Hi Wizardkiss,
Don't know about full lenght movies with Poser, but I know of a lot of good movies that run about 5-15 minutes. My favorit flick is Crunk Wars by RedMonkey Pictures.
Here are a few Poser movies:

Thread: Poser 7 Party on Second Life | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Bar-code,
No problem - even though it is an unique experience and an industry first!Â
There are advantages and disadvantages:
The disadvantage of having a Poser 7 party on Second Life is that people need to register, set up an avatar and become familiar with walking, flying and getting around in SL.
The advantage is that appearing as a 3D avatar can be particularly appealing to Poser folks who are constantly in a 3D world. In SL you can also cutomize your avatar, dress it up in different garments and even endove it with specific walk styles (not to mention dance moves:-)
So, there's a pro and con to all this.
If you changed your mind, I will buy you a (virtual) drink at the party. Deal?
Best,
Laslo

Thread: ...Are Poser Figure Artist using Deceptive or Mis-leading Advertising? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Â
As the person who created and solely responsible for the video in question, I'd like to respond to some of the criticism in these pages regarding misleading advertising on this PFA video.
First of all, there was no intention whatsoever to misrepresent the capabilities of PFA. The capabilities of the program are spelled out in excess, including feature comparison charts between PFA and Poser on our WEB site. The video was done at such time where we had not yet finished building the application and had no artwork at hand that was created with PFA. Since PFA is based on Poser 6, including its rendering engine, we simply took Poser images and displayed it in the video with the intention of showing what type of art users would create using a similar application.
We did not explain in the video that there was post-processing with some of the art or provided credit of the participating artists (although, as someone pointed out earlier in this thread, we did have signed releases from all the artwork). This was an (unintended) mistake.
E frontier is highly responsive to user input, especially if it is about truth in advertising. While I personally feel that some people in this thread are venting unjustified ill feelings toward EF or PFA, I do think that a clarification is in order.
As such, we will amend the video with an end-page that clarifies the issue regarding the software use in creating the featured images and also provides credit to the artists.
Â
Sincerely,
Laslo Vespremi
Director of Strategic Marketing

Poser users can also buy Shade 8.5 for $99.99, which, of course can export directly into Poser and also import from Poser via Poser Fusion. Shade 8.5 comes with close to 1,000 high quality objects and unlike Home Designer, Shade has one of the best renderers in the industry, including raytracing, radiosity, Calisto, distributed rendering and much more....
Thread: P7 High Stakes special for DOWNLOAD ONLY! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Both ESD (download) and physical versions of Poser 7 SE (Special Edition) have the High Stakes content included, Poser 7 regular does not have High Stakes.
To get High Stakes, you must pre-order, as only those who pre-order will get the Poser 7 SE. After the pre-order period is gone, so will be the High Stakes.

Thread: Poser is for Perverts? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Jon,
That's quite insightful what you said there. Although I never thought of CG as another medium, I think that likening it to photography is right on target. It is a new technology that offers a chance for people to express themselves and their vision. I can go along with that.
Long ago I used to teach art history. One thing that is striking about art history is that originally there was no distinction between artists and non-artists (cavemen all painted, even medieval church frescoes were painted by all monks together, etc.). Â The Renaissance, with its technical sophistication created the true division between artists and non-artists.
What I fancy with CG (and especially Poser) is that it may well erase this technical gap and allow those who are artistically inclined to express themselves at a level that is on par with schooled artists. Thus, your analogy with the camera is correct – photography indeed can enable someone to create artistic value without a formal training.
(In a way of disclosure: I am the Marketing Director of e frontier and as such responsible for charting future directions of its software development). You see, it helps me to get up in the morning and think that my work is important because it may help people to regain something that was lost - their capacity for artistic expressions. If this sounds too self-important, please have my apologies.

Thread: Poser is for Perverts? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am thinking that e frontier should sponsor a physical gallery here in Santa Cruz (in addition to the online galleries) to show off art created with Poser, Vue, Manga, etc.
I confess that I have a serious art background (and an MFA from UC). Despite this, I think it is revolutionary tthat we now have tools that allow anyone (with or without art education) to express his/herself and create decent art that can be shown in an art gallery.
In short, software is a great equalizer that empowers people to create professional looking art, while before, without the software this would have led to embarassing results.

Sorry if I sounded too lecturing. I, too, make art with Poser. As an illustration, I am enclosing a recent piece called "Window". It is a 3D sculpture, a combination of plexiglass, inkjet print and James produced with STL (Shade and rapid prototyping equipment).

I think the discussion should be re-focused: what is art? How do you define art? What is your objective?
(For example; the Marxists believe that art is a mirror of the society/just as science is another mirror, etc. etc).
So, go on, look at your pieces. Are they "art" in the sense that you/others define art? Do they make an artistic statement, carry value, message - or are they just titillation?
I think these are the questions and not the task of defining what is pervert or not.

You may want to check out Virtual Fashion Basic for Poser (http://www.e-frontier.com/go/poser/addons).
This is by far the easiest way to create garments for Poser figures.
Thread: Rendering programs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Shade has by far the best renderer with raytracing, pathtracing, radiosity, GI, distributed rendering (on more than one machine), etc. Best of all, through the included PoserFusion you can directly import Poser figures/scenes and reneder them in Shade. It also offers options to render in QuickTime VR and animation. Shade 8.5 is discounted 50% for Poser users at $99.99
Check out some great renders at http://www.e-frontier.com/go/shade/galleries

Hi Trevorblack,
You are correct. VF originally came with a few figures and poses for these. The Poser figures were added to the Poser Edition only. Since they can be posed in Poser, there are no poses for them in VF ( and cannot be added).
Going forward, I am sure that meshes can be improved on and more features will be added at a later time. The big plus, as you noted, is that this program allows non-CAD people to create garments easily and export them directly as Poser library props.
