't purchase it because of that reason since if they are trying to get me to buy the program I don't think they are showing real good incentive to do so by this attitude. I am however trying out a few others that offer a free version and one in particular seems to do what it says. Will give it another few days before making up my mind on which one I will buy however just to see if something occurs on the PzDB front:) .
Thread: PzDB 1.1, Does It Work With Poser 8? Is it worth having? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I tried 3 times to use pzDB with the same results following the minimal advice I received from the free version support person. I sent him the information that he asked for after my first request for a solution as perhaps I didn't explain it properly in my first email to them since he asked for more clarification on what was occuring. The first email was replied to in less than a day. The second has now been 3 days and counting. Maybe it got lost??:) Now, I know its a trial version but if I am having a problem and not getting a solution for the free version trial then in my humble and definitely not influential opinion this may not be the time for me to even think about buying the program. I already have enough updates and hotpatches for the programs I am fairly familiar with.

Well I have a problem with this program and have done as suggested with it by the tech advice but it could be my own ignorance. I am not sure what exactly I need to do to allow the entry and I quote "
If the script window does open, and doesn’t error, but PzDB still won’t launch content, then check to make sure “SND2SOCK.EXE” is allowed though your firewall. There’s more about that in the FAQ" . However, since the FAQ doesn't say anything other than to allow it maybe for those of us who are not familiar with this procedure a little more instruction could help?

Thread: "Dawn of the Dark": Do you people even care??? | Forum: Contest Announcements
Actually, after this contest I don't care. I really haven't been part of this community insofar as offering my opinions or advice for some time now as to me it is so huge that the camaradrie that once existed amongst the members seems to be sadly lacking now. And way too many cliques and groups who will always be here(like politicians of opposing parties:) I wish no ill to any here but lets face it, this is a place to buy stuff and occassionally to download free models provided by some of the more altuistic people who so generously share with those of us who are not as talented (or in my case too lazy:) to make thier own. I wish whoever wins my congratulations and will continue to enter contests other places where the judging is not left to the community but to people who actually do thier judging on the merits of the appeal or artistry of the work. Good luck to all who entered this one:)
Thread: Dawn of the Dark: Salon des Refus | Forum: Contest Announcements
This conversation goes on every time with contests using a community vote here at Renderosity. And very rarely in my humble opinion do the best win. The reason is that people do vote for thier friends and I even remember when people some time ago here (un-named of course to protect my wallet:) would trade votes. Cliques and of course near nude pictures will always win out it seems so why bother entering?? I ask myself that question every time I enter a contest in this site and yet every once in a while I do it anyway. Masochism maybe??:) I truly believe that the only way for a contest of this type to be honestly judged is by a panel of chosen judges from start to finish. They then would give thier reasons on why they chose the top winners. Most of the examples in the links in the first post here certainly (and I mean no dis-respect for the artistic qualities of the current top 25) if judged on artistic merit alone should be in the top 25 (again only my humble observation). I am sure some here will say that I am being a poor sport but really every one of the ones in the above list beats the hell out of my entries and I am being truthful about that plus I wish I could do as good a work as some of them (envy:).
Thread: Bengal Tiger by Dedicated Digital | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just out of curiosity I did a render with the firefly engine using the ray trace option. I used the number one "watching" pose. It was a disaster with broken seams and mismatched stripes etc. In the poser render engine this is not apparent unless you really really look hard for it. The render had the tiger with a -90 degree rotation to it and the texture breaks on the hip, the head from the top of skull to the corner of the mouth. there is a bit of a break on the front shoulder to the chest but because of the angle it is ot really as noticable as the other ones. I have also used a few other models from DD but perhaps the problem is that when most of the models and textures were made I remember we were at the time using Poser 3 which wasn't quite as revealing as perhaps Poser 5 is so the faults wqere not noticeable. Don't misunderstand me as since I got the tiger for free I am not complaining. Plus I am pretty good in postwork and can cover up any problems I ever come across. I just know if I had paid for it I would not be real pleased. As a freebie I don't have anycomplaints though:) .

All I know is that it referenced material that was not present in the one I downloaded four days ago. So why yours works well without any problems and I had to change the cr2 is anyones guess. As far as how it works once I modified the cr2 I have no complaints about it. It seems, however, that there are a few people who are not happy with the Cd they paid thier hard earned money for and if they can't contact the person who created and sells the Cd (and I did a very thorough search of his site) to ask about thier concerns one can't blame them for venting here about it. After all, a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks which could buy a few other Cd's with some pretty good stuff on them right here at Renderosity. :)
Thread: Bengal Tiger by Dedicated Digital | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
He definitely shouldn't be able to take money and not provide what he advertises. I know I wouldn't want to have to go through all 150 models on that CD and rework the cr2's to point to the right files. There were about 30 in the tiger cr2 alone. I guess thats why he doesn't have an email or any other way to contact him on his site(complaints??).
I do see he points people to sites where his CD is sold however and if enough people complained they may either tell him to fix it or no longer offer it for sale. Seems to me that a few of us here did that once before when some members had a similar problem with getting ripped off by someone who was selling similarly defective models etc. and it worked.
(And I wonder how the other formats do or if some of them also have similar problems. Think I will try the Lightwave and Max ones to see:)
Thread: Bengal Tiger by Dedicated Digital | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Figured out the problem. Seems that the modeller made the texture map a jpg called bengal_tiger.jpg and the cr2 calls for one called bengal_tiger_lo.tif. Went in and edited the cr2 but the person/people who are selling the cd should address the problem or not sell it in my opinion.
Thread: Voting on Gallery Uploads | Forum: Community Center
Attached Link: http://beelzebulb.net
I've been posting images off and on here for a longer time than a lot of members in this discussion but with the number of images now in some of the galleries I hardly bother anymore. The reason I don't bother posting very often anymore is because there is no longer much time for people to really view my stuff anyway because of the sheer volume of pictures posted every day. In my humble opinion and for what its worth I think that quality does seem to be something one should strive to accomplish before posting a picture. And there are very few of us who can make a true quality picture at the rate of one a day if just because the strain on the imagination and eyes would be enormous. I personally think one picture a week in the more busy galleries such as the Poser and Bryce ones should be sufficient and who knows, more than 30 to 40 people may get to view your work before it gets buried. And if you posted only pictures which you want to be truly satisfied as belng worthwhile posting then having a week to work on it can only make it better than hurrying to upload a picture or more every day. So my vote for the galleries which I usually post in (Poser/Bryce) is one per week as there are those here who are certainly much more prolific than I am and can handle a truly quality image every week. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
