Thread: import vector art? | Forum: Vue
I exported my last object (the last medieval castle for Vue) in .obj and .lwo and both works perfectly! I have Blender 2.37a (with Python installed) and Vue 4.2. The .obj export command generate two files: object.obj and object.mtl (materials index). You must copy both where you want. The dimensions of files are, for my last castle: castle.lwo - 42 k castle.obj - 460 k !!! castle.mtl - 4 k .obj files are a little big... Install Python and use always the .lwo export format, it is the best IMO. Maybe you must install Python for .obj export, too... If you have any problem, we can make an experiment with the same objects, just send me your email, but first, try to install Python. You are sure you import that objects correctly in Vue (if other .lwo files from the NET don't work)?

Sorry for this late response (thank you, Walther, for reminding me, I read very rare the Forum).
You can make a valid Blender-to-Vue export in many formats, for example:
If you want to use the .lwo format you must install Python too.

In Blender, before the export command, you must select only the object/objects you want to export. Don't select lights or camera.

Selecting camera then ALT-T (clear) is enough.

Thread: Question about preparing for export | Forum: Blender
Blender export only the selected objects. The best export formats are IMO: .lwo (lightwave) and .obj.

You must read the free e-books and follow the tutorials with patience. After some learning time you will be capable to do very cool things. The problem is most of people give up after the first hard learning hours. :(

Thread: Learning curve? | Forum: Blender
IMO don't waste your time learning other software parallel with Blender, because you can make everything you want directly in Blender. Anim8or is very poor (no raytracing etc.; developed by a single man = 1 new version/10 years :))Wings is a very good modeler, but only a modeler and Blender is a powerful modeler too. The first days of learning Blender are a little hard, then you will like very much the interface and shortcuts.
Thread: Toolbar- Look forward to this.. | Forum: Blender
I only load a wood texture (you know the trick CTRL+left click on the LOAD button?) and 'map to cube' the texture. I don't saved the scene but, if you want, I will made another scene (1 min of work :)) and send you the file.

@Silgrin: I made a render for you: http://criss.site.voila.fr/temp/silgrin.JPG Hope you like it! ;) @Nicholas: I'm not an expert in Blender, I have a lot of things to learn!

Thread: Toolbar- Look forward to this.. | Forum: Blender
@Nicholas86: VERY rare you must press more than 2 buttons. Clicking on the toolbar - always with a mouse promenade - is slower always! @Silgrin: The print version of the Guide (39 Euro) is not the same version with the download version. You will find everything you want in that book. BDW, what problem do you have with the material editor? When I got stuck with a problem, I asked on Elysiun and always I found the answer!

In my opinion, Blender is not so hard to learn. I learn the basics in ~ two weeks, reading the two beginners manuals and follow the tutorials. And Elysiun is a great place for ask questions! (Recently I bought the printed official guide, it is excellent!) I don't want the toolbar because the shortcuts and the interface are excellent!
