Turbo tax found that they sold 5 million copies of software last year, and 15 million returns were filed with it. They put that stuff on to prevent folks from loaning it out..and they've taken some heat for it as well.<<< I do not blame TurboTax for doing what they did... just like I did not blame Curious Labs for their protection system (There were too many other things they did wrong they could be nailed for anyway). TurboTax had and has a right to try and defend their property. Their product is useful, saves me a ton of time and they deserve to be paid for its use. I do not place their protection system in the same category as the ambush I got hit with by simply clicking on a link to download or investigate an offered Poser item in Freestuff. Fauve, yep, Orbit explorer or whatever it calls itself is another of those pieces of cyber-terrorism floating around. I may have to try Spyware Blaster. If it is as configurable as you say, it might prevent the type of problems I had with my current system and TurboTax/C-Dilla. I'm going to look into the program Trav mentioned also. ladynimue, As I told Crescent, I have this gut feeling the entity behind the posting may have altered the site AFTER approval. A few lines of html code here, a few more there and you've got your cyber-ambush all set. I tried the link 3 times from 2 different systems and it hit me each time. Frankly, it is my opinion that those who use this sort of ruse or tactic should be permanently banned. They know exactly what they are doing. They are a menace to the community and should be treated as such. But, that is just my opinion. Thanks for the quick reaction. I, for one, appreciate it. Take care, be well, keep flying. casamerica

Hey, Cas... try installing Spyware Blaster. It's free, you only have to run it once and once you do it automatically and silently prevents any of that adware crap from ever getting installed. That little gadget is worth its weight in gold, I swear.<<< Thanks, fauve. I may try it. What I have now just causes all sorts of bonker behavior with TurboTax trying to run. It may just be inherent in the type of protection TurboTax is using. We just shouldn't have to worry about this sort of stuff here. We should have enough respect for one another not to pull this crap. Take care, be well, keep flying. casamerica

Don't run anti-spyware software if you have anything that runs C-Dilla(sp?) for the licensing verification.<<< Yea, I had to disable my usual protection temporarily because of the new licensing software TurboTax is using. In fact, I think TurboTax is using C-Dilla. It caused all sorts of havoc! Guess with the puke-laden, fecal-eating scum-suckers invading here now I'd better get things wrapped up and get that back up pronto. Take care, be well, keep flying. casamerica

Crescent, I've IM'd you. I tried the site 3 times from 2 different systems. It hit them each time. I am positive on the scu---..., hmmm,... culprit. Take care, be well, keep flying. casamerica

Geesh, Trav, you have no idea how time these are going to save. I love your light sets. They've saved me a countless amount of time setting scenes. Thanks. Thanks alot. Take care, be well, keep flying. casamerica

BTW, before those of you out there just waiting to tell me just how "ungateful" I am to freestuff providers get started, I want to state that you do not want to go there. I am very grateful. There are simply too many ethical, honest freestuff providers to mention. It doesn't mean I or any of you have to put up with this sort of underhanded, unethical behavior. I view this sort of behavior as an insult to all those honest freestuff providers. Take care, be well, keep flying. casamerica

As my experience just a few minutes demonstrates, eliminating spam links or popup sites is not a goal. I went to a site to investigate an offering in Freestuff. Once there, it immediately began invading my system attempting to install ClockSync on my system. Not good. Am I sure it was this site? Yep. Opened IE, came here, clicked on that site's link in FreeStuff. The attempt was almost immediate. I was not a happy camper. Did not appreciate it one bit. Rather low, selfish and dastardly I thought for a fellow community member to try and backdoor me that way. Take care, be well, keep flying. casamerica
Thread: p4+pro pack VS> p5+pro pack...? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
you'll love lightwave.<<< I worked with a previous version many years ago while employed elsewhere. There have been a few projects where the client really thought LW was the ONLY way to get the job done until shown what C4d could do. But LW has always held a certain place in my heart. ;-) >>>now even if they fix p5, you won't like it... but why?<<< After being lied to, betrayed and stabbed in the back one generally does not return for seconds. Anyway, in my opinion and I stress that this is just MY opinion, I do not believe Poser 5 to be reparable... and neither do I believe is CL's reputation. Again, just my opinion. Thread: p4+pro pack VS> p5+pro pack...? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The bottom line is that even if they do offer a pro-pack that "works" with Poser 5, you still have Poser 5 as the foundation for it all. Regardless of the number of "service releases" they crank out, it is still Poser 5. And that is a concept I cannot accept. I currently use Poser 4+Pro Pack plus Cinema 4d and I also use Poser 4+Pro Pack with Vue d'Esprit. Very satisfied with those combinations. I am considering a move into Lightwave in the near future. If so, Poser 4+Pro Pack will be its partner.
Poser 5 is long ago history with me. History but not forgotten or forgiven.

Thread: Should I buy Poser 4 or 5? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'd opt for Poser 4/Pro Pack and Vue. I would go with P4 over P5 for reasons which I will not restate here but which have been adequately and fully stated by many. I have both Vue and Bryce. There are a few reasons I prefer Vue. It works very, very well with Poser 4 pz3 scenes. There have been times I have opted for a Poser 4/Vue scene over a Poser 4/Cinema 4 scene. I feel the Vue renderer is faster than Bryce. I prefer Vue atmospheres over Bryce, yet I agree that Bryce lighting is a bit more flexible especially for any interior work. Also, another advantage with with Vue is that you do not have the joy of having to deal with Corel, who happens to be in very dicey financial straits right now. Who knows where Bryce will end up? If anywhere. Do not under estimate the importance of this. Corel IS in very precarious shape, IMHO. My vote - Poser 4+Pro Pack+Vue. Take care, be well, keep flying. casamerica
Thread: Need a pub/bar | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Richard Albri (My apologies if the spelling is incorrect) has the excellent Lava Bar over at DAZ and x2000 has the equally excellent bar over at the store on Poser Pros or Animotions. I don't, off hand, remember exactly what the prices are but I do know they are extremely reasonable. I just got the x2000 bar this week... still playing. Take care, be well, keep flying. casamerica (Please note: I am in no way affiliated with either vendor mentioned above or with the sites mentioned other than as a customer. I have received no monetary, in-kind or sexual favors for the above referrals.)
Thread: When biasness matters more than art?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Milady, allow me to repeat what I stated below your art. Never dwell on the inability of others to deal with their own inadequacies when those inadequacies render them unable to see beyond or hide their own impotence and inabilities. Write it off to jealousy and keep creating whatever you damn well please! You do excellent work! Take care, be well, keep flying. casamerica
