Somehow I don't think it will happen. Not for any business reasons, but probably the simple fact that they would probably view it more as defeat to DAZ than anything else.
I hghly doubt as I have said before that these decisions are based on emotions, and by market pressure I meant their customers. If enough of them scream loud enough SM might add support. It just makes so much business sense.

Yes they made an era in judgment.
**dzfire1102 teases and you spill the beans? Maybe market pressure will force SM to add Genesis support (the tri and quad)?

btw: nDelphi - my lights are dead simple, a lot of my renders just have one infinite light off to the side (as the sun). I think what you're looking for is materials and render settings. I can share my render settings but the materials is a bit of a long story. I'd have to make a tutorial for that, which I do have planned... after PE hehe
Yeah, what was I thinking. It's more than just the lighting.

I've always got the feeling Project E was going to be figure that would finally make a lot of the figure-critics very happy.
BTW, do you sell a light kit? The lighting you use on your renders looks great.

We could get into it, but the bottom line is, how exactly is that going to grow your business, especially since you have forumite's now speculating that DAZ is investment run with purpose of raising value so they can sell the company? And they got that from your interview. Daz is watching and I suggest you clean that up quick. That's why I said the airing served no real purpose.
So your beef is that people have no reading comprehension and are speculating about the future of DAZ 3D based on accounts of what happened in the past? Speculation, so what. That's been my gripe with most of the Poser zealots and those who can't except change, or what business decisions are. To them change means a conspiracy is upon them.

This thread has gotten decidedly interesting. Can anybody give me an exact URL of where to find that interview? I'd like to read it. Yes, I'm fascinated about reading how the computer industry got where it is, and 3D Modelling programs is one aspect of it where it seems to be very difficult to come up with a viable business model since it is very resource intensive to keep those programs up to date.
I hope I don't get slapped for the link, but here it is:

I have read the interview and agree it definitely has some 'spin'. For instance while it discusses the relationship between DAZ and POSER ( and it's various owners) it makes no reference to the huge fallout between DAZ and Curious labs over the Poser 5 EULA ( June/July 2002 ) As I recall this held back DAZ figure development to Poser 4 level features for a long time. More details here...http://www.cocs.com/poser/poser5mess.htm.
I read half way thru that page and right now I understand why DAZ 3D decided to code their own application. It isn't like the rewrite of history like most Poser zealots keep harping. "Why would xx/SM work with DAZ when they went out and created DAZ Studio, and you expect SM to work with DAZ 3D after that", etc. etc. I knew it had to do with a business decision and not an emotional one.

So to me that interview reeks more of desperation than anything else, and is very unprofessional for an owner of a company to even do.
Which interview is that? The 2013 interview with 3D Art Direct? And why shouldn't an owner of a company not be interviewed? I don't understand this logic.

SM was basically asleep behind the wheel for the last decade, but DAZ going all out "professional" will shut out a lot of hobbyists who are just in it for the fun.
Exactly. Expect DAZ to get more "complex" and less user-friendly (also known as "locked" by Linux/Ubuntu/MAX/Blender users) Expect freebies (including PC+ freebies) to be either static (we already have a bunch of those, but I'm talking about just stagnant freebies) or for them to grind down to 1 freebie per month, just like the industry standard.Someone may only want to buy a single model for an indie license, rather than a license for everything on the site. So out with the low hobbyist prices, in with the "prohibitively expensive because it comes with a dev license just like TurboSquid and CGTrader models" prices. Finally, expect the industry standard of woefully unfriendly search and dropdown category features just like you see on TurboSquid, CGTrader, etc. (no, I mean even WORSE than what Daz has now-- FAR worse) Welcome to the industry standard, everybody!
Freebies, static? I downloaded so many freebies from DAZ 3D in the past three months to have lost count. I don't think I'll ever use most of that stuff, but I still grabbed it. How is that static? And about "industry standard" prices? I have purchased a ton of stuff at between 60% to 80% off, and this includes Genesis 2 stuff, and I am not even in their PC membership program.
I got a boat load of Zev0's stuff, for example, for very cool sales prices.
I am going to have to check with a scientist and make sure I am not living some of the time in a different dimension than some of you, or perhaps it is some of you who are shifting thru time? LOL!

Corporately DAZ are following a very sensible policy of maximising profit by upgrading their product very regularly to encourage people to buy new product and spend more money. In my "opinion" the end result in the render is not huge over V4. Both look very good in Both poser and Studio. DAZ is greedy... it is a business. The boss of DAZ is not in it for the karma.
It's not corp. greed, it's a business. Corp. greed would be if DAZ 3D was trying to break standards to become a monopoly. Maybe you can understand it if I put it to you this way, or maybe not.
If DAZ 3D does not innovate another company, not even SM, because as I see it they dropped the ball, DAZ 3D will be in the same position SM is in today. In business, if you don't innovate and/or become the market leader you will die.
As explained a gazillion times, DAZ 3D is not sticking it to anyone and they are doing what I would do in their position, even accepting industry standards. Moving forward. This is good not only for the hobbyist but new customers coming in from other platforms (a brilliant move). We get better and better figures. Victoria 7 is nothing as compared to Victoria 10 when it comes out, but coming out it will. You can wait until then or join in now, either way the market is moving. Stop taking it personally. This is the nature of the business. Technology moves forward.
And you don't have to move to any new figure if you don't want, V4 is still being supported.
If DAZ 3D is so evil and greedy why is it that their affiliate program is the best in the industry? They share the wealth with those who put in the effort. I do OK as an affiliate and I am not even a PA.

It's incredible that some people on the forums, and it is always the same few people, don't even want to believe in the statistics.
"bury one's head in the sand, to avoid reality; ignore the facts of a situation:"
I mentioned early on in this thread that as an affiliate I always see the explosion in purchasing, and I can see clearly that the market loves the new figure. Many of the people here have to learn to see past their little orbit. And when they are wrong and are presented with the facts not bury their heads in the sand. You are not hurting me with your delusions, you just don't want to face facts.

Oh, BTW. You don't really have to purchase V7. V7 is based of G3F and G3F is free. So anyone who really wants to see the new figure in action can just grab DAZ Studio for free.

it's always left to Zev0 to make the argument about market forces. This is what drives DAZ 3D, it's not emotion.
With every figure we see the same. I don't need this or that, etc. You may not, but there are others that do, and those others are in the majority, who don't frequent forums. I am willing to bet that V7 is being purchased like mad. There are those who have been waiting for a more lifelike superior figure and DAZ 3D is filling in that need excellently.
You are entitled to that opinion so I will not argue on the substance except how do you quantify the majority need the latest and greatest. Looking at the galleries on line the majority care very little for the latest and greatest and either do not use the old figures to the full or, occasionally, are doing stunning renders with V4 figures and figures even earlier. I accept that the majority do not frequent the forums but then how do we know what they want. I have no issues with Daz developing V7 and I have no doubt it will sell well, not that we will ever no the truth because no one in the know will admit it if it does not.
Actually, as an affiliate I have an idea.
The same was said about Genesis and Genesis 2. And yet, they sold like hot cakes and so will this one. And if you say you don't see many renders with these new figures it just goes to show that the majority of purchasers have other ideas in mind when they they purchase, it isn't to post art on the web.Having written the above I now know why these debates are better left to those who are married to their favorite software.
You missed the point, .... Believe me I would be happy if someone could show me the expressions have improved.
I am sure we will see some soon. Some clever PA will also add to them. I asked a person to post some extreme expressions. I am sure I will see his work soon. It will give me a better idea of what to expect out of the box.

For somebody like me who uses it mostly to create comics, it isn't necessarily a selling point, I'll have to see how much better the facial expressions are (they were abysmal with Genesis, but pretty good with Genesis 2). Those are important for what I do.
This is why I am a great candidate for this new figure. Expressions. I am so tired of the manikin look. I want a figure with facial character. This is why my Genesis 2 figure purchases had to have HD.
