I have an Idea ! Choose one of your best pictures, print it and send it to Guitta with your best wishes for her. It's what I did today, I hope she will have some fun :-))) Let's all wish her good luck return to health - miracles can happen!
Thread: Vue4pro to DVD & minidv | Forum: Vue
Always the best solution is to render your animation not to a compressed format but to uncompressed format as a serie of bmp pictures. Then you can postprocess them and while you are satisfied with the result you can make a movie from this set of pictures - you can compress it as you wish , to any format you wish. Direct rendering to a compressed format is not recomended - because it is almost impossible to postwork such content. (during compression a lot of data is lost) slow rendering ? :-))) unfortunately this is the problem linked more to the idea of 3D (raytracing / radiosity) rather than to a software implementation. I tested many 3D applications, and I must admit that Vue is the one a few that produce great results in moderate rendering time - a lot of other software are much slower (ex. Bryce, Carrara) However everything depends of animator skills - how you optimize your scene, your objects, materials you use, lighting, rendering parameters etc. A big book could be written about everything you must done to not overload your scene and get quick renderings.

Strange ! I never had this problem - My Vue 5 imports all older scenes with all poser figures without any problem.
Thread: Renderfarming and Vue5? | Forum: Vue
If you would like to build a reliable and not very expensive render farm, you should use relatively powerfull and cheap processors that don't consume too much electrical power. In my opinion AMD Athlon 2000+ up to 2600 + could be a good solution.

Yeah ! I fully support Quest's point of view ! By the way - did anyone knows where I can find the picture that started all this discussion ?

Unfortunately, in our "free western society" there is a lot of censorship which mainly consist in a ban for criticism. You may lie, saying that something is amazing & wonderful, while everybody knows that it is not, but you have no right to say that someone's creation is completely bad - because it is tasteless, because it was done in 5 minutes and is simply a primitive kitsch, like 100 other scrap pictures he made. Form other hand, on some other non censored forums, the situation isn't better - you can found there fabulous pictures to which some trolls give very bad comments... Does anybody have a solution ?

GWeb, I wish you good luck trying to render on Carrara in one shot such a scene as shown in attachement. I did it on Vue 4 Pro on 1 AMD Athlon 2000+, 1 GB (but half of this memory would be enough). Original render was done in 5400 x 4050 pixels...Thread: Good Grief! I have a Pirated Serial Number! | Forum: Vue
I am persuaded that if you have a proof that you really purchased your Vue4Pro (an invoice?) There should be no problem to contact e-on help desk and ask them to correct the problem. I hope for you that you have not given your license number to a "friend" who posted it on internet, so now ther is a millon pirates who use it ;-)) - e-on is watching ! and knows how many users use a serial number - that's why you should keep it secret.
Thread: Buy Vue 5 or wait for pro? | Forum: Vue
Definitely buy Vue 5 non pro ! It will take about 6 month of intensive use of Vue, before you will learn about all functions offered by Vue 5, and probably then Vue 5 Pro will be available. You will have not to pay a full price of Vue 5 Pro surely ther would be an important discount for Vue 5 users. I started with old free Vue 2 - I used it for about 8 month before I switched to Vue 4 - and still there was a lot of functions in Vue 2 that I never touched. When you learn to be a pilot, you learn with a Cessna before you switch to a F-22 :-)
Thread: Render process speed | Forum: Vue
Optimisation of a scene for quick rendering is the real art - if you would like to have a lot of control over parameters that decide about rendering speed - you should choose Vue Pro. A very heavy scene (with hundreds of objects and many millions polygons) will render for long minutes or hours on any software. When I set a scene, since start I optimize it - thanks to this I can get very complex Vue scenes that would crash my (not very powerful) machine if rendered on other programs. Actualy I work on AMD 2000+ 1 GB - but one year ago I had only a Celeron 600Mhz and 320 MB - but still I was able to build & reder complex scenes

Thread: I got stupid and bought Vue 4 | Forum: Vue
A bad workman blames his tools.... I hope this proverb don't apply to you ;-)) Yes I confirm what aeilkama said - Have you ever tried to import other format objects into Vue 4 / Vue 5 ? In my opinion it works very well - only a few professional file converters sometime give better results. Just check my scenes to see how much there is third part objects imported without any trouble from such formats as 3DS, OBJ, LWO - to not mention excellent Poser import directly from poser files. The same for older Vue scenes - import of older scenes works well, some very old ones (2 and 3) need to be converted - but usually they are such old and simple that there is no point to use them. I converted all my Vue 2 scenes and they open with Vue 4.5 Pro or Vue 5 without any problem.

Thanks Agent ;-)) Now I have a much worst problem - transfer rate with renderosity is so bad that I can't download single picture - even thumbnails don't show - but this is the subject for another topic. :-(( Sad Robert

So of course Renderosity didn't take care to filter faulty HTML and simply forbid to use it... PHP generates a web page each time it is viewed - it base on database of images and comments which are obviously stocked separetly. It should be easy to filter comments for wrong HTML that can cause troubles. Of course it was much easier to simply forbid HTML. But why to forbid HTML for user's own description of the picture? If I fuck up the html and my picture will be not displayed, because I put "wrong HTML", it is my problem! WHY TO FORBID THAT ??? I will not belive in any explanation that it was done pro bono publico... Fortunately competition is growing... ( I talk about CGTalk :-) )
