i may get shot down here,but heres my opinion, ive got loads of characters and the eye maps that come with them, and some have fantastic eyes,but sometimes when ive used a different characters eyes with a different characters skin,sometimes it just doesnt look good at all

So the conclusion i have come to is you just need to look for sets that YOU find pleasing,which we cant really help with,but also be aware that just using one set of eye mats doesnt work for ALL figures

What seems to have happened with me is that ive collected a few decent figures over the years and have stuck with them,maybe altering the maps in photoshop for different looks as i need them

so what do i have to do now if i want cuffs and collars etc on my clothing? just model those and not bother about having an inner mesh?

i thought id read somewhere that the fitting room doesnt tolerate shoddy modelling but surely having a clean solid mesh with defined edges should be ok or am i hoping for too much?

i had a look at the clothing and i removed the edges like the cuffs and the inside layer of polys and now the cloth on top works!

does this mean that the fitting room only works with single layers of poly objects?

ive tried zbrush, im sure its really good if you can spend 6months getting to know it,but i have to say the best ive found is mudbox,its got the best bits of zbrush while being very easy to use, and once you get your head around the layers system it uses you will really enjoy painting with it :-)

i wish i could make some of the content some of you have mentioned, i will have to bite the bullet and learn how to get poser clothing to work,the modelling bit is easy its just the rest of it lol

i have seen a lot of textures made with filterforge etc which must have taken all of ten mins to make,and i agree its quite easy in photoshop to recolour hair textures because ive done it myself to improve some renders,but i suppose its up to the buyer,if you dont feel its of value dont buy it,but i think the point is that more useful texture sets are needed.

speaking as a struggling vendor :-) ive tried to avoid falling in the trap of making stuff for others as i will be constantly worrying if ive spent a load of time producing something that nobody wants,ive decided to put on sale the things ive made in producing my artwork,i realise that that sounds like me being arrogant but at the moment being a vendor isnt my sole source of income but also ive heard vendors say that its a struggle to produce artwork etc as always busy producing content,and i want to still be in a position to produce my artwork

i suppose theres a couple of opposing factors in making quality content;

vendors time and also concern of producing items the public WANT to buy

vendors not knowing what content to make

buyers frustration at low quality items

buyers frustration of limited breadth of subjects

perhaps a partial solution to this could be to devise a site wide voting system obviously after a while a picture would emerge what would be the publics top choices but such a system wouldnt be able to cope with individaul unique requests etc 

just a thought.

got to admit that there is starting to be a steady trickle of steampunk stuff coming thorugh,although its not really my scene i can see some good well made items out :-)

i think levanah you should do a bit of tutorials and just pick what info from the manuals you need to complete them and learn gradually,IMHO i think you need to have a photographic memory to read the manual first THEN apply what you have read,there can be hundreds of commands etc cant be expected to remember them all,

you would think by now that some enterprising programmer would have come up with a program/plugin that can PROPERLY import say an fbx rig and the available motions and  transfer it to a basic M4 or V4 mesh? they would make an absolute fortune in sales because we have a program that deals primarily with figures and it is still just dipping its toes into figure animation?

ps and before people reply saying that you can with poser etc i mean EASILY, like select figure,select bones/motion, import, done.
