relatively simple one, this.
Like Sydney - not much stuff for her because she looks like she's been in a horrific cheek-pulling accident. Generally artists vote with their feet - you can't expect something as fickle as the internet to be a relentless archive for all things, because it's a network of humans and humans move on. Generally.

Is this a spoof thread? I can't decide. More and more unrealistic, nonsense, soul-less poser standard bumph from 1997. Guys, if you spend too long looking at a single non-real figure, you start to think it's real. Go outside, have a look at real people. Please.

Thread: Realism in Poser7. Challenge? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
the thing is, when you spend ages on a render in Poser (or any app) you loose sight of what's real and what just looks good. I created the above character from 2 photo refs in about half an hour yesterday and rendered it in Poser 7 (using the poser 4 engine) - if I'd have spent 4 days on it it would have looked a lot different, but not necessarily better. Spec is just as important (if not more so) as diffuse, and using the fastscatter node in P7 is a nice way to fake subsurface scattering and avoid lots of postwork (there's almost none in the image above - just blurring dodgy polygon edges). Finally, no matter how good you are with photoshop, you CAN'T create textures from scratch - you've got to use photo references.

- this link quoted earlier just doesn't look even slightly real because the user, talented though they are, has got carried away in photoshop putting the texture together. Then the bump map is set ridiculously high, etc etc.
My image above doesn't look real either - but I put it there to show what Poser 7 can do in 8 minutes of setup (I spent the rest of the 1/2 hour modelling and sorting the photo refs) - my conclusion being that if we haven't achieved realism in Poser, it's certainly not Poser's fault.

install SR1 update for poser 7. Also, check render > settings to make sure you've got the right background option checked for your P4 render.

Not a subscriber - issue 89 is out in the shops now (in the UK - it'll be a few weeks before they come out in the US), and issue 90 has just gone for production.
If you're in the US or Australia or Canada, you'll be a few issues behind I guess.
The issue with the pretty3D stuff (#89) is the one with the baboon on the front. Issue #88 has nothing decent on the CD - that's the one with the white sci-fi figure on the front, and issue 87, well blimey, that was ages ago. Probably has Oliver Cromwell on the front.

uh, labrador dog, a female deer, a brilliant mammoth (with seperate fur body), a triceratops and spinosaurus, and loads of other 'extinct' species.

I'd also recommend that you don't compare your eye renderings to other people's renderings - compare them to photos and try to recreate actual eyes. Not that I've got it right or ever will, but it's fun having a good go.

I did this a few years ago (SEE LINK) in poser 4 just by seeing how each option affected rendering, then applying things like HDR probes (as JPG, HDR info lost obviously on Poser 4) to the reflection of the cornea with transparency at 99%, but reflectivity up to the max. It's always trial & error unless you're the guy who's made the application.

Bryce is free on 3D World magazine this month. But it's rubbish so don't bother.
BEST 3D modelling program is new - MOI (www.moi3d.com) - it's currently in free Beta and is made by a Rhino3D-defector. VERY easy to use & NURBS supporting (won't mean anything to you unless you're wanting to create solid objects for manufacture).
