Wow Man! Like really cool! I can remember when we all wore tee shirts that looked like that.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. This one has been a BIG challenge for me. I forgot to preview my post on a PC so the Mac vs PC gamma thing got me(too dark on PC). Thanks for noticing the ambience on the horses - I knew something wasn't right there. I'll add the volume smoke and contour the field more to the shape of the road. I'll have to dig further on the Dragoons formation. I have seen paintings of them both ways but I guess I should find out for sure rather than rely on an interpetation which like mine may be wrong. I have done a new Grenadier who still looks good at middle distances (still under 700 polys). He has a real face and much better uniform but I don't think he will make it into this one as it would be a start over. I think I saw a page, tut... that showed how to do posable figures in Bryce. Does anyone know where to find it? Well back to work for me. Thanks again for the suggestions

Well here is a look at some of the models up close. They are really meant for distance shots. They are not posable. I save blank manikins and twist them about to pose them. They are pretty small though. One trooper's .obj file and texture template(512x) is 72k. I should only have to map the flags I hope.I put the Bob on there for Catlin. He has seven material zones and is about the same size as the Trooper. I have not started Betty yet.
I got started on little people after looking at Gerald Day's page(attached link). There is a lot of excellent lo-rez stuff there.
Well back to the horse (version 3). The first two had to be put out of their misery. :(

I can't wait to see this one when it is done! I'll look around for some German bombers. I think I saw some somewhere.

Sorry folks...I posted the WIP late and had to sleep. The troops are very lo-poly models made in Wings. There are different material groups set for their parts so colors can be set. They average 3000-5000 polys for each stick of 10 men. (I did a recount and there are 360 so far) Up close they look like toy soldiers as I made them for epic(distant) battle scenes. I will be glad to share them after the Challenge. ;) If there is interest I'll make some lo-rez units from other eras also.
By the way Flak... I have wanted to do an epic scene ever since I saw your awesome castle siege. That still blows me away everytime I look at it! I was trying not to do any postwork for this challenge since Zhann mentioned that in the outline for this month. Thanks for the tip on the Battle of Monmouth, I'll check that out.
I'll post a close up tonight if you all won't laugh! You will though! I have started on the horses...who needs sleep anyway?

Here is a link to a Carriage museum in Long Island that has 250 historic carriages from the New York area. They might have the type of carriage you are looking for. Here's their email- mail@longislandmuseum.orgThread: WIP in progress. Opinions and a Proposal | Forum: Bryce
This sounds like a lot of fun! That is a pretty terrific start you have there. It would definitely be a learning experiance.
Thread: Poser vs. Bryce | Forum: Bryce
For me ... all roads lead to Bryce. Poser, Pixels, Wings are all just ways to make things for Bryce. I've seen some great Poser Renders(definitly not mine) but nothing compares to Bryce's render quality at anywhere close to its price.
