Hi there again,The survey is going OK and a fair number of people have taken it but the more the merrier.
While I can't give any results yet, some trends are starting to show.
If you haven't taken it yet please click the above link.
Thanks again.
Thread: The Daz3D Content Survey (Unofficial and Unsupported) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I just want to know where the "tempest in a teapot" option is. ;)
One less jocular question I have ab't said survey...
I don't have a platinum club membership (because I don't buy that much stuff from anybody these days), so why would the last question be relevant to me? Maybe an option of " not applicable" would be useful.
The presence or abscence of Genesis hasn't changed my perception of having a PC membership or the reasons why I would want (or not want) one. The reason I don't have one is because I don't spend enough to justify 'buying' bulk discounts at any store.
Just a thought.
Actually I thought of putting in a question similar to the teapot option - maybe next time. Possibly something like "In regards to the issues voiced in the forums regarding Genesis are you:
Freaked?
Pissed?
Annoyed?
Indifferent?
"Genesis all the way baby!"?
"What does a creation belief have to do with any of this"?
As to the last question I thought the first question covered what you're asking. The last question was merely to see if you would renew or purchase a membership or would wait to see what happens (I guess in a way the tempest in the teapot answer).
It's the first time I've put together a servey so I expect there will be a learning curve on how to phrase questions and what kind of options to offer in the answers.

That's Ok if Daz doen't care about the results - this survey is to satisfy some curiosity. And who knows - maybe they'll be interested as well.
Hopefully it won't be easy to stuff. With the way I set it up a person can only answer once from a particular ISP. Anyways I did say it was unofficial and unsupported.

Results will be shown on the above link. It's called:"The Daz3D Content Survey (Unofficial and Unsupported)"
And since I created the survey I'll have to refrain as well. Thanks for your interest though.
If you could please pass it on - the more who participate the better.

Hey everyone,After going though this and a few other forums regarding this and similar topics I've created a survey to see where people stand on the content issue at Daz3D.
I've posted links to the servey site here and on the Daz3D general form. It's called:
The Daz3D Content Survey (Unofficial and Unsupported)

Hey Rand,
Thanks for your response. I truly hope Daz follows through on what you say is in the works for the PS/Genesis crossover. Mind I am one of the early fans of Hexagon so I hope you can understand any scepticism I may have about this issue. Now don't get me wrong - as a content provider I have always found Daz one of the best out there. It's just that in the software department I've been disappointed enough times to have a proof is in the pudding attitude.
There are aspects of your responses such as the interface that I will have to agree to disagree on but that's O.K. we're not discussing sports, polotics, or religion (though some of the posts make it sound as if we are).
Pass on my thanks for those of your follows at Daz working on this issue - but please don't handle this like the afore mentioned Hexagon (those of you who have read the Hexagon forums at Daz know what I'm talking about).

Ok, hopefully I'm not reiterating anything for the umteenth time - while I've been a member of both the Renderosity and Daz forums for several years I normally don't bother commenting since I have little time to. What follows are a few points that have been floating around in my head as I've done my best to go though all of the responces over the last 6 pages.
In regards to the Genesis issue -
In a way it feels that Poser users at Daz are being shuffled asside like those of us who liked Hexagon (ok maybe this is an exaduration). Why can't a version for both platfroms be made? Just code one for Poser and one for DS Genesis - VOILA - no problems; users for both are happy. Yes this is more work BUT it doubles availabity and one would think profits. It can't be that hard since all content at its core is simply a mesh designed in 3D Max, ZBrush, Hex, etc.
The other thing is possibly we've become too dependant on Daz's characters. Maybe its time for Victoria to pass the torch? Recently there have been a number of V4 morph sets made available here in the Renderosity store that address the joint issues brought up in the past. It could be V5 is essentally redundant for anyone not using DS.
We seem to be comming to a point where its likely we'll eventually split into two camps like PC vs MAC - both having their ardent followers and defenders. To be honest this may have been eventual with the introduction of Daz Studio V1.
While Daz isn't obligated to support the Poser platform I do dislike the apparent removal of choice (both in content format and the installer issue if I understand it). As a person who has recently renewed his DAZ membership I'm a bit ticked off about this. I have to wonder if I'm going to have to just use my monthly credit for the sake of using it or getting content that I really want. If Renderosity wants to gain all the members Daz may loose over the chainges they're making, a blanket discount, credit system, and/or maybe exclusive freebies would sway my choice when my renewal comes up.
On the differences between PS & DS -
Personally - Poser all the way for the interface and capabilities. The drawback is that it has never really handled cross character compatability very well. I have yet to make wardrobe wizzard work as advertised without a lot of tweeking.
Genesis is what I've always wanted to see in Poser - except I'd want it to be backwards compatable with all the content I already have (ok maybe asking too much but a guy can wish can't he?). The problem I have with DS is that the interface is poorly planned. Its like the programmers did it this way so they would look as different as possable from Poser which has resulted in something that is NOT intuitive and feels @$$ backwards. I mean really - no manual and consistant changes without documentation (at least the last time I checked) is not a way to instill confidence in a product.
Converters or Plugin? To be honest I have yet to see a converter work as easily as advertised. To be worth it Daz and SmithMicro really need to work together on a seamless plugin (if this can even be done in the first place).
I still think seperate Daz and Poser fomats would be the simplest way to go. Daz may not see this as feasable - I don't see why not since some of the content designers here are starting to do this now.
Well that's my ramble. If it come to the point where there is a split - so be it - its been fun Daz.

Thread: Is It Getting Nasty Out There? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Woah There:huh:
Remember the purpose of this thread. It doesn't really matter if a person has a gallery or not (you can look at and comment on art without being an artist - and NO I DO NOT WANT TO GET INTO A DISCUSSION ABOUT WHAT IS AND ISN'T ART:glare:), It doesn't matter if you like an image or hate it, and it doesn't matter if you're a person who can only seek positive comments.
For the most part I agree with Sam, hawkfyr, and Nancy. Some of the early lessons we were taught at Emily Carr (Art College) was that if you couldn't take a critique you shouldn't be there - If you want controversy you'd better be able to back up your work (otherwise you deserve to get a strip ripped off of you), and you need to realize that while your image is in a public venue, you have no further control over it.
I'm not asking or wanting a "world of fluffy bunnies" (I only have so much gravol). My reasons for posting images is to get feedback from my fellow posters. If I didn't want to have any negative comments I wouldn't even bother posting in the first place. What I would LIKE is to find out if there is a general will of the members of this community to establish a level of etiquate (please pardon any spelling errors I may have made) where an artist gets critiqued instead of criticized (by the way I do live within this reality) or maybe see if any of you know of a better posting community.

Just a quick add-on.... If anyone reading this thread posts in another community, please let me know which one and what you think about it in comparison to renderosity.
