"but it's a far cry from what you V5I'ers are capable of" Guess what, I just voted it for the hot20 'cos I think it's really good!

Well, I modelled everything it is in my image "Back to the game" for a contest some time ago, and I think that was one of the reasons they choose it for the Grand Prize... But, usually in a contest is much more important the compositon, lightning and overall "feeling". So yes, if I need an item that I want not/cannot buy I try to model it by myself... but I prefer to concentrate in making the image than making the single objects.Thread: Gothic Doll for Aiko | Forum: MarketPlace Customers

"I have absolutely no idea how any of this works, zero experience, and even less patience." Read The Funny Manual. Sorry, but you can't charge in saying that this program is different from your usual CAD progs and complaining that you have no patience to learn its proper use. The end result will be that you'll be no able to do anything with it, if you don't devote to it an hefty part of your time.

Yep, I find Shade interface quite unwielding... I Like Modo 101 better... shame is, I've won Shade 7 Professional (during a contest with one of my images), but I find it very difficult to use :(

This all makes no sense. Everybody knows that 'Rosity serverfarm was almost fried when a stray microwave laser beam shot from the Eurasian orbital defence platform narrowly missed one Grey saucership scout attempting to direct its attitude manipulators toward the site of a top-secret USAF/Hydran meeting...

"What would be meaningful advantages/disadvantages of using a higher end package with Poser?" Main disadvantage: totally different materials. AKA, you will not be able to simply transfer a Poser figure/scene and have the same materials you have in Poser, so you have to start tweaking the materials from zero.

Yesterday I've posed and clothed a V3 character in Poser6, saved it as .pz3, the loaded it in Vue5... Don't know, but as I remember, I was used to do exactly the same when I was using V4 without probs...

"DAZ forum mod, so take with added salt" RHaseltine, your reply is far more balanced and objective than many fanboys of both programs! :D

I usually choose to have only one application of any type on my pc, and the benefits of Poser for me heavily outweights the ones of D|S. Usually, in Poser6 I pose things/characters very fast using OpenGl preview (I've an old Radeon 9800 card), choose lights and check with the area render small parts to be sure of the lightning I choose. Then I launch rendering while I'm doing something other on the PC(usually watching a DVD or surfing the web), so for a good final result the times are of no meaning to me. I don't think that the two apps compliments each other, there's so much to learn and experiment to find new way of use them that I think it's better to focus on ONE of them... which one, it's all a matter of personal preferences :)
