Yep,they moved it.Define brush is now in the dropdown Edit menu.If it,s greyed out try changing the type of selection you have made.It doesn,t appear to be an option with the eliptical selection tool.Once you have defined & named your brush it will appear in the brush menu.Select it & a small icon of it will appear on the top menu options line.Right click on the icon & you will get an options menu to alter spacing etc..

The attached link will take you to a page with a demo of the sort of custom brush you need & an example of how its used to create hair texture. Its easy enough to create yourself.Use the preset brushes as a guide to how large you want to create your custom brush then paint the area with small scattered black dots on a white background.Select it with a small square.Seek out define brush in the brush menu(depending on which version of photoshop you have) and click OK.Once the new custom brush appears in your pallete either double or right click(can,t recall which)and this should bring up an edit brush option. It is important that you set the spacing to 1(one)to get the effect seen in the tutorial.Thread: need tutorials for figure painting | Forum: Photoshop

The easiest way to deal with visible light is to just paint the lighting effects on new layers then adjust the opacity of the layers until you get the effect you desire. The attached link should take you to a good tutorial that demonstrates how to create light & shade with the dodge & burn tools and then add light beams & such like.Thread: Trailing combat camera | Forum: Photoshop
Whenever I,m trying to fake any sort of camera or screen shot I use the old standbye of rounding off the corners. It,s probably not factualy correct these days with square, flat screen tv,s yet it seems to suggest "screenshot".

Thread: Graphics tablets.... Wacom Intuos? | Forum: Photoshop
I thought, that you would need to relate the size of the graphics tablet to the size of the final artwork, but finance forced me to purchase a smaller one than I originaly intended. It turns out that was a good move.I have the Wacom Intous 4x5 and its brilliant to work with and I can just pick it up and rest it on my knee or leave it alongside the keyboord without it taking up too much room.If your into "painting" with the computer its like getting a whole new improved version of Photoshop.
Thread: KPT 3 or KPT 6??? | Forum: Photoshop
I love 6.It has a feature called Gel that has a million uses,a pretty good sky creator and it allows you to open an image directly into a stripped down version of Goo,one of the most underated programmes out there for subtle image manipulation. It,s not just a rehash of 3 it,s all new filters and so you will continue to get use out of 3. The only thing I would check out before purchasing is if you intend to upgrade to Photoshop 6.I understand Photoshop 6 has a new filter called liquid which may be somewhere between Goo and Gel and so might reduce the attractiveness of KPT6. I,ve never used 6 so someone else might be able to clarify better.

You need to have the Layers pallette visible.By default its amongst the collection of pallettes on the bottom right. If you cant see it try "windows-show layers". At the top right hand corner of the pallette is a triangle click on this and you will get a number of choices including new layer. When you have created a new layer it will show up as a small icon in the pallette. They are stacked in the order they appear in the picture. On any layer other than the background layer you can go to the opacity slider at the top of the same pallette and slide it left or right altering the opacity. The eye icon to the left of each layer makes it visible or invisible by clicking on it. You must have a layer highlighted in the pallette (ie click on it ) to work on that layer. The link above has some well illustrated text effects tutorials. Not exactly what you want, but they should help answer your layers questions. Good luck.Thread: Help Please | Forum: Photoshop
If I understand you correctly you want to alter the colour of the texture map to match the bump map ?.Asuming your texture and bump map have identical proportions, load both images into Photoshop.Select all the bumpmap.Edit copy. Then select the texture map image and create a new layer.Edit paste the bumpmap onto the layer. You can then reduce the opacity of the bumpmap so that you can see through it and check that everything is aligned.By selecting the areas you want on the bumpmap then switching the layer off and ensuring the texture map layer is selected you can alter it as you wish. Delete the bumpmap layer and save the altered texture layer with a new name. Very important point from spanfarkle.Always work on copies of a texture not the original, in case it messes up.

Thread: Playboy Uses Poser???????????????? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Couldn,t resist an invitation to check out Playboy. One of the "Lads" Magazines.I think it was Loaded had some interactive Poser stuff a little while back under a "Find the Eroginous Zones" article that was just as bad.At least now I know which Polygons to nibble. Did anyone check out the Comix and Animation 2000 contest they appear to be running.I only had a chance to check out the Week4 winner but there was some really good 3d Animation. I don,t know if the everyone already knows about the contest but there is a lot of stuff I,ve viewed via Renderosity that could easily stand to be entered.
