I believe art is such a personal thing. I think that when we make our images we have made them in such a way that they either make us happy or touch our spirit. That's why we do it. Now whether this involves post processing or not doesn't matter. I have seen some jaw dropping fractal images here where post processing was obviously used. And other equally awe inspiring images where there is no post processing. Actually the moment a fractal is generated pp has already taken place. Colours have been applied, layering etc. Art is like the imagination - it should be as free as the wind. Fran aka Fractal Dreamer

Hi Marit, You should have a folder titled Kandid-0.2.2 Open this folder and you will see a file called "Kandid Executable Jar File" which is 556kb. Click or double click on this file and wait several seconds. The programme should then open. (You need to have a recent java machine installed on your computer for the programme to work. http://java.sun.com/j2se/downloads.html) Because I know nothing about java or java machines I found the whole process of getting this programme to run a bit confusing. It took me a couple of days to get it going. Hope it doesn't take you that long :-) As for the programme itself. It is quite easy to use and I find the whole idea and concept of genetic art very fascinating. It is fun to play with. However the images themselves at this stage seem a little basic to me. Maybe because this artform is still in its developing stages? Hopefully in the future with more programme improvements the images that are produced will be much more sophisticated. Fran

Well it looks very interesting and I would love to try it out but when I tried to run the java applet on the home page the window that opens is quite small and I am missing some of the info. I have no way of dragging the window to enlarge it. Also is there a windows version that I can download. I couldn't seem to find one. Fran

Wow that sounds terrific. The Gimp is a great freeware programme.

Maybe you are already aware that the Gimp for windows can also make great flame fractals. I have a gallery of flame fractals on my website www.arcanefractals.com/flame.shtml and these were all made in the Gimp (for windows systems). Some of the images are actually one flame rendered ontop of another. There is a tutorial on my site that explains how to use the Gimp flame plugin.
