Thread: Why hasn't the official POSER13 forum been launched yet? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

All of my characters wear Valiant or Courageous (my graphic novels are for ST (TOS). They are so easy to move between characters.I want clothing like the Valiant and Courageous packs for M4 and V4. Bodysuits are great, and LF has at least three, but Valiant and Courageous allow you to make a variety of fantasy, SF, and contemporary clothing that's NOT skintight. The tunic has "belt" morphs and material zones that let you turn it into a shirt or shorter tunic or dress, the pants have "boots" morphs, the boot decorations can be hidden if want them plain, etc. Just an incredibly versatile pack.
I have created extra tunic colors (Gray - Logistics, Admin; Green - Weapons, Security); reworked all of the badges (Captain has the ship badge - everyone else has a division badge).

The easiest way to make improvements to the cloth room is to address the UI.
I have been using it forever, but it is still quite cryptic.

Honest question:
Why don't more people learn how to create content?
It's not rocket science.
If you can use Poser you can create Poser content and learn how to make the items you're not finding in the store.
It's not as difficult as you might think it is. Time consuming and frustrating at times but not difficult. It's much easier to do today than it was in the days of V4 and earlier. Not just in terms of Poser's own creation tools but in the modeling software.
If you aren't happy with the content that's available you could learn to make your own and share it, either free or commercially and we could see less arguments about only seeing certain types of content in the store.
'Rosity has a bunch of tutorial videos on how to use poser as a customer but very little in terms of how to build content for poser.
We could have discussions devoted to learning how to rig a piece of clothing or texture a custom hair model properly.
2. It is much, much easier (and cheaper, and faster) to simply run my clothing content through a conversion program and touch up with the morph brush. For the end user, the end product doesn't have to be good enough to sell - it has to be good enough for the image at hand.
You do remember why the fitting room was added to Poser, don't you? The Poser team was very up front about it - vendors don't support Poser figures not named V4/M4. It is much, much easier to git gud with WW, CrossDresser, or the Fitting room than it is to reinvent the wheel.
Whenever you launch the two figures you are working on - they will have a vast collection of clothing content (sans shoes) within a day in my runtimes. I don't depend on vendors - they only make what they are personally interested in, and I don't do pin up art anymore.
When I got the hang of WW back in the Sydney era, I predicted conversion software would kill a lot of 2nd & 3rd tier vendors in these forums - I was roundly mocked for my prediction.
And here we are. Any clothing I buy now has to be better than what is already in my runtimes - and very little is.

Oooohhh, can I play this game?
Imagine a new user.
If they were to use LF or LH (or any other post-V4 figure).
Does they have any normal clothes?
Nope - it is pretty much lingerie, fetish clothing, or casual summer wear. Why, don't you like all your art taking place in strip clubs or bedrooms?
Do they have any characters other than early 20's Caucasians?
Yes - we have 1 old Caucasian woman, 1 old Caucasian male, and a couple of other ethnic characters - why would you need more than 1 or 2?
Any kids?
No - why would you need those? they shouldn't be in strip clubs or bedrooms.
The selection seems to be pretty small for a figure that has been out for a couple of years already.
You have everything you need. Look how well they bend - it is easy to see, since we don't have any of that pesky clothing in the way.
But I would like .....
I only make what I am personally interested in. Why aren't you interested in what I make? Don't you understand how hard I have worked on this?
Maybe I should try DS, they seem to have a lot more of well, everything.
The reality is - vendors and endusers left for a reason. And it isn't the bendability of the base mesh.
(edit - any post V4 figure)

You continue to use Dawn SE. A new base mesh doesn't mean you have to replace what you are currently using. In my stuff I use every figure I have ever collected. The grey golums take a little more work, but they all can be brought in.
Which is what makes Poser so wonderful.
You can easily upgrade any of your legacy figures as much or as little as you are comfortable with.

But you don't have to jump if you don't want to.
The greatest thing about Poser is that new features are built into the software, rather than the figures - and we have documentation to use them.
My legacy figures are weight-mapped. Using Project Evolution as a template, I added control chips to all of my figures for expressions and such. Ken1171's scripts mean that firefly to superfly conversions are 1-click, as are importing DS content.
Poser gives us the best of both worlds.

Over 95% of the deposits in SVB are not fully FDIC insured (aka they are all over $250k). The way SVB runs their funding, you WILL do all of your banking with them. This is actually a good thing - SVB specializes in tech start ups, if there is a finance issue with one of these, they can address it quickly in house. Money can be moved around to smooth daily or weekly hiccups out.Â
The thing is - SVB has the money, they just didn't have enough liquid assets. They had so much they couldn't lend it all out, so they put the excess in the most secure financial instrument in the world - 10 and 30 year T-bills. What they didn't do was react to the Fed telling everyone for the past year that interest rates are going up. SVB should have adjusted their mix - they took a gamble and lost. The shareholders might take a small cut, but it won't be much. The money is there - just in 10 & 30 year T-bills.
That being said, no bank on the planet would survive a bank run that has 24% of it's total cash go out in a single day. Nobody.
A few of the start up will go under - but the ones that do were going under anyway - it will be quick and painless, rather than long and drawn out.
As we speak - hedge funds are calling companies and trying to buy everything right now for between 60 to 80% of it's value. They know just about everyone will get through this.
And $&#* PayPal. Everybody has a PayPal story.

No.
Vendors at 'Rosity only make what they are personally interested in. Look at the store right now - All skankware, all the time. If I am not interested in that - why would I shop here?Â
If I want to do images that don't revolve around an early 20's Caucasian, why would I use Poser? The Poser userbase has shrunk for a reason and it isn't just that GenZ doesn't do computers. They do phones & tablets - neither of which has the horses to do what Poser or DS artists do.
There is a reason people moved to DS - there is a much wider variety of products over there than there is at 'Rosity. Daz has themes that they have built upon for at least 15 years, that I am personally aware of. It is more than just skankware. Poser doesn't have that, because even though the people running 'Rosity now own Poser - they don't have an in house set of content creators to provide anything that the vendors are not personally interested in making. They don't have the ability to build up themes, like Daz's Egypt collection, for example.
That being said - if Taffi (Daz's parent company) goes bellyup, other possibilities may emerge....
They banked with Silicon Valley Bank. If you are unaware, Peter Thiel apparently caused a bank run, and the FDIC had to take it over Friday. Taffi apparently has no access to money right now, and depending on how this is handled on Mon, there is a chance they won't be able to make payroll.Â

Dawn 1 flopped because she only shipped with a few morphs, because Chris was more interested finishing in that stupid horse.
If Dawn had launched with the full set of morphs that she has now - the Poser community would be saying Vicky who?
Instead, the Poser vendor community continued to fragment, and here we are.

What do you consider a basic wardrobe?
Neither LF or LH have that.
Thread: Why hasn't the official POSER13 forum been launched yet? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You are right about that, EClark.
Rosity does need subcontract with vendors, so that whatever figure flops out the door with the release of Poser 13 at least gets basics.
That has been the biggest problem - the last two figures still lack a basic wardrobe, because the few vendors that do make content for them, simply aren't interested in making them.
Once I have run most of my M4/V4 content through whichever conversion product works best - any native content has to be better than what I have converted.
And most of it isn't.
The good news is that Ken1171's scripts are really good at moving DS content into Poser.

Vopehov506, Python 2 isn't coming back.Â
Ever.Â
It was EoLed in 2015 - it was supposed to be EoLed in 2010.
The only way the DS folks would come back is if Bondware developed a DS to Poser Bridge. They could do it, using the DS to Blender bridge as a starting point (Apache license allows it).
The question is could Bondware put their ego aside to make it happen.
Thread: Why hasn't the official POSER13 forum been launched yet? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Because there wouldn't be any positive threads in it - and 'Rosity forum mods handle negativity about as well as the mods in Utah.
The "major" feature that Bondware has been hyping for Poser 13 was dropped.
Bondware can't/won't give us any information on what/if we are getting a new figure (based on the dropped "feature") that will be ignored by both vendors and the userbase.
The other (minor) things we know about aren't quantified, and the devs have made it clear they don't want to talk about it.
No point in having one until Poser 13 launches.

Project Evolution is a fantastic character, but it needs some work to convert the clothes, not sure that there's enough vendors willing to jump on board, which hurts its distribution.
Which can be said for every single post V4 figure released for Poser.
